    I would love an in-depth bed sharing video! I know it comes with so much criticism. So I get it if you choose to stay away from it. But I’m struggling with it right now! I have a 7 year old who wants to be in our bed (co-slept until age 5) A 4 year old and 2 year old in a phase where they want to as well. An 8 month old who loves to co-sleep and nurse to sleep. I myself like to sleep alone 🫣. I feel exhausted. I struggle getting chores done and homeschooling with the baby who won’t lay down alone. We use a carrier but she’s becoming more distracted and hard to get to nap in it.

      I will put it on my content list 💕
      In the meantime, if you aren’t already, I’d have the three older kiddos bedshare in their room!
      Sometimes it’s really just the presence of another warm body, and the felt safety that they need!

    Totally agree with everything and I'm no born again hippie, I just listened to my gut. My daughter is now 27 years old and has complex disabilities from a rare chromo disorder but I am so glad I parented naturally, as much as I could.

    Its so interesting, in Canada (at least in my area) a baby walker is more like a mini version of a seniors walker, its something they hold onto and push, when they are cruising.

      We have those in the states as well. They aren’t as developmentally detrimental as the seated walkers, but they can still actually slow the process of baby learning to walk!

    I am french, I would love a video on safe bed sharing, because here it is definitly not recommended but I have done it numerous times with my 2 y.o when he was little. And I am pretty sure it was not safe bed sharing... I was also extremely paranoid that somerhing would happen to him in our bed so I would not really sleep well. Yet it felt like the most natural thing to do... It is not that simple to find good informations and advice on it so I would love to ear from an experienced mom 😊

    • @ashleighnicolewilson
      @ashleighnicolewilson  9 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely 🤍 Statistically speaking, a very large number of parents end up bedsharing with their babies at one point or another - not teaching how to do so safely does such a big disservice to babies and families!

      I believe instincts can lead us greatly in motherhood. When we quiet all of the outside noise and listen to our maternal wisdom that each women carries, we will know what is best for us and our babies! This has helped me through motherhood!

  • @ladylogic8091

    No lie, I agree with all of these. Socks, for chumps same with mits. Baby buckets, not only bad for physical development, but also can be damaging to the child's body. My crib is the largest catchall of crap in her nursery. Has she ever slept in it, two naps. Did it cost me $400, yes. The kids sleep in my bed, and I don't honestly see a day where she won't for the near future. I've had her with me in this bed since she was about five months old. She's fine. I only swaddled for the first six weeks, and then I realize that she was actually more calm without being swaddled. I would add one thing to hear though. No shoes, this goes along with the socks thing, but some people still have an old-fashioned belief that you need to put shoes on the babies feet to mold their feet. This is a very damaging belief, and I am almost guaranteed orthopedic surgeons would agree with the keeping your child feet bear. it's just better for physiology, and development. Also, there are damages that can happen to one's feet when you wear restrictive shoes.

    I was always thinking id bedshare but after watching a video last week of a dad who was holding his daughter watching a football game and she snuck into the crease of his arm and suffocated, i dont think i could ever risk that

    • @ashleighnicolewilson
      @ashleighnicolewilson  9 місяців тому +2

      There are safe and unsafe ways to bedshare. Sleeping with your baby in a chair or on a couch is definitely in the unsafe category. And that’s part of the problem with the current “never ever sleep with your baby” narrative. Rather than parents learning how to safely sleep with their baby, they’re doing it unsafely and in secret. It’s heartbreaking when the lack of honest information harms babies 😔

    I thought wipe warmer was a luxury...unless I started using it for my second baby and she enjoyed the warm wipe on her bum. We live in Alberta, Canada where the temperature goes down to -40 Celsius....despite having heaters, the wipes are definitely chilled when it's that cold.

  • @thebestwillow
    @thebestwillow 9 місяців тому +1

    Hey....what do you think about the next to me type of cribs? It occurs to me that that might be a good safe option to be close to bed sharing but have baby in a space they can't really be rolled onto easily by an adult.

    • @ashleighnicolewilson
      @ashleighnicolewilson  9 місяців тому

      I think they can be a great choice for parents who want the option! Lack of space and need mean they aren’t something I’ll purchase.

    I agree on mittens and socks! Never felt the need for them.
    I believe blankets and pillows in the bed are one of the risks of bed-sharing. How do you mitigate that risk? I don't think I can go without using them myself, so they'd be there right by the baby, right?

    • @ashleighnicolewilson
      @ashleighnicolewilson  9 місяців тому +2

      Light blankets up to the waist, and I do use one fairly flat pillow. The way my body is curled around baby means they stay between my arm and leg and can’t migrate. There’s also just an intuitive awareness of baby’s location, even while sleeping 🤍

    I think walkers are a US-American thing. I grew up in the States and knew them from my childhood…but I now live in Germany and had my babies here and I don’t know anyone with children who had a walker. It’s just not a thing here.

    I bed share with my bio babies too! We have a crib for our foster babies. I get so much more sleep with my bio babies. It’s so much easier. Those weighted sleepers need to be banned. We do use those tight swaddles for some of our foster babies because sometimes drug exposed babies really need it.

    I agree with all these points and do the same! My first is 3 months old and I had a sneaking suspicion I'd end up cosleeping, just wasn't sure how to go about it. Just got a free hand me down bassinet to try it but it didn't last long. I absolutely love cosleeping and sleep so much better. A midwife from church suggested I look at James Mckenna's work and recommendations on safe bed sharing. Please do a video on co sleeping!
    Also, I'm concerned about what to do if I have my second baby sooner rather than later, and am still sleeping with my first. I know its not safe to have a toddler in the bed could you shed any light on this? I know a lady with a toddler and baby, she sleeps in the middle, toddler on one side and baby on the other, but hubby sleeps in a different room. I don't want hubby in a different room so wouldn't know what to do!
    Apologies for the super long comment!

      funnily enough socks are actually great for those cases where a baby really does need to have some mittens on for awhile. They don't stay on their feet but I've found they stay on their hands way better than any kind of actual baby mitten lol
