Thank you so much for posting your videos. They've given me a wealth of information and equipped me with questions for my cat's oncologist. He was just diagnosed with large cell lymphoma less than a week ago and it's a scary and uncertain time for us. Thank you for all of the information you provide!

Thanks for your talk and videos Dr Sue, really useful. We are just waiting for the biopsy from our gorgeous 3 year old boy but they have told us it looks likely that it is lymphoma, and we are obviously feeling shocked that this is happening to such a young cat. Best wishes to all other cat parents out there going through this, and prayers that you get as long as time as possible with your furry friend

@@DrSueCancerVet So far he is. Got the diagnosis at the beginning of February and was nervous. Last appointment confirmed it is small cell and my little guy has 2.5-3 years to live. Appreciating every day with him.

I have a very sick cat. I just spent $387 and still dont know what's wrong. I am poor. I can not afford a $500 ultrasound.

My cat was ill, wouldn’t eat, vomiting, lost weight took her in and blood work showed an elevated WBC count of 25000, so they treated her for an infection. She did not get better and two days later developed pulmonary effusion? They tapped the fluid and said it looked like FIP, but then we did an abdominal ultrasound. They found thickening of the mesentary and they said they thought it was cancer, not specific about the type, but did not suggest any other tests to stage or a biopsy. I decided to euthanize as they said there was no treatment and she would just get worse. I was so upset that they didn’t provide treatment options. She was leukemia neg. I was so sad. She was only eight. Also I had recent wrist surgery for a broken wrist and couldn’t do a lot of driving or I would have gone to U of Penn for an opinion. I still miss her three years later. Looking back I’m very unhappy with the Vet not providing more information it also took several days to get a diagnosis as they originally said she had an “infection”.

I’m so sorry but beware of modern day euthanasia I’ve had 4 Dodd and one 20 year old cat euthanized over the last 5 or so years it was neither compassionate or peaceful or painless even when they told me it would be it was horrible they all cried out literally screamed in fear and pain
They are suppose to give a sedative that knocks them out before giving the euthanasia shot that happened but did not work and it was so horrible I am so so sorry to my animals I loved them so much and wanted to help them I used to work for a vet like 30 years ago and we never saw this it’s disgusting that vets go along and don’t question it
That goes for the way we spay and neuter in this country removing all sexual organs causes severe problems later in life when a vasectomy and tubal ligation leaves organs and hormones intact and is proven to be much much better for the animals total life long health and well being plus the cost is so much less ... well there ya go big Pharma pushes a sick agenda once again and no one questions it

Hi my 2 yr old cat has been diagnosed with cat lymphoma ( 6 enlarged lymph nodes) no biopsy was performed or routine blood tests. The vet is reluctant to treat him as my cat has FIV., but has agreed to try him on steroids for a short while. My cat has not lost any weight and eats well and toilets as normal. I asked where the cancer would be as they won’t perform any blood tests or investigations due to the FIV , she just says it’s in his lymph nodes, I’m confused as I thought the enlarged lymph nodes would be due to infection not necessarily cancer. I have so many questions bug what I’m trying to say is I feel the vet has giving up on my cat due to his FIV diagnosis. I feel this is discrimination. He is a fighter and has a strong will to live. I’m very upset. I do not wish to eunithinise not when he is eating and drinking and not vomiting or loosing weight.
    I’m from the Uk x

My cat has been treated for IBD for about 3 years now mainly for lack of appetite with Prednisolone low dose. In the last month she started losing her appetite and has constant diarrhea. The Prednisolone was increased to .4 ml. twice daily and didn’t help the appetite or diarrhea. She developed diabetes and was hospitalized. The internal medicine vet is assuming Chloe has gone into lymphoma although his ultrasound by radiologist said all looked normal. I took Chloe to an oncologist who did an ultrasound and said she saw thickening in the intestines and said she would do a laparoscopic full thickness biopsy. She was supposed to call back but never did. I don’t think Chloe is strong enough to survive a surgery. The internist started Chloe on chlorambucil twice a week to go along with .25 Prednisolone, Mirtazapine, Metronidazole, Tylosin and Entyce . I just got her home from ICU and they said her blood sugar is more normal, but she still has very little appetite and runny stools. I would really appreciate any advice Dr. Sue, if you can spare the time. I’d bring my kitty in to see you but I live in Washington State and wouldn’t want to put my Chloe through the stress of a flight. Wish I hadn’t missed your Q & A session! Thank you!

    Hi dr sue.
I keep hearing the word remission but then directly after that it only adds a year or so. So this doesn’t mean remission? Is it possible to have lymphoma in cats totally removed and for them to to live a long term life?
Is it rare to have a total remission?
