Me too, and I found this kind of music around 2010. It's truly timeless. I wish more people here in the USA knew about music like this. A lot of people I show it to like it.
@@awesomeferret Someone from the US listening to this kind of music from the 90s, this is really exceptional! As a German and a European, I really appreciate that you like this kind of classic stuff as an American and it's even making me a bit proud (or rather lucky enough) to have witnessed this era as a teenager. By the way, this was almost 30 years ago now...how time flies. And what beautiful times compared to nowadays. No one feared to appear awkward (or 'cringe', as today's kids say here) or to get evaluated by other persons, no smartphones (not even cellphones), no Instagram, no Twitter (X), just pure energy released on the floors together in full peace and presence. This is what life should be all about if you ask me. From my point of view, today's society, at least in the Western world, has become extremely sick within the last 10 or 15 years. I'm in my early 40s now and even if I'm suffering from some kind of 'midlife crisis' and plenty of other mental health issues, I really wouldn't want to be very young again nowadays... P.S. As you might know, she also played a track from US musician and DJ Josh Wink in this set. The famous 'Original Tweakin Acid Funk Edit' of 'Higher State of Consciousness', of course, which is still an absolute timeless classic.
@@ici_marmotte I sometimes dream of living perpetually in the 90s since there were a lot of things that are better, but our conversation on UA-cam here is a great example of why right now is actually one of the coolest times to be alive. I keep finding "new" music from the 90s on UA-cam, and it's all free. Simply put, I probably wouldn't be into this kind of music in the way that I am now if I had been alive at the relevant time, because I wouldn't have been able to afford to listen to most of the songs that I have. Thousands of songs for free on UA-cam, vs only a few hundred? I understand that the rave scene is special to a lot of people, but I don't have nostalgia of that, because I wasn't even alive at the time. I just enjoy listening to this kind of music, and I've been building overkill surround sound systems for since I was like 10 years old (I've never lived in a place where I can't blast loud music at most times of the day). It's just so cool being able to "live in the 90s" for such a dramatically lower cost. I love the 90s, but life is better than it's ever been, even with the downturn of sanity in western countries. I'm only in my rate 20s, and I feel the same way that you do about society, with the major exception being that I'm very grateful to be a young adult in the 2020s and not the 90s. The 90s were a great time, but there's a lot of cool technology today that I'm very grateful to be a part of. Actually, I suspect that I disagree with you about smartphones. I'm grateful to be alive in a time where such powerful and pocketable computing tools exist. Ewaste is still magical technology (it's cool living in a world where you can literally go to the dump to get a computer that you can actually get work done on). I'll be honest, it saddens me when people take technology to granted to such a degree that they become annoyed by it's presence. Granted, that's your freedom, and I'm sure you have some very specific reasons for being "anti smartphone".

'Deep' was one of my favourite tracks as a teenager. :) In Germany, there were many people making fun of her, accusing her to destroy the rave scene. But I respect her for what she has done because she was one if my idols as a 13-year-old boy in the mid-90s.
@hitman3802 As far as I remember, there were plenty of people in the smaller clubs and those who were part of the techno scene's roots who did not take her serious anymore after she released chart hits such as 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' (which sounded a bit childish) and therefore accusing her to have turned the techno and rave scene into a pure business. But from my point of view, I don't think this was her only intention after she left the 'underground' techno scene, her legendary radio show at former Eastern German station DT64 in the beginning of the 90s and became more successful. Without acts and DJs like her or Westbam, the techno and rave scene probably wouldn't have grown like this and events such as the Mayday in Dortmund or the Love Parade in Berlin would have been much smaller. Having been a teenager myself in the 90s, I don't blame her for anything at all because she is part of my memories of that time. That's all I can tell about this so far, have a nice weekend!
