I'd play this over current madden every time. It has so much more stuff, except the soundtrack. In fact Arena football's challenges to unlock past teams was brilliant. It kept me playing to unlock all of them. It's a shame madden doesn't have that at all. Now it's "congratulations, you spent the most money on ultimate team. Your prize, a crappy card."
Dont Forget Blitz The League the 1st in the series . I also would love to see NFL Blitz & NFL Blitz 2000 since to me those were the best in the series while NFL 2002 was like the last hurrah for series
I remember renting it from a local video strore as a kid as well as the n64 console itself because we didn't own one at the time back when you could do that.
Man I miss the Chicago Rush. My grandparents were season ticket holders back when I was a kid, I only ended up going to a handful of games but Arena Football was a great time.
My favorite thing about this game is the AFL2 teams. I was lucky enough to as a kid have season tickets to the Wilks Barre Scranton Pioneers for the last season the league was active. The pioneers ended up winning every single home game that year and lost in their version of the Superbowl.
Arena Football is the most underrated EA Sports game released on the original Xbox. It's a really fun game, I remember renting it back in 2006 and played it. I would not buy it until a decade later after relocating to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This is one of the first games I bought at Movie Trading Company when I went there for the first time.
I remember a demo for this in the PlayStation Magazine. I was like “mum, dad i need this as a First Communion present” I fired up the ps2 a few years back and yea it holds up.
Dude you when you have two people that are really good at this game it becomes epic. Back in the day when this game came out a friend of mine and I had the most mind blowing, nail biting games. It always came down to the final seconds.
I got this game about two years ago and started to get good and figured out the offense. I now try to play the computer down by at least 21in the fourth quarter to see if I can comeback. I can't imagine how much fun it would be against someone else who knows what they are doing.
They actually did make an Arena Football game on PS1 with Kurt Warner on the cover. It was during his Rams success and wasn’t very good. I was a huge fan of these arena games and the league in general.
Some AFL teams actually are still around, but only because they jumped ship to other indoor leagues. The Arizona Rattlers ran up a whole AFL dynasty and then jumped to the IFL
The IFL is still operating and still expanding, Arizona just got a third team actually. And I thoroughly enjoy indoor/arena football. I loved these games too
There was a game that tried to capitalize on Kurt Warner's success. "Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed" came out for the PS1, and was not bad. Basically a reskin of NFL Blitz.
There is a little known league out there known as the Indoor Football League. Made up of some former AFL teams like the Barnstormers, Shock, and my Rattlers. Similar to how the AFL operated on the field, small field, high scoring. A bit more defense. That would be a league to encourage to find a videogame adaption. It's still growing but on hold due to the quarantine. If you dont know it, look it up, it's pretty fun.
There’s still the IFL (indoor football league) that’s the most popular arena league in the US. There’s teams that used to be in the AFL being the rattlers and barnstormers. I go to a bunch of rattlers games and they’re super fun to watch
There was Kurt Warner arena football game back on the PS1. Also there are also still a couple of arena football leagues still going today here in the USA. The IFL and NAL both which do have games here on UA-cam
I am offended, good sir. The IFL (indoor football league) is still going today and has teams from this Arena Games in the league still. Go Green Bay Blizzard!
just picked this up for 360....it's really good. thanks, softdrink. in some sense, the AFL adapts much better to video game football than madden. me and the family went to a chicago rush game and it was a blast. sad to see the league went down the tubes.
Man Arena Football was so much fun for sure. Action went by fast and you were never really out of a game. Wish this would get a remaster lol. I loved playing it so much
I had season tickets back in the day to Orlando Predators and this game coupled with season tickets was just so much fun and amazing to play. After the Preds would lose to the Storm in the war on i4 I would play on the game to get them back!
Had both these games on the PS2 back in the day and played them ENDLESSLY. Such good games. So uniqe and fun. Either one is a must-play for any hardcore football fan.
One little critique on a near flawless video, the original game you can unlock past teams. You could actually do through cheats or by I’m game achievements
There's actually multiple indoor football leagues in the US right now, they're just very small. The largest is the IFL (Indoor Football League) which has been running continuously for over a decade (though they didn't play in 2020 because of Covid).
