You're always so unnecessarily hard on yourself! Although I know it's this quality that keeps your work so damn brilliant. Well done, as usual. I always love the work you do.
Syl, no apologies necessary--this was an experiment that was limited by those you were doing it for and time, and for all that it turned out GREAT. BTW, the architecture style of the entrance and main st/theme tower is VERY much the style of many US county or state fair complexes built from about the Depression onwards (often as make-work projects by the govt. for those out of work due to the economy then) so it really captures that neo-classical yet minimalist style of that era perfectly. ONE THING for future main st. builds as to what shops go where? Once upon a time I was standing behind a "new cast member orientation" group being given a walk-around of Disneyland and one of the fact the guide/boss told them was this: In ALL Disney parks, the "big" shop for gifts and things is ALWAYS on the RIGHT side as you LEAVE the park, just before the entrance/exit. This is because they found that something like 80% of all purchases happen then because (a) people don't want to carry stuff around all day and (b) MOST people in the world are right handed and, except for the UK etc., drive on the right so they naturally migrate to the right side when exiting. Whether the Planet Coaster peeps will do that too is, of course, anyone's guess (though considering how much research Frontier does into real parks I wouldn't be surprised if they knew this!) Anyhow, that's where the highest volume of sales are and, thus, where the big gift shops that carry EVERY generic item (as opposed to the smaller shops themed to their own nearby attractions or "lands" or whatever) are always located. Thanks again for this great park and for this video sharing your insights into making it.
P.S. AT the Disney 'big shops" called, in the MK parks the "emporium" there are actually multiple storefronts leading to one LARGE continuous shop, so in a street like yours, only the doors/paths would be needed on the outside, perhaps some signage, and then use some of that INTERIOR space that's now just "backstage" to decorate and design a multi-shop interior--say Momento and Bloons and Hats and such.
Lastly (I promise) re. the one you say is very McDonalds or Starbucks with the Chief Beef? Check out this page of outlets of Chipoltle, a modern mexican chain here in the US. They are doing very much this kind of architecture, too: www.google.com/search?q=Chipotle&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj0xtWNvtHSAhWIv1QKHWBHB_AQ_AUICCgD&biw=2048&bih=1022#q=Chipotle&tbm=isch&tbs=rimg:CQ-YDsgUj1ybIjgOWaCPW1QDcWHCoi7mt3e8NxWvI9DwR7zft0XBvnZxRfztoBPu8b405WJaF6D2RTqTVEyLAiKhuSoSCQ5ZoI9bVANxEdR_1go4L3a5rKhIJYcKiLua3d7wRqD5bNVEQeI4qEgk3Fa8j0PBHvBHxhUZATkvKOioSCd-3RcG-dnFFEWhJHoLkeIt_1KhIJ_1O2gE-7xvjQRoalaW8wIJ-4qEgnlYloXoPZFOhGDaPZOxBoBmyoSCZNUTIsCIqG5Efce5oHJIYLV&*
Thank you! I know about the gift shop, though for one, there's no way to make a proper exit gift shop (as would be great for roller coasters, too), and then there's also just no room for it in the entrance I built here. Chipotle buildings actually look surprisingly good compared to other chains. All I've ever heard or read about them though is that the food's supposed to give you terrible shits.
_"the food's supposed to give you terrible shits."_ If Mexican food wasn't bad enough already, they had to Americanize it and make it a national restaurant chain. lol
This park is awesome, Silvarret. I love how you've gone out of your (what seems to be) comfort zone in designing that super modern main street. Even bigger props for being able to still make it look like a theme park. There's a reason you're such a great Planet Coaster youtuber---this park is a great example of why! I can't wait to see what you do next!
Okay....ONE more thought: You may remember the great scifi movie "The Fifth Element" with Bruce Willis. In that movie, the "fifth element" beyond earth, air, fire, and water is..... LOVE SO....maybe we could have an underground "Tunnel of Love" dark ride with entry/exit at the center tower??????? :)
A 5th element is usually heart (oh boy, Captain Planet, but I guess heart could also be "love"), Aether/Ether/Æther/Quintessence, Void, or Lightning/Thunder.
