Welcome to the first episode of our exciting series, "See Ashtamudi." In this episode, we embark on a magical boat journey starting from the bustling Kollam Boat Jetty, navigating through the serene backwaters of Ashtamudi Lake. As we glide through the calm waters, you'll be captivated by the lush greenery, traditional Kerala villages, and the tranquil ambiance that surrounds us.
We'll pass through charming villages and halt at a jetty to load up on a delicious lunch. After enjoying our meal, the boat will head towards the historic Perumon Railway Bridge, the site of the tragic Island Express accident in 1988.

00:33- Heading to the Kollam Boat Jetty on an auto-rickshaw. Autorickshaws are available at the Kollam Railway Station parking lot for a pre-paid fare of just 50 INR. The distance from the station to the boat jetty is approximately 2 kilometers.

2:01-Akshay and I are enjoying light refreshments at the boat jetty, savoring tea, coffee, and some biscuits.

The crew also informs me that the boat will sail to the Perumon Railway Bridge, where, in 1988, the Trivandrum-bound Island Express from Bangalore plunged off the bridge, resulting in 105 lives being lost as the train's bogies fell into the water.
