Great tips. It is also very important to know material of the jeans. I usually go for natural fiber(cotton, viscose, lyocell etc) and max of 2% elastane
Thank you so much for this video! I feel like this is going to make the process for jeans shopping so much easier. I really appreciated you showing your friend as an example too of what jeans can look like on different body types. Have a wonderful day.
I'm so glad you mentioned POCKETS because I just bought a pair of jeans on Poshmark and the pockets were huge and placed lower than what is flattering. I kept trying to ignore the fact that they didn't look good and now I have to face that I won't be happy with them and I shouldn't keep them at all! You are so right! The pockets are a critical piece of the buying decision.
I'm happy to high rise jeans back. I have a long torso but, unlike in my youth, I found at 5'7" I'm no longer considered tall so I need to know the actual inseam of my jeans. Carrying a tape measure to check jeans labeled by height rather than inseam saves time, too. Thanks for the great info, Erin. XXOO ❤️
Love this video ! I’ve grown tired of skinny jeans and straight jeans ! Iam short 5”2 and I always have to have them hemmed because their to long ( even petite length ) I like boot cut so I bought a pair and I did have to shorten them but I love them, Iam glad to see their still in style ! Hi Erin, I love the look of the flare jean; however bought a pair and they slouch/puddle at the foot. I read where they should not be more than 1" off the ground. Do you agree with this max 1" rule? And if so, how do you get them to look sleek rather than puddle?
Both those pocket placements looked good on your backside 😆 I would also recommend double checking your inseam. I used to be 5'9 and if I wanted to wear heels I needed a 36" inseam. Somehow I lost an inch after having kids. I ordered a 36" inseam and they are too long even in my highest heels. I needed to adjust 😁
Thank you for so much great information. Love the idea that save me time trying on in dressing room. These tip will definitely same me the frustration and time when buying jeans.
Hi Erin, just bought 2 new pairs of jeans. High waist unfortunately were so uncomfortable and lower rise felt perfect on my 6 foot frame. I went to see my fave band Psychadelic Furs last night and wanted to be comfortable sitting so long. I searched your videos for ways to style them shoes etc. I appreciate all your videos so much. Thankyou again 🤗
Even though I'm average height, I'm long in the torso. I can't stand high rise either. I have two pairs right now since I ditched all my skinnies, but I don't really like them. I'm wearing them only to stay more modern 😅😅😅
Awesome! This came at the perfect time as I decided this evening would be when I begin looking for some new jeans! I just love your videos! Thank you so much! Oh, I'll check out the app you mentioned as well!
I've been 'using the force' to intuitively shop for jeans for years, and mostly did ok (well except for that one pair of wide-leg which were great except for the ultra-early-oughts-low-rise show-your-butt-thing). . . but I appreciate how you named all the components here so it's easier to be more systematic about it. The inseam is a big one for me. Don't wear heels much, but still need a 33" inseam for fool-proof coverage. 'Almost long enough' jeans make me grumpy :)
Erin you have taught me so much through the years and with that has come a lot of encouragement inspiration and joy I need to refer to the like to know it app thank you for that reminder your professional knowledge is over the top Amy Gerges ❤your biggest fan
The split hem is great to wear when you really want to highlight your shoes! So a nice bootie with a tighter fit at the ankle, a chic sneaker, heels, modern pointed toe flats... lots of options with the split hem! xo
Erin, did you ever make a video that talks about shoes (that are not boots) to wear with jeans?👖❤ I have been very conscientious about “not” buying shoes that look dated just because they are comfortable and I noticed in the photos you featured you have on a cute platform sandal in a tan that has a cross strap over the front toes with a flare jean so…this helped me solidify purchasing my Aerosoles version of that sandal. Those photos you insert have always been very helpful for me. Thank you as always for making things as simple as possible to understand so I can implement all these tips & trickery 😂❤
One last thought when buying jeans in the holiday season when your weight may be fluctuating more. Kut brand has so much stretch that I can put them in the dryer when I drop those extra holiday pounds! They fit me no matter if I have gained or lost weight.
This is a great video, Erin. Thank you. Not a big fan of the split hem but I’ve been seeing them everywhere. My favorite jeans are mid to low rise so I was so happy to see them make a comeback. I also loved the pleat seam down the front or back. Remember those?? Pocket placement is key especially if you have no butt. 🙋🏼♀️Lol.
Thanks for your videos I've gathered some great helpful tips. I was wondering though about measuring the inseam, do you go to the floor or top of foot when measuring on your self?
So glad this was helpful! It depends on what shoes you plan to wear with the jeans. For flares, bootcut, and wide leg styles you will want your jeans to hit 1/2" - 3/4" off of the ground - with your shoes on. Cropped length is a whole different story - you'd want that to hit right at or above the ankle bone. Hope this helps! xo
Just subbed, where have you been all my life? Nearly an empty nester and moving out, I was shocked at the amount of pants I have, most of which I do not use because they do not look good on me even if I fitted them before buying. This was so helpful (even though it’s for jeans buying I picked up tips for pants purchasing) Greetings from Abu Dhabi and thank you so much!!
This was a great video! For 40 years I worked in an office and I owned only two pairs…..a dressy pair and a pair for yard work ! Now I’m 63 WFH and own several pairs. I know about the rise and length, but I didn’t know about pocket placement! Thanks for that very important tip.
Love your channel. This was good. After soooooooo many jeans, Levi's Ribcage Bell and 726 Highrise flare jeans fit me the best. I was ready and willing to drop some serious cash!!! I tried on Rag and Bone, Mother, Veronica Beard, Hudson, Sevens, cheaper no names..... no luck!! I have visceral fat (working to lose it but it is the last thing to go) with broad shoulders, a large bust, and narrow hips and legs (think maternity body lolll 😇😇🤣🤣). Great video Eryn, I used to love my low rise True Religion jeans that I’d always purchase when we travelled to the USA 🇺🇸 because they were so much cheaper over there than here in Australia 🇦🇺 and loved the little bit of bling detail on them, But now I love more the high rise jeans, they seem to fit my body shape much better as I’ve gotten older, although my weight hasn’t changed in years, I’ve noticed my body shape has, I haven’t changed anything in my normal lifestyle but those low rise jeans just look awful on me, I’ve got them stored away because even though they were cheaper than here to purchase they still cost me a couple of hundred dollars and I don’t know what to do with them to get some wear out of them, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I hate just seeing them sitting in my drawer not being worn. Cheers from Nellie from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺❤️❤️
You should sell them on Ebay! The youngsters to today are loving those 90s and Y2K jeans... along with other clothing we all wore back then. I also still have a bunch of TR jeans in my closet that I should list on there soon to sell. :) Take that money and buy new jeans :)
It can really differ from one style to the next, even within specific brands - so you always want to double check the pockets! I have had great luck with L'Agence though, which was what I showed as my example in this video! Here's a link to that pair: go.magik.ly/ml/1o0nr/
I would love to sometimes buy shoes that can go with black jeans and dressier black or grey pants or skirts/dress if possible to stretch my budget. Is that even possible?