Sorry to be that guy, but there are actually several leagues that still play arena football. Such as the Indoor Football League (IFL) that has been around since 2008 and still have some teams from the AFL (like the Arizona Rattlers). Or the Champions Indoor Football League which has been around since 2015. If you guys like this game, please go check out these leagues!! IFL games are even broadcast on UA-cam for FREE! Great Video!
These games were actually pretty solid!! Had a blast playing them. Just played the second one yesterday.. I loved how they used the Madden engine, but still that there own custom controls for the up tempo style of gameplay to represent AFL Football!!! Definitely an under rated series!
This looks like a fun game to play. A few years ago, I actually went to a Philadelphia Soul game for the first time, and it was a pretty cool experience!
Me and my family went to the AFL championship game, where the Philadelphia Soul and the Tampa Bay Storm played. I'm a Philly native, and it was awesome to see the Soul get their third championship. I think if the AFL could've come around earlier, it would've been a popular league, because the atmosphere was awesome, and the players were still really good. I have never played the game or the sequel, but it looks awesome!!!
Right. Arena ball is still alive and kicking just different entities. My little brother plays for the sharks now in the NAL and i play in the AAL with the predators. Wish i could have played in the orginal era Arena league buuuut shoot i was still in high school when it shut down the 1st time 😂😂
These games had personality. I loved them. My only problem with the first game is they didn't have time for the Brigade's name and logo to be announced lol
Specifically, "Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed", basically NFL Blitz but Arena Football (which makes sense, given Midway was also behind this game).
@@ArenaTeams2024 thats the AFL franchise did they all started leaving the league little by little in order to not fold the franchise. The notables barnstormers and rattlers are in other arena football leagues
They should make an All-Pro 2K8-style Arena Football game, where all of the rules and mechanics are similar to these games, but all of the teams and players are generic and not taken from any particular league.
Lol I live in a small town in a big state lol so when arena football had the minor League arena teams and had my local team that was insane I have one if there playbooks
I do need to correct you on a point, there are currently 4 indoor football leagues with IFL being the biggest and most expansive just adding teams in New Mexico, Oakland and Frisco Texas.
I still own and play my original copy of road to glory, the gameplay is incredibly fast pace and fun. Well worth the pick up if you still play retro sports games.
There was an Arena Football League released a year or two after Kurt Warner won the Superbowl. Kurt Warner's Brawl Between the Walls or something like that. I swear a friend had an old AFL game on his Jaguar.
Me and my dad went to a lot of arena football games as a kid. This game totally captured the raucous and fun that was afl games. It's a bummer that it didn't last. I think Arena Football is just a little bit too silly and off the wall. And I feel like because of that it was able to become popular but the popularity didn't last. I feel like the other thing that happened to the arena league is that around the time it was failing smartphones were coming out. The NFL Sunday Ticket was soaring in popularity. Because of the advancements in technology people could get their fill of football more easily with the nfl. I feel like prior to that it was harder to be engaged in the sport of football outside of the NFL season so having a different league with something that there was more demand for.
You have to do videos on the golf baseball n hockey franchises. UFC, mma n boxing games. The forgotten games such as cricket 07, rugby 08, super bike 01, grand slam tennis, F1 challenge, NCAA baseball, v8 challenge, and why they never got into lacrosse
Gay Gruden was not only a coach in the Arena football league, but a player too! The guy won 4 championships in his time and then went to coach afterwards. A surprising story for someone I thought was just a generic guy
Underrated game. I’ve been collecting a lot of these old sports games getting ready to do a video on them
Same
i subbed excited for the video
Fish appreciate it. Already got a script written just waiting for my elagato
same bro minus the video part but i’m about to buy a PS2 and cop some classics
Same. I miss those days. They put everything into it and gave you plenty of features for 50$. Even the ESPN ones.

It kept me playing to unlock all of them. It's a shame madden doesn't have that at all. Now it's "congratulations, you spent the most money on ultimate team. Your prize, a crappy card."
no no no, you dont get it! you get a shiny card that you can use for the next 2 months!

Rattlers & Barnstormers are there now.
