Feel like Ive gotten to know you a bit and my mind has changed. I am now a big fan! Thanks Gabriel for taking time out of your day to educate simpletons like myself!

I believe Anthony Joshua, Andre Ward and Gabriel Varga are the three most genuine people in fighting. And Gabriel is the most humble of them all for having as many titles he does. And. He and Rachel are total class act

I found also that a tennis ball and a wall can vastly improve coordination and timing. Saw beterbiev in some pre-fight video bouncing a tennis ball in crazy ways and was wondering wtf he was doing. That was the day I stumbled upon tennis ball fu. Catching the ball with your hand right by your face teaches you to auto catch jabs at real speed. (I was catching jabs in my first sparring session with out even realizing it and was surprised when I watched it back). Also focusing on a perfect throw teaches you how to deliver precise strikes, how to reload your guard, how to properly shift your bodyweight. Also if you can keep a rhythm while throwing the ball against the wall, you will learn how to unlock your bodies natural flow state. DONT SLEEP ON THE TENNIS BALL.

  • @illumitabris

    Awesome vid.
Something I do a lot when I train is consider my how much "burst" I have internally. Attacking using a bit more gas than defending, but defending also uses some gas. Your punches have a different gas tank than your movement or your kick, but it's all connected. When you add MMA, you add even more layers to this too.
I'm always thinking when I spar or train, but I try to keep the thought extremely simple and streamlined, without emotion. Basic level thoughts and bird eye view thoughts. I think about keeping up activity and movement constantly, trying to avoid being flatfooted because a moving target is always harder to hit. If I'm thinking jab, I'll jab, but sometimes I'll think jab and start the "animation" for it and then think "no kick" and switchup. Tricking myself to trick my opponents. Aka fakes.

I like using a sort of karate stance similar to what Henry Cejudo uses a lot. You use one of your hands to measure distance and also sometimes to blind or distract. You have to be very careful with doing it though of course. This may be heavily dependent on your overall body shape and limb length though, it feels really natural for me.

    I have a doubt
    Is cardio more important
I am a amateur level kickboxer but i am so lean skinny like when you were in your 20s ( came to know abt that bcoz of your old fight footage ) I have technique
And pretty decent speed should I do more cardio
If i do that will i become more lean and not powerful

    • @AxaFin

focus on self-improvement. Filming yourself on the bag helps a ton, for example roundhouse kicks do 20,15,10 fast kicks both sides and then 5,4,3,2,1 really hard kicks and analyze your own footage and be self-aware in your movements. Training alone requires a lot more thinking than just going to a gym and doing stuff to get sweaty.

Gabriel's content helps me a lot. Since this episode is about timing I'd just like to make note of the timing of the advertisement: that was too long. Trimming hair does seem > 1/8th as important as develop timing in combat sports to me. Did I miss a marker or timestamp that would've helped me skip the ad?
