My Kantele (Eriskummainen kantele) - Loituma

- Eriskummainen kantele/My Kantele by Loituma from their 1998 album Things of Beauty.
"The text is from the Kanteletar (1840), a collection of folk poetry made by Elias Lönnrot, compiler of the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala."
"A kantele is a traditional plucked string instrument of the zither family native to Finland. The oldest forms of kantele have 5 or 6 horsehair strings, and the modern concert kantele can have up to 40 strings. In Finland's national epic, Kalevala, the mage Väinämöinen makes the first kantele from the jawbone of a giant pike and a few hairs from Hiisi's stallion. The music it makes draws all the forest creatures near to wonder at its beauty."

Ha
No good without the bad- i think we finns rather try to stay true and humble - back in the times we had to endure the winter most of the year, and it makes us appreciate the summer more
Ievan Polkka brought me to Loituma, who brought me to this beautiful music.
I will continue listening.
me too

It good to hear such optimism as this put into words.
Kuulin äsken radiosta Nylon Beatiä. Voi kiasus, 90-luku oli vaikeaa aikaa löytää uutta, hyvää suomalaista musiikkia! Onneksi oli Loituma!
Sweet Voice and Singing.
ПРЕКРАСНО !
It makes me to think that I'm in heaven now.
Thanks Loituma...
Ohhhhhhh so so so beautiful ♥
this is beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Hermoso!
Eriskummainen = my??? WHET??!?!?!
finnish is so creative damn :D
+Öykü Özer To my knowledge, it means "My little, incredible/unbelievable (In a magical sense) Kantele"
It's an alternative form of "eriskummallinen". "Kumma"="strange", "weird". "Kummallinen" is an entity with the characteristics of anything before "-llinen", "eris-" means "special/isolate". All together we get something like "extraordinary", i.e. "the extraordinary Kantele".
This totally sounds like Through Heaven's Eyes - Prince of Egypt!.
My mind is blown to munchies.
Amorphis brought me here
😘😘😘
Wonderful song! but sad :( I like it though :)
But it turns glad in the end, the scatting is like she's dancing
are you sure about the title of the painting? It's beautiful, but I can't find it on the internet :p
That's kind of sad.
The words are, the 1swt part is sad
- but the end turns glad, the scatting gives us Finns the air she's dancing, skipping
I want to know how we can find the text:)
What is the name of the leading singer ?
Anita Lehtola
In a very roundabout way, the lyrics remind me of "(Not Gonna Write You A) Love Song".
Listen to this instrumental version of a (very popular and ancient) hungarian folk song: ua-cam.com/video/HIjdugdj58I/v-deo.html Does it not sound like Eriskummainen kantele?
