My theory is that many of the kits are leftovers or rejects from other packs or ideas that didn’t pan out. Country Kitchen is obviously rejects/excess objects from Cottage Living for example. So I predict there may be an industrial type pack coming, and that “other” window would have been in it, and they used it by mistake! That might be where the build objects are too.
i think they should get ACTUAL players to test before releasing anything, kinda like with expansion packs, because it's very obvious in live streams and stuff that the sims team don't even actually play the game
It’s honestly very surprising that they haven’t use Game Changers to test drive packs before release. The mistakes they made are usually the one Game Changers will no doubt notice right away. Really poor project management.
It’s like with fifa they sometimes release it to certain trusted players who then play it and give feedback on what they think needs changing etc (I think that’s what they do😂🤔 my brother got to play fifa -insert number here lol- early). Anyway they should pick select players to give the packs to early, some from console and some from pc and Mac so they can get proper feedback from ppl who actually play the game

Deli, this is my absolute favourite review you've ever done. Your critiques are so balanced and fair and coming from a place of wanting the game to be the best it can be. Excellent points about the uniformity of swatches and colour matching issues. Also the scaling issues with the windows too if a long running problem
@@AutisticKittyStar Deli says not quite. They're slightly off in tone. But this is a huge problem for items in the game. Most colours tagged the same don't have the matching hue. Lilsimsie says it too. Black is not necessarily the same black on another item. I was talking about the game in general and colour matching different assets. I should have been clearer in that. Can someone explain what she means by the swatches being too similar? Every pack people complain that the swatches don't match, but they finally make a whole set that does match and people say it's too matchy? I must be misunderstanding 😅
@@celiadenman1711 From what I can see here is some stuff matches too much for Deli's taste and some stuff that we've had for years labelled the same colour doesn't match. A lot of earlier blacks are really charcoal. They are not quite black in the sense of what later packs call black. Base game black is for example ashy but Moschino Pack black is a true black. Grim Cookies actually does a great pack called Monstera which might stand in for the window problem until the new one is released.
I do love the build/buy category, but i cant say im not dissapointed with ONE window. (I know the other window will be released, but still...) Some new brick wallpapers would have been perfect for this kit!
For costing 5€, I definitely expected it to have at LEAST one new wallpaper one new floor type. The bare minimum imo, but ideally it would have two of each for variety. I couldn't agree more about the window situation, and I especially agree with everything Deligracy mentioned - one window that doesn't even scale to wall height and the lack of matching/companion windows for the doors was a big no no.
I'm absolutely in love with the way you delivered your constructive criticism. I've seen so many simmers rip things to pieces, laying it on thick just for the views. This really does feel like it's coming from a place of love for the game. I appreciate that.
Ya and mostly there gimmie gimmies. They dont really care they just want everything for free and even if they get ot for free they still complain really aggressively.
@Booper Dooper but if it’s EA created, included in a base game update, they still rip into it. I actually stopped watching most of the channels on The Sims because their reviews bordered on whining and bashing the game that their channel is really centered on. I’m not saying they aren’t allowed to criticize EA, but most of their reviews are mostly what EA has done wrong. There are a lot of players who don’t use CC (and console players can’t use CC). I agree EA really dropped the ball with this kit, but Deli gave a well balanced review.
@Booper Dooper they have praise bc its free and its not sims4. There the same people who scream "give us cats&dogs" and when announced they complained even though its what they wanted. Than the screamed release it ealry. Which they did but it had bugs bc they released it ealier. So they complained about that right after the instantly wanted university and when it came out they complained. They also complained the whole time saying everything should be free. Gimmie Gimmies are toxic sim players who dont actually care about the sims. They havnt even played sims 1-3 they ONLY care about getting what they want right this instant for free. There also the ones that complain that cc should be 100% free and that they shouldnt have to be a patrons to get it stuff.
