    Beginners and those practicing only flashy moves gets hurt because they twirl the chuck by the chain/rope when striking as explained in the video. The video is right. Your arms should be fully extended, the nunchuck almost if not fully pulled into s straight line so that it feels like it's pulling away from your hand. To add to the video, the more you follow through instead of stopping, the more it wont bounce back and the safer it is. I find that if you do it right, the stronger the strike the better. Also I agree with some Okinawan styles that you hold the nunchuck either at the end of the handle or leave just 2 to 3 inches. This gives it the maximum reach and power. The nearer the chain the eisier it is for flashy movents but the less powerful and the shorter the reach.

    This video confirms what I've been saying all along " nunchucks are only as good as it's user ". This video combats ShadVerity's video which states that nunchucks are an inferior weapon because of the re-coil (bounce back effect) and lack of power. This is why when I get into a debate with someone about the effectiveness of nunchucks, the first question I ask them (before we start making our points) is: ARE YOU ANY GOOD WITH THEM?

    • @theterrestrial3267
      @theterrestrial3267 2 роки тому +2

      Exactly! Only someone un or barely trained would employ techniques like that in actual combat

      @cliffordhill2365 2 роки тому +1

      You're spot on fellow. When I ask them that question before we start the debate, they usually ask " what does that have to do with anything? " then they proceed to get offended lol!

      At this point, Shad has stopped caring if he is right about this subject. He just wants to make more videos to get more clicks, but his lack of knowledge has made me stop watching any other video he posts. I get posting things for content because you want to say something wrong, but it ruins his credibility in other areas if that is his goal. Now I wonder what he really knows about swords and am starting to look for others who can give me information about them.

    • @cliffordhill2365
      @cliffordhill2365 Рік тому

      Sorry to say mattbronsil, but your suspicions about Shad are correct, he's after clicks. As for myself, I stay in my lane. I am a nunchuck Master with over 40yrs of experience and by all standards I am world class (which is why it's so easy for me to refute Shads claims). I thank you for your reply and want to wish you well in your quest for knowledge about swords (sorry I'm not one who can help you with swords info).

    • @Elcapitanno.1

      You guys are absolutely right. The only good argument Shad had was that the average person who first picks up Nunchucks would probably not know how to effectively use them. This may be the case, but they are not worse than garbage! Just because it requires training to use properly does not mean it's a terrible weapon. Honestly, the same argument could be used for a gun. an in-experienced gunner could easily cause an accident.

    4:09 Good video, but if you watch how Bruce Lee strikes with the nunchaku in Way of the Dragon, you'll see that he is doing it correctly in a way where it doesn't matter where he is hitting with the nunchaku, either on the very tip or further down. What's most important to know here is that you should hold the nunchaku further down the handle as well as make your strikes when you arm is properly extended away from your own body. That way if there is any bounce back there is very little danger to yourself. One problem with what you are demonstrating here is that you are not really displaying that proper arm extension and you are also only hitting with the point on a static target. If you show it as I just explained, it wouldn't matter if your target suddenly moved in closer and caught the nunchaku further down. The one thing that doesn't change, even if your opponent does, is that your intended strike always has to be when your arm is properly extended. You never modify this to what your opponent is doing by striking short of your own intentions as that's how you will hurt yourself. Edit: The idea of using a smaller strings over the longer ones that you typically see Bruce Lee use is also a bad idea if you are wanting to prevent the bounce back issue. It's also better to have a longer chain than a shorter one so that you don't limit the weapon's functional versatility.

    With yourself hitting the punch bag, that alone proves the nunchucku can be used as a weapon. Using the nunchucku is like a punch, where the force is forward moving. Bounce back only happens when the user is not pushing the striking force forward. Conclusion, nunchucku is fine to use as a weapon, if you are like rbis guy with knowledge to use it. Like myself, I use this weapon for the last 25 years.
