Stay on top of the oil and filter changes and valve checks. It happens very frequently in this category of bikes. Some people's Huskys were still going like new at 10k miles. I've also seen people who were terrible at keeping up with the maintenance and needed a 3500-mile rebuild. Also, don't let rebuilds scare you. They are a couple hundred bucks at the most if you diy it.
Idk I think surron or talaria has a slight advantage being that you can ride on any set of stairs you see or try and jump any old hill you see. This 450 supermoto you prob have to stay on the road since it's street legal and licensed.
Last year I got a rebuilt Honda XR650L. Similar to your Husky. Man, I can’t stop smiling every time I ride that bike. The sport bikes are fun no doubt but sometimes it gets too intense. But the Big Red Pig, it’s just flat out fun man.
Older XR 400 here, same thing. My “ happy place “ is wot across the Arizona desert! But at 58 with a pacemaker I’m starting to look for something with electric start. But I’ll hang on to the Tractor!
@@rvtech101 , Man I’d love to be able to go WOT through the Arizona desert on my BRP. That’s where she’s at home. Nothing but twisties here in East TN where I’m at. Sometimes I think of going Super Moto. I seen an XR400 for sale by Kaplan America. That shit was badass!!
@@kenkl5204 Sure it is, but you are talking close to a 8 grand usd price difference. Not to mention upkeep is a buttload more expensive, ya gotta adjust the valves like every 3rd ride, and parts and accessories aren’t cheap. Mystical 16 is excited to have a nice bike he can take out and flog. We can have just as much fun as anyone on a KTM ( Husky), gasgas, beta, or any other high dollar bike. I’m looking at a Honda 300 Rally, but I’ll still keep the Tractor!
Take care of that bike, their electronics and engine tend to be a little bit problematic, (i had both a 450 and a 510 supermoto), btw the suspension of the smr is really good, stiff but as much as a supermoto needs to be
How many hours are on it? 3300 miles is usually a lot for a dirt bike but does Husq not use hours at all ? I’ve only had dirt bikes that use hour intervals for maintenance. Anyway I’m sure you’re on top of all that already but if not it’s worth getting a valve adjustment or whatever is called for if it’s not already done. The other great thing at dirt riding is your son can join you License or no

Supermoto gives you the most fun outside of a closed track. But I agree that bike is ugly.
Haha, I gotta make it pretty

I'd run through it and overhaul it man. Sounds kinda rough at only 3300 miles.
It’s the way all the new bikes are, every other ride you need to do the valves, every 4th ride is rebuild the top end!

Soft Enduro?
That's a thing of the past, sadly.
This is why supermotos are better then sports bikes
3800 bucks? You practically stole it from the dude