Super fun to play around in at Pax, thanks for making. I remember doing the ride POV for the 4-D coaster and I didn't realize it was 4-D and I was like "OMG WHAT THE HELL"
Personally, I love this park. You managed to make a simple, clean approach look amazing, which is what I'm trying to learn to do as I find it much more realistic.
You're being really hard on this park but I actually think it's one of your best. The constraints they put on this really forced you to keep things simple and clean which isn't your usual style, and which I really appreciate.
The reason it's impossible to create fully smooth coasters in Planet Coaster is because each track piece you place has its own exponential banking curve. This causes the jerky movement, or 'steps', when having multiple banked pieces in a row with different banking (like in a barrel roll for instance). These jerky steps are still noticeable in your wooden coaster, which is very smooth for a PC coaster, I must say :D. One way to fix this problem, is to have a continuous-roll option which would basically spread the banking curve over multiple pieces, resulting in very smooth track. It is really a shame that Planet Coaster doesnt have this option, since its pretty much essential for a spline based system. They put so much effort in making the roller coasters feel realistic but not being able to make smooth coasters is a HUGE let down.
They already have that actually, you just have to select multiple tracks. You can also use the smoothing tool, but yes I do agree with you, it's not fully smooth but at least it's smooth enough.
They dont have a continuous roll option. The smoothing tools do work to some extend but the lack of continuous roll option shows because the smoothing tools can't fully smooth the track. And for me and probably any other roller coaster enthusiast the coasters aren't smooth enough at all :(.
Ever actually played the game? Making smooth coasters in this game is only "slightly challenging," I think Silvarret simply can't be bothered. He is focused on making everything else GREAT but coasters that are buttery smooth are not really a priority, I noticed. But I mean don't get me wrong, he makes intricate highly detailed parks so I see why he doesn't spend the 3x-5x times extra needed to make a coaster **feel** 100% smooth.
My gripe with the game is that there is no fixed camera (at heartline height) on the coaster train. The camera rides a smoothened track in a sorta way, pointing the camera to the track in front of the car its in. It increases the difficulty in noticing the bumps and general "non-smoothness." (The track height cam is not sufficient IMO)
so I've checked out silv's alt channel. Then watched tis again. How can you Just be so chill while building or explaining. It would be really hard for me to do so with such a meme-ish inside :D
Silvarret, loved this series. The final product turned out awesome! I don't understand the criticisms of the main street, it's one of my favorite parts of the park!
Silv love your work! In the future you need to do a video on design techniques and customizing things in Planet Coaster. That would be really cool and much appreciated!
It was something different, and I liked that. Even if you don't like how it turned out, I certainly liked seeing you try something new and a little experimental. (And I personally mostly like it!)
I love the observation Tower, it's reminiscent of the space needle in Seattle Washington. I tried recreating the Eifel Tower and when it was finished I ended up naming it the Awful Tower.
silv, your creations are the best in the planet coaster community and I get my mind blown every time I watch your stuff. I'm your huge fan and just love your videos. that being said, I do think you should be more confident about your work by being more enthusiastic about your acomplishments and maybe stop being too hard on yourself for the very (unnoticeable) small details missing.
Silvarret, I would really like to see more in-depth explanation of your pathing work. During the time-lapse videos you kind of breeze through it, but it always looks so good. Could you do a more expansive pathing tutorial with everything you've learned? Or is there an existing video that you'd recommend?
I love this format and the scope of this park. Gives us more of an idea of how to do a proper park layout and the detail on the buildings is not that extreme that is demoralizing :P. The video was great highlighting all the good (and lesser) parts. I really want to play PC right now :D.
hey silv love your video! do don't know if anyone noticed but the hypercube exit does not connect to the path ;). I'll be looking forward to the next parks you dream up !
Hey, how often do real parks get it "wrong"? I think it looks great and while it may be not the usual depth, it's still amazing work. So, no need to apologise ;)

Silvarret, do you have any tips on fear when building a coaster? I can't even build a coaster that goes upside-down once without making the fear ratings rise so much. I know that the coaster isn't going extremely fast or it doesn't have extreme g's and yet it's still very scary. I try to keep my coasters as smooth as possible but it doesn't change a thing. So, is the tower Heart, or... Lightning? Is it light because it’s a white tower reaching to the heavens? It’s in the middle of the park, it must be an element.
