This is awesome. I’m nearly 70 years old, grew up in Austin, and so many of these wonderful, talented people were well-known to me as I grew up. I played with Jay Hodgson’s kids as a child, watched Jack Wallace as Packer Jack when he became a regular on Jay’s children’s show, we knew Dan Love and his family, and of course Cactus Pryor and his brothers Wally and Arthur and his sister Mary Alice. Paul Bolton was a revered and much-respected newsman. I remember the day when Charles Whitman climbed the UT Tower on August 1, 1966 and murdered 14 people with a sniper rifle after he had killed his wife and mother. I was home from school for the summer, watching KTBC. A list was being read of the names of people who had been killed and I remember watching as Paul Bolton ran from offscreen into the studio and asked to hear it again because his own grandson’s name had been read out on the air. It was so shocking and tragic. That memory is emblazoned on my brain forever. It’s great seeing all these folks again as well as the interior of this building at 10th and Brazos Streets. My father worked at The Commodore Perry Hotel at the time at 800 Brazos and my mother worked in the 500-block of Congress Ave. Gee, I wish I had a time machine, I would go back and revisit Austin in the 50’s and 60’s back when it was a small, green, beautiful town full of peaceful lakes, quiet streets and friendly people. I don’t even recognize Austin today, it’s as if a magic spell has taken it all away.
Love watching these vintage TV studio tour videos and this was most enjoyable to watch and very informative. I was curious as to what year this footage was recorded, done some Googling found a kinescope film version of this recording on the texasarchive.org site which dates to December 1960 www.texasarchive.org/library/index.php/KTBC_Open_House,_Part_1_-_Studio_Tour,_December_1960 .

OMG, that was super-awesome. So glad I spent my best years in Austin, during it's best years.
This brings back some potent memories. I could see that transmitter tower from my home on Bridle Path in Austin. Cactus Pryor looks so young!