Love your videos 😍 another tipp for pear shape ladies with most of the weight on the legs. I always check the material, if the jeans got stretch or not, if not, it never fit. Best wishes from germany.
Here's a link to the pair I was wearing in this video, with those higher pockets: go.magik.ly/ml/1odhm/ The pocket size and placement can be so different for each style even within specific brands though, so it is always something to look out for when shopping. Thanks for watching, Amy! xo
If you have quite a few different lengths, just keep similar length pairs sorted together. I can tell with most of mine pretty easily just by eye balling it, but it does help to sort them into similar lengths when you're putting your laundry away. xo
Here's a link to the pair I was wearing in this video, with those higher pockets: go.magik.ly/ml/1odhm/ The pocket size and placement can be so different for each style even within specific brands though, so it is always something to look out for when shopping. Thanks for watching, Angie! xo
I have learned so much from you. I now check the inseam and I know what I need. I know now how to look for all the wants in a jean before blindly buying. I do wonder, though, if you know or have mentioned and I missed....for us Petites- if the cropped flare "tall" is say 29" and I need a 29" inseam to not need a hem, does that work to buy or does it throw off the style?
So glad you're finding my tips helpful for you, Sherry! Buying cropped styles and wearing them as full length is a GREAT hack for us petites! Pay attention to that inseam, just like you are! xo
The greatest challenge for petites is flared or bootcut - tailoring ruins the entire shape of the lower leg by cutting the bottom off! Learned this the hard way in my youth. I will only buy flares or bootcut in petite (29" for me). But they are so hard to find! Even Hudson Petite is now 31". I guess they assume every petite woman wants to wear heels?
So frustrating! The measurements are always different between brands, but it's even more difficult when the ones you love change their lengths too. I'd recommend looking for ankle or cropped lengths for a 29" inseam, and you will be able to wear it as a full length style. Some crops will be shorter, so make sure to always pay attention to that inseam length. Madewell has some lovely options for petites that you can take a look at here: go.magik.ly/ml/1o291/ Hope this helps! xo
Any chance you’re still working on the purse you’d previously done videos about? It looked like it was going to be incredible and I’ve been hoping it may still be coming
Unfortunately, we are no longer working on producing the handbag. Here's an update on that, in a recent Q & A video, for you to check out: ua-cam.com/video/qWPSHBtZOAg/v-deo.html
Fantastic! I took notes, this will make life much easier when it comes to jean shopping for these little legs. Now, how about doing the same for the dreaded bra shopping! Lol
While in Malaysia I met a girl in the market and we were talking about her national dress and she asked me, “what is America’s national dress”. I thought about it because compared to other cultures we don’t have such specific dress codes. I answered “jeans, it’s the code for men and women and is accepted across the country”. She thought was so crazy that men and women have the same nationally acceptable dress code. It was so interesting to watch her process it. Made me realize how different it is for women here. I’ll never forget it.
Great tips. It is also very important to know material of the jeans. I usually go for natural fiber(cotton, viscose, lyocell etc) and max of 2% elastane