@Booper Dooper I agree that people have the right to express their opinions however they want. I also have the right not to watch those channels because when I do I always think “if you hate the game that much why are you still playing AND bringing attention to the company AND using it to make money when there are so many other games out there”… it’s not that their reviews are so negative but it’s the fact that their negative reviews come across as bitterness and a hatred for the game. Though I’m sure a lot of them want EA to do better because they do enjoy the game overall. When EA releases something that a lot of the players wanted, they still can’t get it right - according to some who then only seem to emphasize what EA didn’t do or should’ve done. EA/Maxis could work with CC creators on these kits, raise the price, and people would complain about them raising the price (which is standard practice for most collaborations).
Yes to this request list! I get that it's a kit but it you are going to include windows and doors, you need a variety of sizes for them to be useful in a build. I end up using the Discover University windows so often just because of the variety of shapes and sizes that still match.
Why don't these items add to the industrial footprint? I was hoping this would work well towards polution. A missed chance for EA to make players happy.
Honestly I hate that all the items I gravitate towards make the world gross. I'm glad that my Sim can sustainably attain some pretty things for their place. I imagine that the items have been gently used so the footprint is reduced.
@@AmandaOliveira-ec6yf This is why The Sims is pretty boring. Everything is good, fine, perfect without doing anything. I know some people prefer that kind of games, but there's a cheat or setting for that. I'm just gonna say it again here, challenge in The Sims is extremely small compared to Stardew Valley. You get all clothing since starting new save file, there's not much you can do when your sims is wealthy (you can't buy expensive car, invest on community lots, etc) player are not rewarded by being hard-working and wealthy because all things is accessible, most lots is unreasonable cheap even when it's on The Pinnacles neighborhood that supposed to cost fortune, cooking doesn't require any ingredients and food magically appear inside fridge, and still many more.
Maybe they didn't for ppl who don't own eco living pack to be able to use the objects as well? Not sure if they couldn't or just didn't have time... Or if they ever have made objects with the footprint on it. An also had those objects with the footprint not on it for ppl who don't have that pack... Ppl don't always think that not everyone has these packs but would still like to buy things that don't have to have other packs to play
@@dannik1298 that's why people say TS4 packs should be cross-pack compatibility. When Eco Lifestyle installed, it should affect base game and other packs object. Developer actually can make fireplace produce pollution while people who don't own Eco Lifestyle still able to use it without Eco Footprint system. What Firise mean is, when Eco Lifestyle is installed, the objects from that kit should automatically produce pollution. It didn't mean that people need to install Eco Lifestyle in order to play Industrial Loft.
I appreciate the honesty of the game changers with this one! There shouldn't be this amount of oversights this far in. After James' video I won't be purchasing it anyway unless they update it well but this definitely solidified that decision
They should pick trusted players to play test the packs so they can get proper feedback from actual players before releasing it with a bunch of flaws. -they could then give that pack to the players who reviewed it for free and this would act as an incentive to not leak anything + be more active in the Sims community. It would make ppl more excited for packs and would up the quality of dlc released by the sims team
this kit is the first that felt **designed entirely** for my build style, but you've absolutely nailed the reasons why it's a bit of a letdown -- it's not "bad," since some of these items really are beautiful and can work well for industrial-loft, modern/contemporary, and other aesthetics.........but some choices are just baffling. you mockups from 7:00 are EXACTLY right!!! here's hoping they work with this feedback and others' in updates/patches, as they've suggested.
Could we use a sliding barn style door? Yes, but why wasn't it in cottage living? Are the vents useful? Yes, but did they need to be three separate items? The window isn't different enough from the mission style windows which do come in a few sizes and styles and for the love of all the is good in the world, please make the window and door frames line up with each other.
I can definitely agree with this, thank you for the honesty Deli. Kits, with the exception of bust the dust, are completely useless. A lot of the stuff we already have in game.
Yea I think the price should be lower, considering what we actually get in the kits. Just thinkin that those kits cost something like 8 Australian dollars. I think it way too much for what players actually get... In some countries prices of those kits are just ridiculous.

