      That's amazing you say that! Exactly what we're aiming for! (It does mean however, that sometimes the most in depth details get missed however, but luckily you're making your incredibly thorough videos- so they can work together!). Thank you again!

      That's so funny Ayanna! Arianna and I were talking about this a couple of weeks ago- how much easier our training would have been too! Everybody understanding and enjoying medicine slightly more is only a good thing for all of us and for our patients. Thanks so much for watching and for commenting (and for recognizing that it does take a lot of time! ha!).

    Am I spending my evenings binge-watching NICU Tala Talks videos? Maybe...
    Thank you for the great work. This video is PACKED with useful information. I also really enjoyed the one with the two quick formulas (for fluid rate and full enteral feeds). No topic is too small to make a video about. It will always be appreciated :)

      Oh wow thank you Naitram! That comment makes us all so happy. I think I have a love hate relationship with NEC- it's so fascinating but I hate (I tell my kids never to use that word, and here I am!) it so much when it affects our patients. We just have to sit and wait and hope they improve. Again thank you for being here, and keeping us motivated with your lovely comments.

    I really appreciated the summary of Bells staging. Thank you for going over not just fact regurgitation but truly taking the time to explain your thought process when you discussed this topic. I also really enjoyed the way you went over the history portion (i.e. things to look for when you're concerned about NEC) and the way you discussed the timeline of when an infant presents with sx and why you would be more concerned for SIP rather than NEC. Brava!

    My premiee baby has been diagnose of NEC. She went into surgery about two weeks ago. That created a stoma for her but her body never recognized the stoma but created a fistula for her waste. They decided to use that and started feeding. She was doing great with feeding and all her vitals were good. Today a mucus like fluid with dirty blood came out from her anus and they think it’s the dead intestines that came out. Want to know if it’s possible for the dead intestines to come out like that and still have healthy ones in they for surgery

    • @TalaTalksNICU
      @TalaTalksNICU  2 роки тому

      Oh Pamela- we are so sorry to hear about your baby. The intestine has many layers- so if the inner one 'dies' then that can be passed in the stool (a lot of normal stool is intestinal cells). We really hope she continues to heal- and you have the strength to get through this too. Sending love XX

    16:48 " Whole gut is sick" is an ambiguous phrase also you did not show any X-ray to elucidate it. I wish you support the different pathological changes on Labs with Pathogenesis. eg why there is Respiratory Acidosis, why there is bone marrow suppression, why there is hyponatremia, and others and others

      Hello! You make great comments. We're trying so hard here to bridge the line between the pathophysiology of a disease and clinically/ bedside helpful information. There's SO much to cover with NEC that at some point we had to stop. (Part 1 details a lot more about how the gut becomes sick). We hope you find the information you are looking for! Thanks for watching :)
