- A solid Jam with a simple arp-y melody. Boomstar is (by a mile) the best monosynth I've ever played. So good in fact that I ended up handing off the Matrixbrute just to afford one. The unit you see here in this video is the one Voltage&Co was kind enough to lend me. I've got my own 8106 boomstar with slightly darker wood that'll be a mainstay here for quite sometime. This jam is just a short example of what it can do. More of these to come...
You've got excellent groove harmonic sound and more,, taste ... feels so good! Can't get enough lydian flight funk!!!!
this is art!
What a treat to wake up to!
These videos are SO incredibly high quality and they just keep improving somehow,
keep em coming

Great groove! As usual👍😀
Love it. Very nice sounds, especially the baseline
Nice one. I have a 1st gen 5089.
Very nice, it's difficult to find good sounding Boomstar examples. Studio Electronics is in the process of building me the SEM version.
They're inspirational game changers. Immediate and rewarding. Get a good template setup for your DAW or live rig that allows you to send to Chorus reverb and delay with ease. I use a midi fighter twist mapped to Ableton's mixer and some of the plugin parameters so anytime I boot up live 11, I've got the boomstar ready on an external instrument track, with sends mapped accordingly. It's super handy but even more important it keeps things sounding interesting being able to enhance the otherwise dry analog signal and hear it in a more sophisticated production context. a big fat analog synth goes from impressive to spectacular with even modest amounts of chorus, reverb, or delay. External FX boxes always a solid investment too. I use a digitech time bender from time to time no pun intended.
@@MajorOSC These are some helpful suggestions here, my setup is pretty bare bones: Digitakt & Digitone Keys into a OTO Baum & Bam. Being new to the game, I'm trying to make wise purchases for my small studio.
You'd have to pry my cold dead hands off my MatrixBrute before I gave mine up. lol
@@Leviathan-mj8gi Not visually in the video, but it's very confusing. At :12 the video says Bass - MatrixBrute, implying that the bassline is from the MB (Perhaps an older prerecorded/sampled loop?). But in the video description it said he handed off his MB to afford the BoomStar. So it's rather confusing to be honest.
@@Leviathan-mj8gi Exactly...Really confused me when I first watched it. Also weird that all his videos I didn't see one on the MatrixBrute either.
In the video, he is using a borrowed Boomstar 8106 for the lead sound to make this video and his MatrixBrute is doing the bass. But he said in the video description he is selling (or has sold) his MatrixBrute since then in order to buy his own Boomstar 8106 because he loved it that much. The Boomstar is about $1700 right now, so ya, it would take selling off something beloved in order to buy one. Though I would have suggested a leg or maybe 2nd born instead of the MatrixBrute. :-)
@@mglohmeyer oh definitely would sell a kidney or something else before my MatrixBrute. That will become a cult classic in the future.
@@lucid484 haha I understand the confusion. to clarify, this unit you see here is a boomstar from from voltage & co, a distribution rep for studio electronics. Had borrowed it for a week and loved it so much that I sacrificed the MB. MB is a fine monosynth. But for sound and immediacy for production, boomstar is perfect for me. Bold statement I realize. I'm picky and know the kind stuff I want out of my monosynths. If I had to have a mono with a keyboard again I'd go back to the pro 3. There's a video on my channel demoing all sorts of insane sounds I got outa that thing. MB was fun but I wasn't clicking as much.
Is this channel dead?
For the most part, yes. I'm busy being a dad and working a regular day job. No longer with Modal. I resigned last January. ApertureSoundLab.com also recently closed down. I'm available for inquiries at info@majorosc.com