I agree the windows in Moschino is way more Lofty this new window is very colonial it's still nice and the doors are cool and nice but Moschino pack had some great windows and a nice sliding door That'd be cool if we got a new free city similar to San Myshino

I’m surprised (well actually, not really) that for an industrial loft pack, we didn’t get a new brick wallpaper.. totally missed opportunity. But, the wooden door is going right on my Cottage Living barns

I agree with everything on your list of things to make the kit better. If they had already done those things, the kit would have been so good. I’m also pretty sure it is not the gurus fault packs seems incomplete but because of EA making them run faster and not giving them the right amount of time to make the packs, just like you said. Also, thank you for showing the twitter post about the “missing” window that matches the Moschino ones. I had not seen or heard of that before your video. I hope the “missing” window they are adding in the update patch do indeed match the Moschino ones (so we can use that to make taller height windows)!
they give themselves more work by rushing and releasing unfinished, undefined packs because people end up complaining (with every right to) and then they have to go back and fix things
This kit isn’t complete its just random items that weren’t well thought out put together with the only common denominator being “industrial.” I do like that some items are similar but at the same time they’re not cohesive. I said it in James’ video too: like kits to be full sets of either build buy or cas assets not mix matched. We really need more love for items in build mode that can work on the tall wall height its so neglected.
We already knew Johnny Zest had been disowned by the Landgrabs, but very cool that they included some lore about how he came to have any posessions. In my mind he had a great-uncle that gave him the trailer to live in, because he had a heart!

I hate the machy machy vibe. Especially for a Brooklyn loft, I imagine there being more eclectic pieces. Like someone colected them over time. Everything from the same set looks bad irl and in sims in my opinion.
You can choose to have varying swatches in your build then, but the option to match items should exist for those players who want that look. Realistically industrial lofts are hella expensive and I can definitely see a designer coming in and using the same reclaimed wood of the butcher block countertops to design their client a table.

I think everybody (including the sims team) is confused about what is really supposed to go in a kit. I think this would be a good stuff pack if they add an additional set of industrial buy items and expand on build items to cover all the bases. Trying to cover an entire aesthetic, with all the build items and buy items for every room makes the kit pretty lacking.
Id like a kit focusing on shelf clutter so if you do an open shelf kitchen you can pit bowels and plates, can goods and fill in your kitchen. I'd like hanging cups you can put under cabinets like stove vent. New bathroom clutter would be good too. I don't do shelving too often because it looks sparse and using move objects leaves weirdly floating objects when walls are down
My thoughts. Kits are mostly leftover items from packs. Country kitchen was the kitchen pieces not chosen for cottage living. The industrial loft is leftovers from eco living. Vacuums, parenthood etc etc. Brilliant way to squeeze every cent from production costs. I k ow people are disappointed it is just 5 bucks and we don't have to buy them.
@@mrdr0161 a number of reasons. They weren't ready at launch, or a decision was made to cut them from the pack. I am not saying I know anything for certain of course but that makes sense to me.
I love this kit, but I do agree that the window and doors needs work. I do like that the items match though. My favorite kitchen counter never had anything that really worked with it, but now I have furniture to go with that kitchen. And I had not noticed the energy level for the bed. That so totally needs fixing too! I built an old railway station and converted it to a loft yesterday. I love love love how it turned out with this kit.
The large Barn Door and ceiling fan are two of the items I'm most excited about (aside from the couch and chair). Why the hate for a new style of ceiling fan? Your ideas for what could/should have been done to the doors and windows is spot on. But I would add that I would have liked to see a barn door that was open too. I hope the style categories will be revamped to actually be correct. Every item needs to be gone over, so that we can actually sort by build style.

XD. no but seriously, I feel like they released an industrial themed build kit because you and james have been very outspoken about liking that aesthetic. and since you guys are pretty popular influencers, my theory is that they put out this "safe" pack knowing full well that it would be at least well received by you two. therefore, you would use the items more often and the kit would be "promoted" more, as opposed to say the oasis courtyard kit. just my theory
I definitely got that impression when I first heard about this pack too. It's nice to see though that both Deli and James have been so honestly outspoken with their critiques.
I'm honestly thrilled with this release so far. I'm giving it to myself as a reward for a hard weeks work. I agree with your critiques though and I think they might patch in some of those things because the energy thing especially just seems to be a mistake rather than an actual rating. Thanks for being someone I go to for content reviews because you make great points and really take the time to build things, play with them, etc so we can see all the good and bad.

