I really love the classic one, If only they didn't delete old save every major/DLC update. I had a nearly 200 h save with all the item unlocked. I like the feeling of building with limited compartments.

You can still finish missions by dropping people off on the medical ships.
Career is best! I always turn off Search and Destroy DLC though, I just find that whole mechanic annoying.
