Soooo good!!! I've always loved Fugazi, and Joe's a HUGE influence on me as a bass player! Anthony is just brilliant, and Brendan's always been a superb drummer. This is some of my favorite new music!!!
WOW! This was one of my favourites ever! It's clear they've spent a lot of time working out those crazy complex rhythms. This is truly musician's music!
@@whatdothlife4660 yeah how dare he make a funny lighthearted joke. the audacity of him, right? we should all walk around taking things literal and completely humorless so we can have the moral superiority you do
I was first introduced to Lally because I was obsessed with anything Frusciante. I still think Ataxia and the automatic writing album had some of the most insane music ive every heard. Joe Lally's bass was unlike anything I'd ever heard. There was just so much space and gave a top notch guitarist room to scribble all over it. Freshman year of college. nothing to do but just lose my mind to that stuff. Good times
Fugazi, Ataxia, the Messthetics, all amazing. Anything Joe Lally does is just great. I would’ve loved to see Ataxia with Brendan on drums though (nothing against Josh Klinghoffer)
Inner Ocean makes me think of winter. Snow, but not super cold, but cold enough that when you go for a walk there are no others outside. Walking in a small friendly suburb, listening to the music in your head while pondering on life. Brings nostalgia and relaxing, slow vibes. Even when it gets more heated.
Been a Fugazi fan for decades and found these guys a couple years ago bought some albums, but never knew they had a Tiny Desk show until today 5 years later, nice
I get a 70s and 80s ECM guitar albums vibe here - Terje Rypdal, John Abercrombie - but what a beautiful jolt. Thank you. And I love the fact that the Superorganism fish balloon is still on a shelf.
these are some seriously amazing guitar tones. I assume his amp can't be cranked due to the environment, but maybe im wrong. His pedals doing some serious work without the amp being pushed. I love the tone. Mad respect.
Saw them this year, an I know the guy in charge of getting the gear for them since it was in portugal and they had to rent the Amp head. the guitarist wanted a jcm900, and man, the tone Was absolutely amazing, this guy know exactly what he os doing, as a gear head I was absolutely mesmerized at the sound he got out of that thing, small venue, and everything was dialed to perfection, the whole bands performance was perfect, I swear I felt the tears run down my face in shock of what I was seeing. These guy are the real deal in terms of everything.
Actually, he's got a pretty varied pedal board. But check out Henry Kaiser who Pirog plays with in another band. I think that's more the type of guy you're talking about. Here's a rig rundown for both musicians. ua-cam.com/video/i4yZdqf-o68/v-deo.html
Wow! Reminds me of a band that would show up at the "hung jury pub" or "9:30 club" (the one on f street) that would just blow you away. What an intro. You know, an opening act for Government Issue.
saw them live two days ago at a small venue. joe was signing my fugazi end hits record and i could have easily had a conversation with him, but i was shy so i said thank you and left. :@
Fugazi and Mermen caught my ear about the same time in the early 90. I’m proud to say my first web browser search as a late Gen-X kid was for the Mermen’s site. My teacher was not impressed by my choices, but I sure was.
Haha fair points.Let's not forget though, one of the most important guitar innovators in Rock history as far as gear/equipment is concerned was a drummer too.The legendary Jim Marshall...as in Marshall guitar amplification lolz.He was no amateur either,he even gave drumming lessons to young drummers who would go on to be super famous.People like Mitch Mitchell and Micky Waller.Peace/Bless
Honestly, not my kind of music. But this shit was excellent .....I loved every minute. I would play this is my car on a Friday blasting through the hip hop infested city with my windows down with my face screwed up.
Canty + Lally: the best rhythm
section in the whole world
Fact
@@chrisharquail6015 Ditto!
I can't express it better than I love them
I always say it’s either them or Sting and Copeland. So true
not Ringo and Paul?
Someone said: If you loved Fugazi your soul will love this band...We do.
I love fugazi but I'm not crazy about this. Its just jam music.
Indeed
This is the band your private lessons teacher plays in.
This is quite literally true for me lol.
@@collinlopez who's your teacher?
@@aniruddhagowda8072 Joe Lally
Same for me lol. And I do not practice enough. Why am I here?
@@collinlopez imagine having arguably the greatest bass player ever as your teacher

what a performance... classy punk mutated into a much more refined sound. Endless respect for these guys.
Its the guys from Fugazi what do you expect
We hosted these guys at our venue. The live show is as good as it gets. Nicest band on the planet too.
WOW! This was one of my favourites ever! It's clear they've spent a lot of time working out those crazy complex rhythms. This is truly musician's music!
Reminded me of Fugazi. Then I realized its Joe Lally on bass and they're signed to Dischord. Amazing.
And Brendan Canty on drums. wow!
Joe Lally looks the same but Brendan looks like he drank from the wrong grail at the end of Raiders Of The Lost Ark

The Ataxia stuff is unbelievable. Hypnotic bass lines galore. Came to fugazi/messthetics because of it too.

Love that Mr. Canty is still rocking the red Gretch drum set! Keep them tunes coming gentlemen and please come to the Bay Area!
That bass, those cymbals... hot damn
One of the best bands out there right now!
Gorgeous gorgeous. The best rhythm section in punk chillin out, still rippin as usual. Guitarist is funky as well
not the most viewed performance on Tiny Desk, but one of my favorites thus far...
I get a 70s and 80s ECM guitar albums vibe here - Terje Rypdal, John Abercrombie - but what a beautiful jolt. Thank you. And I love the fact that the Superorganism fish balloon is still on a shelf.
Just discovered Terje Rypdal and that's not too far off the mark!
The complexity is mindblowing. Thank you for this performance
Love this so much.
Love the Fugazi drum bass

It's kinda like King Crimson meets Black Sabbath meets Buckethead. If that makes any sense whatsoever to anyone...
yeah it sorta does
It does. And there's a shoegaze element too.
It's like the Ventures of the new mellinum.
Love it! I Need More. I thank you in advance for your recommendations.
Love his guitar tone!!!!!
This is the dude i see on every pedal forum posting a pic of his pedalboard consisting of 10 diffrent distortion pedals and one reverb

The main difference being this guy is actually in a band and plays music.
Half of Fugazi. This is as close as were going to get to a reunion isn't it?
coriky!
;(
Seeing these guys in May and absolutely cannot wait but still wish it was Fugazi that I am waiting to go see.
When the Biology, Math, and English teachers get together...
And kick out the music teacher out of the band haha
Good music, thank you guys!! :))
OK this is proper class. I don't know what to do first, grab a skateboard or watch Vanishing Point. Full of atmosphere, love it.
Just saw these guys open for Clutch in Cleveland. Badass!
This band completely shreds live.
I waited to see these guys till 2 or 3 am at Primavera, it was worth it.
I can't stop watching this one and the Mac Miller set :)
Sounds like the bass player and drummer from Fugazi. Which it is 🤟❤️🇨🇦
This is a great recording! Liked the music also. Someone just sent me this link and said they were playing in my home town soon so have to go see them
Awesome. My new favourite band.