You’re the only one who has mentioned the new style sort. That is probably the only reason I’d buy the kit. The industrial sort is something I’ve been wanting for a while.
This was a way better format to show all the new bb. Most UA-camrs have a wall and empty lot then explain what they see, which we can all see because we’re seeing the same thing. But having it like this with a floor plan makes it so much better
I completely agree with all of your points. The kit feels a bit flat and empty so if you just get the extra windows and door it would be so much more useful. And it oughtn't take that much effort since the model for them is already there in the other pieces.

I do agree with James though too you both have great points & like James said it would be great for CC creators to be able to work with them!!! I thought I would hate this pack..... but really do like it for the most part but I do love industrial -- I'd love to live in an Industrial apt or home -- The items are great really just not the windows and that basically an archway that has no door and the one that is a door I think that does not match is nice it just doesn't flow together!!!! Unlike other simmers who just bust the kit for views to agree with everyone else, but not actually saying exactly what was lacking. I agree 1000% with you. You're created pack idea is so much better. I was very disappointed with the pack of windows and doors. When I think loft I think lots of windows.
i dont know if i necessarily agree with your critique about variety tbh. bigger packs will have furniture with 2 or three themes because they're bigger-- i think a kit having 1 theme makes sense. it's opt-in, you know? if you're building a loft, you're not going to have *just* this to build with if you really want variety. you're going to have base game at the very least. i think, (dont a little better, albeit), kits can be a great way of just dropping 5$ to get a set of new pieces. i like to think about it as like...an irl set. an ikea for example will have a set of items that all match and are marketed together. you can mix and match if you buy other sets, but those things are marketed together and they are going to be all samey, because they're part of the same set. like i said, i'd agree with you if this was a stuff pack-- with that, it's nice when they have 2 or 3 themes, because then if a player doesn't like one of the themes, they can still get the pack and enjoy the gameplay aspect and have other options. but this is a 5$ kit. i don't think it's fair to put them on the same level just my two cents though~! love u n ur channel

I agree with your ideas of what should've been added to the kit, however I, as a player and builder, actually like the fact that the furniture matches for once. Because I don't like to mix different styles when I build and I get really frustrtated when the swatches don't match.
I'm sure the sim that uses that piano will appreciate the fan going on which causes their sheet music on the piano to fly around the entire loft - would be fun to watch! ;)
My issue isn't with the design of the items, aesthetically it's completely my wheelhouse - I love the metal and woods industrial vibe. My issue is with the amount of items they're finding acceptable for these "Kits"... I agree 100% with everything in the mockup you did, it's perfect!! (Very well done.) I would only add to that list a single bed version of the poster bed (although it'd be nice if they started remembering kids and toddlers for some of these styled packs too, lol). The large sliding door that seems a bit out of place is pretty on point for many industrial loft spaces, especially if it's a converted warehouse, sometimes as an apartment door but in my experience I've seen them more as a ground floor main or secondary entrance to the building - I'm sure that can't just be a Chicago thing, lol. (Checkout the apartment door in Big Daddy with Adam Sandler.) - Tbh, that door, the ceiling pipes and the textures on the sofa/chair are the things that will probably make me one day break and buy the dang pack. >.< I so hope your message is heard and received, it's certainly a very valid and constructive one. I really wonder who's reviewing this work, and how it gets through the door and to the public. As a technical artist myself, it pains me to see the inconsistencies and lack of cohesiveness throughout the swatches, models, and even the texture sizes/patterns.

Really though I used to avoid CC content because it doesn't usually match super well with the existing game. Now I'm realizing how inconsistent the game itself is from pack to pack. I wish they would create a good color palette and stick to it. The pampas grass just irritates me. I like the vase and how it looks more fluffed out...but where is the texture in the grass itself? They demonstrated that they can do a better texture than that just a couple months ago or so.
@@JRenee141 Yeah it's really easy to set up a material library that would make things more consistent, and then there could still be oddball materials made specifically for each item to spice things up, or if there's a theme like Courtyard Oasis. I realize that it's a game that's been worked on for over 8 years now, but they could also be updating older assets here-and-there, and new content shouldn't be this off.
I feel the same and totally agree with you!! Esp on the windows, and had the same reaction on the bed energy 1 bit, esp with how nice it looks lol. My heart goes out to the creative team making all the stuff have really nice quality, but bummed about the limitations and direction of the kit. This pack...ahem 'kit' has a lot of potential to go in its variety but the objects seemed tied down despite the objects holding really nice quality on its own. Love your work Deligracy :]
I love your build! Making the most of a limited kit. The arched window doesn’t read industrial to me. And the furniture looks like the already existing mission furniture with metal added on to look “industrial” :(
When this pack was announced, I assumed I’d buy it and love it since I’m primarily a builder, but now that I’ve seen just how little comes in it and how similar it is to stuff we already have, I’m not sure I will… so far I’m only 2/5 on these kits. I do love that sliding door, and feel like if I bought the pack it would make a great barn or garage door aesthetically. Not buying the whole pack for one door though.
I totally agree with you, the pack did seem a bit rushed. I wonder if maybe they felt like they were being rushed because, it seems like recently every month there is a new pack of some sort. They probably need to calm down a notch and focus on the quality rather than speeding to get another pack out.

