Your working definition of authenticity brought to mind a description of honesty from the Manual for Teachers in A Course in Miracles: "Honesty does not apply only to what you say. The term actually means consistency. There is nothing you say that contradicts what you think or do; no thought opposes any other thought; no act belies your word; and no word lacks agreement with another. Such are the truly honest. At no level are they in conflict with themselves. Therefore it is impossible for them to be in conflict with anyone or anything."

I am now 80 years old and when I look over my life I realize that my faith in God and adherence to my deep rooted Christian principles, never wavering from my core beliefs, has ensured my well being all along the way.
One could possibly say that as a low income Brazilian mom married to a man who's highly narcissistic and neurotic and who can't hold down a job, that my life sucks, and it does, for the most part. But then I learn these things and regain a much needed sense of control. And that's when one would be wrong. I'm immensely grateful. You're a real gift, Aaron. Thank you!

John 4:24 spirit and truth -- open heart open mind. In my opinion, one of the main reasons mainstream (black and white) Christianity has fallen off the cliff it’s taught through the filter of the ego instead of the filter of the open mind and open heart.

As of recent years, supernatural acts indicating divine balance were often reflected back to me in consciousness.

The part about checking before acting is something I’ve been using with texting. I write the text and then take a pause. Maybe a long one. I find there are many times that I am reacting when I text. When I pause and read it again once I’m more present, I see there is no need to “make my point”.

Good morning, I do not usually make comments. But this video so resonated with me that I wanted to share.
I realized years ago how similar an airplanes Flight was to our path. Such as if you don’t have the right attitude, you will sink, and if you have your nose too high, you will stall. Just very basic aspects.
But this morning you said something that was just an aha moment. You were talking about the polarity to have the heart and mind to connect.
On an airplane, there is a module called ground monitoring unit. If you have to use an external power cart, a.k.a. a boost the ground monitoring unit will not allow the connection to be made until the voltage and the polarity are in the right range. Then the ground control unit continues to monitor For low-voltage, in flight. If it senses that the system voltage is low, it gives you a flashing alert so that you know to engage the standby alternator, so that you continue to have a source of power to make it to your intended destination.

I wish there was a podcast with Robert Sapolski and Aaron Abke discussing free will.
I feel like we only have free will if/when we're fully present and consciously creating our reality.
Edit: and we always have the free will to make the decision to do that.
@@KaraKahn yes. i followed several of Sapolski's lectures online. He had put a whole module of university classes online for free. Years ago, long before Huberman. He is great. But later he started talking about free will. He had a depression of some sort and deceided all human behavior is entirely caused by biology and there is no ghost in the machine like free will. I was so dissapointed, I deceided not to listen to these videos and keep my memories of his classes the way i like it, and i moved on to others like Abke. But I'm curious to see how such a conversation goes. I noticed that anytime Abke has someone else on his channel it ways ends up the guest talking and him interviewing. Not much the other way around. Even when he had Teal Swan on: she talked about herself and never asked about him in return. That is also how i imagine the conversation will go with Sapolski: Abke will ask Sapolski some strategic questions so he can think more along those lines. I wonder what Abke's questions will be to make a biologist maybe find spiritual meaning. We could turn it into a book. '10 questions to ask yourself in search for your free will, to get you out of depression: From fatalism to meaning of life'. Sapolski will be the ideal person to test the method. It will be a bestseller.

I believe the greater struggle (assuming we acknowledge the bit about taking a pause to ponder the situation and what the authentic response would be) Is actually hearing the answer of the heart, how can we listen to something so obscured, that we barely understand if there's a response at all?
Coincidentia oppositorum, the unity of opposites, is a profound concept that can indeed help us understand the intricate relationship between free will, compulsion (ego), growth, discernment, and temperance.
compulsion is important to contrast and balance. There is no separateness both are vital.
Free will and compulsion might seem like opposites, but they actually work together. Compulsion (like external pressure or inner drives) helps guide our free will, making us focus and grow. Embracing both free will and compulsion helps us develop discernment (good judgment) and find balance (temperance).
Think of it like a car: free will is the gas pedal, and compulsion is the brakes. You need both to drive safely and reach your destination (growth and self-improvement). By accepting and balancing these opposites, you can make wise choices and become the best version of yourself!
Unity, in the context of the Law of One, can indeed be defined as the unison of two or more parts. This concept suggests that:
- Unity is the harmonious integration of opposites, contradictions, or diverse elements.
- It's the recognition that seemingly separate parts are, in fact, interconnected and interdependent.
- Unity is the synthesis of dichotomies, where apparent contradictions are reconciled and transcended.
- It's the understanding that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and that each part contains the essence of the whole.
In this sense, unity is not the erasure of differences but the celebration of diversity within a unified field. It's the dance of opposites, where each element enhances and complements the others, creating a beautiful, harmonious whole.
The Law of One reminds us that unity is the fundamental nature of reality, and by embracing this principle, we can transcend separations, find common ground, and become one with the universe and each other.

what would you tell a 21 year old girl who is just highly sensitive to everyone and everything, struggles with a very overactive mind and just doesn’t seem to “get” spirituality even though a lot of these concepts and teachings have been present in my life for a while? My main struggles for years now is su1cidal ideation and insecurities on the physical body and i have given up on everything because i can’t even believe in a future for me (i know i know, the future isn’t real but you get the concept). sometimes im just sick of myself because of how arrogant i sound or how badly i am wrapped in ego but…i don’t know what to do, i can go on about all the things im struggling with and even the negative forces that linger around me but im so tired and i don’t know who to reach out to. i know only i can help myself but sometimes i just feel like i need that passerby to just give me some advice or encouragement. i feel separated from everything even though i still can’t grasp the concept of “zero separation in this universe”

Aaron, I'd be very curious to hear about how these teachings apply to parenting. Not sure if you're a parent, but you think you're enlightened until you have kids! Lol. They are so embedded in the ego identity and as a parent I'd love for guidance on how to apply the law of one to sibling conflicts, teaching about responsibilities, even how they can make more heart based decisions although they are so often ego- driven.
