Transatlantic history was made on April 3, 1948, when US President Harry Truman signed the Economic Cooperation Act of 1948, later known as the Marshall Plan. To mark the occasion, the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies hosted an expert conference on the future of Euroatlantic security and prosperity on March 28, 2023, in Berlin. General Christopher G. Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, NATO and Commander, United States European Command delivered the keynote speech, reflecting on the legacy of the Marshall Plan and its lessons for today.