Omg I think you might be the reason a building up the block from me had to evacuate the other night. Everyone was waiting outside the supermarket and the cop shop for ages, in the cold mostly just wearing their jammies, while heaps of fire trucks were parked out front. I could hear the alarm system go off in the background while I was doing chores around the house and then I saw everyone lined up outside while I was in an Uber.
its a $5 dlc and people seems to expect a lot for some reason. im gonna get it because i like more options even though my buildings almost always become shoeboxes XD.
The fact that they still release one-height-windows and doors feels like such a slap in the plumbob. Imagine these new doors and window but in different heights... It'd basically be universally praised because they'd take the base game feature that's been here from the start (the height of walls) into account when creating a god damn kit that only has BB content.
Love your build! I am buying this pack for sure as it fits my build style, I didn't get the Moroccan one cause it doesn't fit my style, simple as that.

Can someone explain what she means by the swatches being too similar? Every pack people complain that the swatches don't match, but they finally make a whole set that does match and people say it's too matchy? I must be misunderstanding 😅
@@celiadenman1711 From what I can see here is some stuff matches too much for Deli's taste and some stuff that we've had for years labelled the same colour doesn't match. A lot of earlier blacks are really charcoal. They are not quite black in the sense of what later packs call black. Base game black is for example ashy but Moschino Pack black is a true black.
Grim Cookies actually does a great pack called Monstera which might stand in for the window problem until the new one is released.
I do love the build/buy category, but i cant say im not dissapointed with ONE window. (I know the other window will be released, but still...) Some new brick wallpapers would have been perfect for this kit!
For costing 5€, I definitely expected it to have at LEAST one new wallpaper one new floor type. The bare minimum imo, but ideally it would have two of each for variety. I couldn't agree more about the window situation, and I especially agree with everything Deligracy mentioned - one window that doesn't even scale to wall height and the lack of matching/companion windows for the doors was a big no no.
Also they said "windows" in the promo. Great with the false advertising lol

@Booper Dooper but if it’s EA created, included in a base game update, they still rip into it. I actually stopped watching most of the channels on The Sims because their reviews bordered on whining and bashing the game that their channel is really centered on. I’m not saying they aren’t allowed to criticize EA, but most of their reviews are mostly what EA has done wrong. There are a lot of players who don’t use CC (and console players can’t use CC). I agree EA really dropped the ball with this kit, but Deli gave a well balanced review.
@Booper Dooper they have praise bc its free and its not sims4. There the same people who scream "give us cats&dogs" and when announced they complained even though its what they wanted. Than the screamed release it ealry. Which they did but it had bugs bc they released it ealier. So they complained about that right after the instantly wanted university and when it came out they complained. They also complained the whole time saying everything should be free. Gimmie Gimmies are toxic sim players who dont actually care about the sims. They havnt even played sims 1-3 they ONLY care about getting what they want right this instant for free. There also the ones that complain that cc should be 100% free and that they shouldnt have to be a patrons to get it stuff.
@Booper Dooper I agree that people have the right to express their opinions however they want. I also have the right not to watch those channels because when I do I always think “if you hate the game that much why are you still playing AND bringing attention to the company AND using it to make money when there are so many other games out there”… it’s not that their reviews are so negative but it’s the fact that their negative reviews come across as bitterness and a hatred for the game. Though I’m sure a lot of them want EA to do better because they do enjoy the game overall.
When EA releases something that a lot of the players wanted, they still can’t get it right - according to some who then only seem to emphasize what EA didn’t do or should’ve done. EA/Maxis could work with CC creators on these kits, raise the price, and people would complain about them raising the price (which is standard practice for most collaborations).
Yes to this request list! I get that it's a kit but it you are going to include windows and doors, you need a variety of sizes for them to be useful in a build. I end up using the Discover University windows so often just because of the variety of shapes and sizes that still match.
Why don't these items add to the industrial footprint? I was hoping this would work well towards polution.