You should sell them on Ebay! The youngsters to today are loving those 90s and Y2K jeans... along with other clothing we all wore back then. I also still have a bunch of TR jeans in my closet that I should list on there soon to sell. :) Take that money and buy new jeans :)
Wear them with “untucked” tshirts or sweaters.
Thx, Erin! QUESTION: which jean brands have smaller, high pockets on the bum?
It can really differ from one style to the next, even within specific brands - so you always want to double check the pockets! I have had great luck with L'Agence though, which was what I showed as my example in this video! Here's a link to that pair: go.magik.ly/ml/1o0nr/
As I am about to get a new jeans, this is so useful. Thank you Erin 💕
Perfect timing! SO glad these tips are helpful in preparing for your jean shopping! xo
I would love to sometimes buy shoes that can go with black jeans and dressier black or grey pants or skirts/dress if possible to stretch my budget. Is that even possible?
A black ankle bootie would be a perfect option! This is a great option that can be dressed up or down: rstyle.me/+dw6oMnsh4ow5KwvyL3d7Vg
Here's another option to consider, with a lower heel and more squared toe: go.magik.ly/ml/1o29b/

Thanks so much for sharing your own favorites! xo
Love your videos 😍 another tipp for pear shape ladies with most of the weight on the legs. I always check the material, if the jeans got stretch or not, if not, it never fit. Best wishes from germany.
Great tip to add, Martina! Thanks so much for watching! xo
Could you tell me the brand of the jeans with the higher pockets?
Here's a link to the pair I was wearing in this video, with those higher pockets: go.magik.ly/ml/1odhm/ The pocket size and placement can be so different for each style even within specific brands though, so it is always something to look out for when shopping. Thanks for watching, Amy! xo
I wish I could wear Veronica Beard jeans! They are sooo cute, but way too long!! Ty hun!!🌸💕
How are you marking your jeans so you can grab the correct inseam length jeans when you are dressing in a hurry? Or sorting the laundry?
If you have quite a few different lengths, just keep similar length pairs sorted together. I can tell with most of mine pretty easily just by eye balling it, but it does help to sort them into similar lengths when you're putting your laundry away. xo
Erin what brand is the jean you are modeling with the small pockets?

@@BusbeeStyle thanks Erin 😊 Love those!! Love raw hem too
A great video. Thank you beautiful lady
The tailor by me in Chicago.... getting the orig denim bottom... add $28 to the cost of the jeans...
Pay attention to that inseam, just like you are! xo
Is there a way to search LTK by creators' height/weight/shape?
Thx, Erin. Buying jeans has become almost as much fun as buying a swimsuit! /sarc😂
It really can be SO tough to find the perfect jeans... That's why I'm here to help, Cathy! Thanks for watching! xo
I am annoyed that when I order petite size jeans they are still too long for me. I still need them to be hemmed and thus the frustration.
Always double check those inseams, Debbie! That is what makes all the difference on length for me!
Here's an update on that, in a recent Q & A video, for you to check out: ua-cam.com/video/qWPSHBtZOAg/v-deo.html
can broad shoulder wear shoulder pad??(
Fantastic! I took notes, this will make life much easier when it comes to jean shopping for these little legs. Now, how about doing the same for the dreaded bra shopping! Lol
Wow! You look like a model!
How to wear a coat over a Blazer? And how i waer a blazer in Winter?
Where is the link to the burgundy turtleneck you are wearing in this video and in the recent shirt you posted?
*Short not shirt
So glad you enjoyed that one! Here's the link for you! xo

Very interesting indeed. Thanks for sharing that, Cara. xo
