Very nice install- They are important in that vehicle because of no airbags and no crumple zone. The crumple zone on that truck is the other car! LOL Great stuff...

Thanks Buddy!! Very few people know about the Crumple Zone or lack there of!!☻

I think the match is great. I like the way you installed the belts.... I'v been thinking of installing lap belts in the Bel Air for the past few years. Everyone around here drives like "me me me first"! It makes me nervous, plus NO ONE wants to be "stuck" behind an old car, so they do what they can to get in front. I drive my old cars like I am invisible. I figure everyone is going to pull out in front of me.....

We always had seat belts in our cars. Even the 40s and 50’s cars. My uncle was a pilot and flat demanded we have aircraft seatbelts in our cars. He would bring them over and install them. Color matched when he could. Most were tan. Exactly like the ones you are using! Lap belts only. Just as in aircraft. The forces in a wreck are unreal. I put racing harnesses in my old short track cars. As the belts were short I bolted to the floor with 2 ton chains. A guy told me to go bigger. Gee two ton, screw that I’m fine. Soooo slammed into the wall at about 50. 50 isn’t all that fast. But fast enough I guess. Anyway when I came to my senses I unbuckled and found myself holding one of the belts. Chain broke. The other stretched. I couldn’t believe I broke a two ton chain with my body. But I’m just short of 300 pounds. Back then about 280? Anyway about 7G to break the chain. 7G in a wreck is nothing. Good hell the forces.

Make sure you use hardened bolts. Regular bolts could shear off in an accident.
