  • 🏍️ Join me on my very last motorcycle journey, a moment filled with reflection and poignant emotions as I say goodbye to a significant chapter of my life. Riding has been a gateway to freedom and adventure, but today, I choose to close this road with a memorable final ride. Witness the landscapes, the quiet thoughts, and the ultimate farewell to my trusty BMW R 1150 GSA.

    Hopefully the new owner will have as much fun on their adventures as you had on yours! I appreciate your take on life and not wanting to take the risk. I've watched for a long time, never really commented much, but I just wanted to say I'll miss the bike too! I enjoyed the rides out into the desert. All the best.

    It's a big day. The bond you make with a bike over an extended period of time is forged on the open road, not at your local Starbucks on a Saturday morning - you're a major rider - respect sir! I'm 62, so I get your whole age concern piece. Two years ago I got my final bike (Guzzi V7 850 Special) leaving high speed and low lean angles behind. So far done 11K miles on her. Not regretting so far. Your bike was a beaut, and from the right GS period in my opinion. We're sad to lose another biker from the brotherhood, but as a parting gift, please promise not to throw your leg over an eBike. Angels cry at that sort of thing.

      Thank you for your heartfelt message and warm regards. I really appreciate it. Your own motorcycle journey sounds wonderful and I'm glad that you are keeping it up at a safe and ready pace that matches your interest and maturity. And what I mean by maturity is your improved understanding of both the risks and consequences that come with age and experience. My next two-wheel vehicle should be a regular bicycle. However, my wife would like to go on e-bike rides so I will probably get an e-bike so that she and I can enjoy those outings together. It's a new world. I wish you all the best. Thank you again for your thoughtful comment. ☀️

    I turned 67 in February. I quit riding back in 2018 after 48 years. Except for a couple of off-road mishaps I made it through unscathed. My last bike was a 2009 R1200GS. I had a total of 4 GSes including an 02 GS Adventure nearly indentical to your 03. I quit for the same reason as you.

      Your bike lineup sounds very nice. I'm glad that you were able to find a good compromise that works for you. I hope we both can enjoy many years of comfortable, pain-free walking and life in the time that remains. ☀️

    I've been riding since I was 15, 52 years now. I'm on a 2022 r1250gs. No intention of giving it up....ever.

    Pretty crazy to think that bike's going from the California desert to the artic circle! Geez, didn't know you were 60 mate, good work. I work in a place that sells landscape and gardening supplies, got a 60 year old guy working there you'd think was about 45 (if you didn't take a close look at him), or even 35 when you see him living heavy paving slabs.

    I don’t understand your logic. At 67 I spend more time on motorcycles now than at any time in my life as I have the time to enjoy what the can do to enhance my life. Why do you think that your accident free record will come crashing down post 60. These days I have reasonably small, reasonably light bikes but bikes that can take me and my camping gear across continents and to the top of mountains. I won’t be giving that up anytime soon. Perhaps you’re feeling too old to lug around a heavyweight dinosaur like the GS but that’s no reason to stop riding altogether. I also have an E-bike and enjoy that too but I feel far more vulnerable on that that I do on any of my motorcycles.

      @softypapa  17 днів тому

      It’s not that I’m particularly worried about crashing at this age, as much I’m concerned about how long it might take for me to heal. Also, motorcycles simply do not interest me much anymore. I have many other things I’d rather do with my time. I wish you all the best with your endeavors! :-)
