Manchester United supporters who are having a hard time in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era need to take a look at this clip. This is how you support your club not just the success, but the struggles of getting back to the top of the mountain.
+joesakic91 They need to have a listen to it as well as theres no sound on it. I thought id gone deaf for a moment there and I have a hearing problem as it is! :)
Happy days. The 2nd division season was my last one as a school kid. I used to beg, blag or borrow to go and see the Reds. Went to all the homes and a fair few of the aways. I remember my mum grounding me one Friday so I couldn't go to Fulham on the Saturday. Had to climb out of the bedroom window to get the old football special. Mother wasn't bothered when I got back, she was at Bredbury hall! Great days indeed.
I was there in the crowd and on the pitch after the whistle. I was born only a few streets away from the ground, so yes i'm a manc and supported Utd then as I do now. Great footage, massive memories. Thankyou.
Memories, like the corners of my mind, if we had the chance to do it all again ...would we, You're damn right !. Happy days when we all had nothing but the change in our 'patch pockets' with eight buttons on the waistband, a beautiful little film that i can't stop watching and sighing all the way through it.
I was 11 and missed only one home game that year. My parents must have been crazy to let me go alone but they figured I could handle it. Was in the United Road for the Blackpool game - the same spot as 12 months earlier when King Denis scored for the bitters.
my auntie used to take me most weeks whilst Utd were in second division, saw them play against teams that were good but not in the same class as us, York, Orient, and of course this last one against Blackpool what a win 4 nil. I remember me and my auntie going onto the pitch, thinking we was going to get told off for doing so (I was 7), how times change? and yes I'm a manc originally from urmston!
From 67 to 92/3 united were nothing special but still were the best supported team bar one season when they were building the ground.anyone think they were glory hunting fans need to look in the record books.football didn't start with the premier league.check the scousers crowds against United's when the scousers were best team in world, still United's were higher.
like i said thick and thin, like on the vid when utd was in div 2, dont forget utd went 26 years witout a league title pre sky tv and had the biggest crowds in britain for 25 of those 26 years
brillant stuff not a prawn sandwich in sight and i'd bet my life on it being mostly mancs surely there's loads more stuff like this from matches back then ready to be shown on the net
@PhilK1231 I don't know why you compare United's average 1974-75 attendance with Newcastles of today? Why not compare it with Newcastle's 74-75 attendance which was only 34,614 and in the first division to boot. United's current average is 75,304.
How many trophies did they win during their "thin" time ? Four ? Six ? Eight ? What it wasn't was ZERO Their Uber crowds started with Ferguson's reign. That are a well supported club. No doubts. They have a disproportional proportion of that from everywhere BUT Manchester and Salford. Not a criticism, just to put things into perspective.
EASY to follow a winning team. The test is following a team with NO trophies for DECADES. If Man U had Newcastle lack of success and abysmal failures and heartbreaking near misses, they wouldn't be getting 70,000 turning up. They'd be getting 30,000 if they were lucky. "Thick and thin" ?????? WHAT "thin" ???? Even when they weren't averaging MORE than a major trophy every year, they were still winning cups only nor quite as often. Newcastle have won nothing domestically since 1955
your watching a vid of man utd in division 2, i think its the wrong vid to start slating utd fans as gloryhunters, try a soccer am vid, you might get a few thumbs up on there. you say the uber crowds started under ferguson but under atkinson, sexton and docherty united had bigger crowds than anyone including probably the worlds greatest team at the time liverpool

Nostalgic video. And such a travesty how English football has been ruined in the space of one generation :(