Honestly I hate that all the items I gravitate towards make the world gross. I'm glad that my Sim can sustainably attain some pretty things for their place. I imagine that the items have been gently used so the footprint is reduced.

I know some people prefer that kind of games, but there's a cheat or setting for that. I'm just gonna say it again here, challenge in The Sims is extremely small compared to Stardew Valley. You get all clothing since starting new save file, there's not much you can do when your sims is wealthy (you can't buy expensive car, invest on community lots, etc) player are not rewarded by being hard-working and wealthy because all things is accessible, most lots is unreasonable cheap even when it's on The Pinnacles neighborhood that supposed to cost fortune, cooking doesn't require any ingredients and food magically appear inside fridge, and still many more.
Maybe they didn't for ppl who don't own eco living pack to be able to use the objects as well? Not sure if they couldn't or just didn't have time... Or if they ever have made objects with the footprint on it. An also had those objects with the footprint not on it for ppl who don't have that pack... Ppl don't always think that not everyone has these packs but would still like to buy things that don't have to have other packs to play
@@dannik1298 that's why people say TS4 packs should be cross-pack compatibility. When Eco Lifestyle installed, it should affect base game and other packs object. Developer actually can make fireplace produce pollution while people who don't own Eco Lifestyle still able to use it without Eco Footprint system.
What Firise mean is, when Eco Lifestyle is installed, the objects from that kit should automatically produce pollution. It didn't mean that people need to install Eco Lifestyle in order to play Industrial Loft.

They should pick trusted players to play test the packs so they can get proper feedback from actual players before releasing it with a bunch of flaws.

this kit is the first that felt **designed entirely** for my build style, but you've absolutely nailed the reasons why it's a bit of a letdown -- it's not "bad," since some of these items really are beautiful and can work well for industrial-loft, modern/contemporary, and other aesthetics.........but some choices are just baffling.
you mockups from 7:00 are EXACTLY right!!! here's hoping they work with this feedback and others' in updates/patches, as they've suggested.
Could we use a sliding barn style door? Yes, but why wasn't it in cottage living? Are the vents useful? Yes, but did they need to be three separate items? The window isn't different enough from the mission style windows which do come in a few sizes and styles and for the love of all the is good in the world, please make the window and door frames line up with each other.
The vents should work like the counters, so it's one item but you can really build something with it

Yea I think the price should be lower, considering what we actually get in the kits. Just thinkin that those kits cost something like 8 Australian dollars. I think it way too much for what players actually get... In some countries prices of those kits are just ridiculous.

I agree with everything on your list of things to make the kit better. If they had already done those things, the kit would have been so good. I’m also pretty sure it is not the gurus fault packs seems incomplete but because of EA making them run faster and not giving them the right amount of time to make the packs, just like you said. Also, thank you for showing the twitter post about the “missing” window that matches the Moschino ones. I had not seen or heard of that before your video. I hope the “missing” window they are adding in the update patch do indeed match the Moschino ones (so we can use that to make taller height windows)!

This kit isn’t complete its just random items that weren’t well thought out put together with the only common denominator being “industrial.” I do like that some items are similar but at the same time they’re not cohesive. I said it in James’ video too: like kits to be full sets of either build buy or cas assets not mix matched. We really need more love for items in build mode that can work on the tall wall height its so neglected.

The sliding door seems like a leftover asset from cottage living.
We already knew Johnny Zest had been disowned by the Landgrabs, but very cool that they included some lore about how he came to have any posessions. In my mind he had a great-uncle that gave him the trailer to live in, because he had a heart!

