exactly... also I find peculiar how they'll say Russia strategy (assuming they know what it is, which they don't) has been a "failure" while the full country is "ravaged" - if they've been struggling to barely hold on to 20% of country, how is the whole country ravaged? Let's remember the Russians by and large have not hit civilian infrastructure with the deliberate aim to destabilize society and turn the people against their gov't, like the US have done in Iraq, Libya, Syria - even staging a chemical attack to false-flag the regime-to-be-changed there...

Grant is one of the chief propagandists for the Australian ABC Network, and probably one of the most prolific. Most of Grant's propaganda is focused on acclimatizing the Australian population for war with China, but he occasionally redirects his efforts to other Washington backed conflicts around the World. This "polite young man" was shut down by Grant because he dared to mention the thousands that have been killed by the Washington owned Ukrainian-puppets military attack on the Russian speaking population in the Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts in the East of Ukraine since the Washington (Victoria Nuland) Coup of 2014.

Now I don't know how true the 30,000+ number is (no one truly does), but there are several reasons why the Russians are taking such heavy losses some of them are:

      2. They are in essence "brute forcing" their way through territory, while Ukraine is by in large willing to withdraw their forces if it's not a vital space of land.
      3. Ukraine is the "home" country so they know the land much more than Russia does.

Even Macron comment was biased. Talking about 'humiliating Russia, Putin". I don't think that's on the cards. I think it's the other way around. The EU is realising the complete mess it has helped sustain and there will be long term consequences including Energy insecurity, political insecurity, and an increased and ongoing level of risk, even after Russia accomplishes its objectives in Ukraine, which it will. After they tried for 8 years to negotiate a settlement, they will achieve their military objectives in Ukraine. The idea they won't is also western bias/strategy to help to send more weapons and prolong the war. Ukraine can't win. And the entire continent will be less secure. The entire conflict was avoidable. If not for American hubris and soft imperialism, and obsessive fixation with weakening both Russia and China (Russia is a lot easier for USA to try to weaken at this point though).
Literally this whole war is about the USA wanting to put more military bases and forces into the most sensitive possible "country" to Russia, Ukraine. Ukraine has been a part of Russia for like 1,000 years but nobody in USA knows that of course. The idea that Russians would just accept this is crazy, why does U.S. govt push so much for it? Why not simply say to Russian govt ok we won't ever make Ukraine into a military alliance? What is the "cost" for USA of that sort of a compromise? The only "cost" is a psychological one, since USA thinks it is the world's #1 and doesn't have to ever make any agreement with any other country for any reason.
And the "sanctions" are profoundly immoral and also wrecking havoc worldwide. And are probably going to cost Biden's own political party control of Congress due to exacerbating the pandemic-based inflation so badly! Especially with gas prices.
It's just TOTAL madness and here in USA our news on anything Russia based is COMPLETELY negative and our politicians are always competing to see who can say the most EXTREME and LOONY hateful bigoted anti Russia nonsense.

It should also be noted in any analysis, how the USA and its proxy puppet nations, have created a negative and vilified picture of Russia in its entirety.
The conflict in Ukraine was started and crafted by the USA and NATO, and not by Russia. The end result, including the thousands who've died and millions of displaced civilians, should only be blamed upon those that are fully responsible for this proxy war, and those who continually have promoted this aggression against Russia.

I'm afraid it's only Vjay - Katrina isn't as one-sided as A. Lieven but she's clearly leaning towards the American Way of things, even commenting at last (among several other remarks in her time here) that neither China nor Russia are to be "admired" - see the impassioned language there? what's that supposed to mean? not admired for their lack of freedom of expression, or because they seek a sovereign path for themselves? this choice of words echoes Macron's "humiliated" - how exactly is anyone, for that matter, "humiliating" Russia? they could wipe out all of Europe in like half an hour if they wanted or had to, so I really doubt their Ukrainian strategy has been a "failure." if anything they've been very lenient with US interference not to escalate the war to really dangerous levels.
I'd like to see her or Lieven debate with someone like R. Medhurst or Pepe Escobar.

From the Cuba experience, USA enacted the Monroe Document essentially stopping any country near USA from putting foreign weapons close to the USA. But in Ukraine they have done exactly that. Putting foreign weapons (USA/NATO) within striking distance of Russia. Just as Kennedy was prepared to act against Soviets, Russia is prepared to act against Ukraine. Americans don't understand Russia is doing exactly what Kennedy would have done if the Soviets had not rerouted their missiles.

Russia is humiliating west already. Winning economic war already as well as winning militarily. NATO is not credible anymore and USA´s hegemony is over. Or anybody could believe that USA would retaliate , if Russia would send a NUKE against Poland for instance to stop arms deliveries? Would USA risk for the sake of Poland , that Russia would turn USA´s big cities into radioactice glass within two hours? After this war it is clear, NATO is just good for promoting USA´s interests in Europe, not for real war....It is all done, Russia under sanctions, Ukraine on steroids from USA and Europe.. and it is already clear what is going to happen... What USA should have given to Ukraine was just one signature, prior this war- assuring Russia , that NATO(understand USA) would never expand in to Ukraine... That would be the best and cheapest way to keep Russians home. USA´s greed did not let this to happen(even Putin was asking for it last year several times)

It is not clear that the Russian military intervention was illegal. When Russia intervened a large scale attack on the Donbas had just begun. Its artillery preparation has been registered by the OSCE. Article 51 of the UN Charter confers the right of preemptive war in case of an imminent attack. Russia had recognised the two Donez Republics as independent and concluded an assistance treaty with them. Russia could also appeal to the Responsibility to Protect which the Clinton Administration introduced into the UN Charter.
