    Thank you so much for the coverage and the support! One quick correction, the world is procedurally generated, but it will be the same seed for each playthrough. This was also the case in Daggerfall. So each player starts with the exacts same map and world state. Taking advantage of the procedural generation though, we can have some things within the world change depending on the events of the playthrough, such as a city caught in the middle of a faction war being burned to the ground or potentially parts of a dungeon becoming flooded. Thus we can add some dynamicness to the world and keep new playthroughs feeling fresh.
    Thanks again for the coverage, this was a great video!

    I donated $1000 (which is a huge risk I know) in order to be able to support and make a Grand Inquisitor in the game. Looking forward to giving feedback on this game when the time comes. Great video.

    The climbing is indeed awesome... I had a grin ear to ear the first time I saw that. It's great. Friendly fire is also cool. I wonder if it is something players will need to avoid in co-op... I could see it going either way but am personally hopeful friendly fire is something the players will have to plan for as well.
    As for the proc-gen world... My understanding is that OLG will proc-gen the world using seeds so the starting state of the world should always be the same but player choices and events that occur during a playthrough can alter the game world so that some things may change from one playthrough to the next or even within the same playthrough. E.G. Farms or villages being destroyed, the control of certain territories changing from one faction to another... stuff like that. It's really kind of the best of both worlds... You get a huge world created by proc-gen but that recieves handcrafted touches to make things distinct and then you do still get differences in the world from one playthrough to the next but more based on what a player does and how world events occur than from a different game world being generated from the start, No two playthroughs should be same.
    It was cool to hear your thoughts and I wholeheartedly agree with pretty much all of your feelings on TWR. It's going to be the RPG so many of us have been waiting for and I think an RPG that so many will not even realize they wanted until they play it. Sorry for the wall of text. I get excited thinking of the game and considering the possibilities.

      Don't apologize for walls of text. People who complain about that type of stuff are poor readers. I read the whole thing very fast and never once was frustrated lol. I usually disregard people who say "Didn't read, wall of text". Idiocy.

    I don't know how much they turned down or how many times but I was in the discord a few back when they were talking about walking away from one potential investor...they did not get too much into to but my understanding is that these people actually care about their vission and they are not just trying to get a quick cash grab from just anybody that comes along waving money.
    They want to work with people that will give them the freedom to create their vission any realize the goals that they had for daggerfall but were limited by technology at that time.
    I am most excited about the lore of this game...and I can tell there is going to be a lot of moral ambiguity.

      Lore of the World is for sure awesome. One of the things I am most excited for when EA releases is learning the creation myths of the world... and I too am Definitely glad they are turning down money in favor of creating the game as they envision it. Hopefully EA gives them the Leverage they need to get a good deal with a publisher that is willing to stay hands-off

    You're right. Most triple A games nowadays only focus on graphics. The ones that have good gameplay and story are few and far between. Latest one I really liked though was Alan Wake 2 (2023). Remedy has such a way with worldbuilding.

    First time I ever backed something before... did it yesterday. I'm pretty stoked about it, but I have some specific doubts about features listed on their page. The virtual game master idea sounds like it could lead to some pretty terrible and immersion breaking experiences, dragging down the quality of the game. Machine learning is not even remotely ready to give too much control over to in a game. Not only that, but this game is designed to be played for hundreds of hours, and machine learning simply doesn't have the ability to maintain that much context throughout the game save. Not even trillion dollar companies have solved that. I would rather the money go into developing more and more quality quest content.
    Something I am really excited about is the size. I know it doesn't make a good game, but if it is a genuine effort to travel like it was in the older ES games (yeah you could buy a boat trip), then you're more invested in exploring as much of each area as you can before you move on. There's a ton of opportunity there to make cities full of dense content worth making a voyage to see. 500,000 sq km is 4 times the size of my actual State, which is amazing. Probably going to have to dedicate an SSD for this game though 😆

      @OnceLostGames 3 місяці тому +2

      Thank you for the support. To maybe quell a little of your concerns about the VGM, it isn't just an AI making things up. The Machine Learning is only an aspect of it to help it recognize what the player prefers to do and the interactions they have had. The quest templates are created by writers with the VGM meant to fill in the variables with things that are relevant to the player. In essence, our writers make the decisions, and the VGM adds variety to those.

    It's shocking to learn how uniformed most are, and a quick glance in any Comments section reveals that almost no one can even construct a proper sentence. I didn't think I could get more cynical.

    I totally agree with you on the combat physics, like when the weapon stays stucks in the head a lil bit.
    What i like most tho is just how atmospheric this game seems to be. Its got that old school style, for exemple in that necromencer chamber, theres not much to it but its how it should look in my opoinion. These days they try to cram to much everywhere i feel. That chamber looks dark, cold and dusty with that ancient throne in the middle.

    • @BaneofMills247
      @BaneofMills247  Місяць тому

      I agree to some extent. Alot of games have too little in my opinion, just focusing on pure graphics and whatnot. I think rooms need to feel alive to create immersion. So maybe you're right about the necromancer room being empty, but as long as a lived-in house looks "lived in" etc, certain rooms can have more empty, dusty and dreary atmospheres as long as it suits the narrative. To extend on what you said I don't think the room should be completely empty. Maybe a few tables, some broken chairs and bottles etc. Unless the necromancer likes to make his thralls keep the place extra tidy 🤣

    You mentioned Story several times. In a recent interview the creator of this game says there is no story or like no main story or even an ending. I was REALLY excited about the game but worried that there won't really be any direction or path to play. Yes we can just "live our own lives" or whatever but still seems like you would want some direction or something.

    • @BaneofMills247
      @BaneofMills247  Місяць тому +1

      Right. It's a little disappointing but considering that most games these days have horrible stories/writing or just run the risk of doing something that's already been done before, no story is a safe choice. Also, if you've played Daggerfall I think most would agree that they remember very little of the main story. When I played Daggerfall the most fun I had was just exploring and developing my character. The sheer scale of the game writes its own story in a way. When I played Daggerfall I just maxed out the mages and fighters guild and got mega rich. That was pretty much my story. I think that's kind of direction they want to go again and that's totally fine by me. It takes more of an imaginative effort on the players part to enjoy a true open world adventure like this.

    I'm not sure I ever played dagger falls I played Skyrim and the one before that. I think I might like it I have already supported it but not sure I'll be able to play it unless it comes to consoles. But my favorite is Kingdom come deliverance and Red Dead redemption two.

      Daggerfall is a must play at least once imo. Even if you have a super cheap laptop it would be able to run just fine on it. Also its free.
      Then there's lots of amazing vanilla+ mods to improve the graphics and atmosphere immensely.

      @@DragonmasterKeel I've heard them say that in the game, a werewolf is in no way related to a regular wolf, and people only call it that because it kind of looks wolfish, so hopefully that means it will indeed look wolflike. Why does it look so incredibly bad? Film grain? In 2024?! Also it looks like "magic system" is a stretch goal that they aren't going to reach... Lowest tier to get the game is $40 (fourty f-ing bucks now to get a game, maybe, in years from now!). My guess is this is never coming out.
