I have a question, maybe you can try this or you might think I’m just a nut case, but please hear me out. Why can’t a strong flow of water coming out of a hose be pointed down into a 5 gallon bucket, im guess 7 inches from the bottom. After it classified like so many people do now and As the classified material is poured in won’t the light material start boiling out the top of the bucket? The reason I’m asking this is I used to be a lineman and we used to jet poles in the ground without ever digging a hole. I may not be considering the really really fine good that’s why I’m asking, if you decide to check this out please let me know... Thank you
Yes that theory works and some prospectors use that way to find gold. It is called a fluid bed method. I have seen some one at the river using a 5 gal bucket like you said or a more popular way is a sluice box called the bazooka that uses a fluid bed. Hope that helps!
American Gold Prospectors thanks for replying. It sounds like a lot less things to haul, I was just curious if my theory was close... I don’t mine or pan for good but I love watching gold being found, best regards
Bill C., I’ve done stuff similar to what you describe, but the problem with your theory is that the force of the upflowing water will raise smaller gold.
my gold rush nugget bucket works sort of like that its a fluid bed and classifier the step in beyween uses a funnel to transport the slurry down to a bowl and the flow of the slurry raises the lighter material out. I did multiple tailing tests and consistantly am geting around 98% recovery. it even catches fine gold down to 100 mesh and smaller.