Silvarret on some (like the near-perfect transition out of the 4G!) the slow crossfade looks really good, but I think in most cases it would be less confusing/distracting to do a faster fade through black, or just hard cut to the POV right at the frame in which you click the button. I really do appreciate the high-FPS POV clips you splice in, regardless of the transitions 😊
Now I understand! The entrance is very similar to the rationalist style that was invented in Italy in early 20th century, was popular in Germany and (how ironic) in pre-war USSR. I may be wrong though.
It is fascinating how much of our modern culture still harkens back to the Romans, and that "fascist" style was a very conscious attempt to reclaim the mantle of the Roman Empire. Look at all the Art Deco "eagles" in that period too.

Ahh sorry, I should've said it differently - the in-game coaster is not a recreation of Tranan, but I used Tranan as a reference to know how to design the layout for it.
They need to add something so you can change the meters to feet, so you can see how high the ride is in feet. I always have to search up the ride height like, "_______ meters in feet"
Hello SIlv! (And viewers) I'm super interested by the G forces you get in coasters. The only problem is, I'm kinda dumb and I don't get those things quite as well as I would've liked. Could you maybe recommend me some videos on the how lateral, vertical, ... G forces work, the difference between them, etc etc? Or feel free to make a video about it yourself :D Great great video btw, as always. I love how you explain things and it really helps me making my park and coasters come together! Thanks man!
Christophe Vanhamme I'm sure other people can provide some videos, but just to give the quick rundown: G-force is a measure of the acceleration the coaster is putting on you, expressed as a multiple of the acceleration due to gravity. One G is what you experience standing still on the planet's surface, which tries to pull you downward at 9.81 m/s^2. If you experience 2G you're feeling twice that force, 0.25G is half as much, and -1G feels like you're being pulled upward. g-force doesn't have to be used just for up-down measurement though, which is where the vertical/lateral/forward part comes in. Based on how you would sit in a chair, vertical g-forces act along the line from the top of your head straight down through your butt; lateral act along the line going sideways through both of your shoulders (or in one ear and out the other, if you're looking straight ahead); forward is straight out of your chest or back through your spine. For vertical and forward g-forces positive values are ones that push you into your seat, negatives are ones that cause you to lift out of it or slide forward. I'm not certain and I don't have the game in front of me to check, but I would expect lateral to therefore be positive toward your right and negative toward your left.
Why not both? :') Creativity comes in all kinds of forms, I personally love it when people come up with creative solutions to make things look realistic.
Silvarret. You said at 9:40 that Colossos is the tallest Wooden Rollercoaster in the World. But that is a wrong information. Its the tallest in Europe. The tallest in the World is El Toro in Six Flags Great Adventure. But anyway very nice Park :)
Curiously, this is what RCDB says: rcdb.com/rhr.htm?m=1&t=2. Then again, I'm not all too sure - it can be hard to trust rankings, Wikipedia says it's 52 metres tall.
Oh okay i researched and yes now its the tallest one. Sometime i heard that it wasn't the tallest anymore. Anyway now were both smarter :D and keep up the very very good work.

I'm still waiting for this game to be available on Mac
Awesome! I prefer more creativity vs. realism when it comes to style, but your great!
Why not both? :') Creativity comes in all kinds of forms, I personally love it when people come up with creative solutions to make things look realistic.
I thought you did really well. You only had like 2 weeks.
You should do an Easter park
Why hasn't Frontier just hired you yet? They seem to have you do the builds for all of their conventions/demos. :P
I'd love that park in real life
22:42 i died😂😂
afyer uploading could you please fill in the rest of the park your own way? that will be cool!
Nice video

Don't ask. (smile) It is where dear Syl bites the Capitalist hand that feeds him themeparks! :)
Good; the proletariat must certainly seize the means of production.
Well, no. In a true free market, they already own it. :)
His voice is so weird
wow im surprised nobody has went out of their way to say "first" yet
first
Pepe the frog is in front of me an he plays planet cosetr
Hey silvarret do You special like every comment?
I wish he would stop talking while we ride the coasters. It's very distracting and no one wants to have a conversation while they ride a coaster.
Theres hardly any rides! This SUCKS
