The key idea ,is that dr townes knew that he could get more exited states molecules than absorbtion states ones, thus getting a net emission of short waves.this is the breakthroigh,i think.
Charles Townes was a skilled rip-off artist even if a well-known physicist, who co-invented the Maser (microwave, not light, amplification).. He did not invent the laser--just some theoretical work that did not produce a laser. Theodore Maiman is the true inventor of the laser, using his own ideas, design, and materials--succeeding in May, 1960. This is well-documented in many reputable sources.
Odd statement, "Charles Townes was a skilled rip-off artist." That is untrue and misleading. Townes was instrumental with the intellectual and practical development of the laser. Gould, Townes, Schawlow, Basov, and Prokhorov play leading roles in development of the laser principle. (1957-58)Theodore Maiman developed the ruby laser (1960) and deserves ample credit. The term "laser" was actually coined years earlier by Gordon Gould. It seems reasonably obvious the term "laser" evolved from the "maser."ua-cam.com/video/DESSPuq63nw/v-deo.html
I think he must be very smart judging by how high his pants are.
RIP Dr. Townes :(

This isn’t the guy who invented the laser because the guy who did died 😕
Caught you on 4k
He completely has forgotten the guy for got the patents on the laser, and who collected the royalties; Gordon Gould
Gould invented the name 'Laser' (not very difficult, once the name 'Maser' was around). The guy who built the first working laser was Theodore Maiman.

Lasers came from the Roswell crash, word on the street is
@@johnpark888 which street would that be exactly? Skid row?
@@Muonium1 more like word on the internet and fiber optics, then on the street tbh
he was a laser specroscopist and did theoretical work for the laser. He is one of the inventors of the laser
He invented Masers not Lasers.
