  • Over the past few weeks I have gotten to look at some different versions of college football across North America and this week, by popular request, I thought it was time to take a trip over the country of Japan to look at the multiple moving parts of Japan’s version of American College Football. It is more complicated than you might think.

I play gridiron in Australia and it is growing hear but the biggest issue is we have to pay for our own gear and the games a lot slower then we are use to

    As a note:
The winner of the of the East and West playoffs play in the Koshien Bowl, which is generally Kanto vs Kansai, but in theory, one of the champions of the other conferences can defeat them in the Regional Finals and advance to the Koshien Bowl

Since the end of WW2 College football in Japan was a thing. Then came High School football and middle school/popwarner then Peewee and Flag football. Then the professional and other leagues. Japan and Germany have a good structure.

I love it! What if the best cfb team in the US, played the best cfb team of Japan or any other country that has embraced this game we all love as CFB Fans? As much as I love the concept of the two tops playing eachother, I already know the best cfb team in the US would more than likely dominate the best cfb team of any other country.

Japan all star team just beat IVY league last month in Tokyo. Although Japan football level is higher than other country but still can't touch NFL or NCAA D1. The college champion will come to USA and play game with a NAIA team this year.

These Japan teams look like high-level d-2/d3 universities, they should add some d2s or d3s from the US in their schedule every year, it would be cool for both sides to get the experience to travel once or twice a year across the world

I know its not the same but Japan has a game where their semi pro teams form an all star team and play ivy league schools. Its called the dream bowl and Japan actually won this year lol