I hate the machy machy vibe. Especially for a Brooklyn loft, I imagine there being more eclectic pieces. Like someone colected them over time. Everything from the same set looks bad irl and in sims in my opinion.
You can choose to have varying swatches in your build then, but the option to match items should exist for those players who want that look. Realistically industrial lofts are hella expensive and I can definitely see a designer coming in and using the same reclaimed wood of the butcher block countertops to design their client a table.
More honest reviews please, appreciate them heaps! Not many sims youtubers like you :)

I think everybody (including the sims team) is confused about what is really supposed to go in a kit. I think this would be a good stuff pack if they add an additional set of industrial buy items and expand on build items to cover all the bases. Trying to cover an entire aesthetic, with all the build items and buy items for every room makes the kit pretty lacking.
Id like a kit focusing on shelf clutter so if you do an open shelf kitchen you can pit bowels and plates, can goods and fill in your kitchen. I'd like hanging cups you can put under cabinets like stove vent. New bathroom clutter would be good too. I don't do shelving too often because it looks sparse and using move objects leaves weirdly floating objects when walls are down
My thoughts. Kits are mostly leftover items from packs. Country kitchen was the kitchen pieces not chosen for cottage living. The industrial loft is leftovers from eco living. Vacuums, parenthood etc etc. Brilliant way to squeeze every cent from production costs. I k ow people are disappointed it is just 5 bucks and we don't have to buy them.

I love this kit, but I do agree that the window and doors needs work. I do like that the items match though. My favorite kitchen counter never had anything that really worked with it, but now I have furniture to go with that kitchen. And I had not noticed the energy level for the bed. That so totally needs fixing too! I built an old railway station and converted it to a loft yesterday. I love love love how it turned out with this kit.
The large Barn Door and ceiling fan are two of the items I'm most excited about (aside from the couch and chair). Why the hate for a new style of ceiling fan?
Your ideas for what could/should have been done to the doors and windows is spot on. But I would add that I would have liked to see a barn door that was open too.
I hope the style categories will be revamped to actually be correct. Every item needs to be gone over, so that we can actually sort by build style.

XD. no but seriously, I feel like they released an industrial themed build kit because you and james have been very outspoken about liking that aesthetic. and since you guys are pretty popular influencers, my theory is that they put out this "safe" pack knowing full well that it would be at least well received by you two. therefore, you would use the items more often and the kit would be "promoted" more, as opposed to say the oasis courtyard kit. just my theory

I'm honestly thrilled with this release so far. I'm giving it to myself as a reward for a hard weeks work. I agree with your critiques though and I think they might patch in some of those things because the energy thing especially just seems to be a mistake rather than an actual rating. Thanks for being someone I go to for content reviews because you make great points and really take the time to build things, play with them, etc so we can see all the good and bad.

This was a way better format to show all the new bb. Most UA-camrs have a wall and empty lot then explain what they see, which we can all see because we’re seeing the same thing. But having it like this with a floor plan makes it so much better
I completely agree with all of your points. The kit feels a bit flat and empty so if you just get the extra windows and door it would be so much more useful. And it oughtn't take that much effort since the model for them is already there in the other pieces.

i dont know if i necessarily agree with your critique about variety tbh. bigger packs will have furniture with 2 or three themes because they're bigger-- i think a kit having 1 theme makes sense. it's opt-in, you know? if you're building a loft, you're not going to have *just* this to build with if you really want variety. you're going to have base game at the very least. i think, (dont a little better, albeit), kits can be a great way of just dropping 5$ to get a set of new pieces.
i like to think about it as like...an irl set. an ikea for example will have a set of items that all match and are marketed together. you can mix and match if you buy other sets, but those things are marketed together and they are going to be all samey, because they're part of the same set.
like i said, i'd agree with you if this was a stuff pack-- with that, it's nice when they have 2 or 3 themes, because then if a player doesn't like one of the themes, they can still get the pack and enjoy the gameplay aspect and have other options. but this is a 5$ kit. i don't think it's fair to put them on the same level

I agree with your ideas of what should've been added to the kit, however I, as a player and builder, actually like the fact that the furniture matches for once. Because I don't like to mix different styles when I build and I get really frustrtated when the swatches don't match.
I'm sure the sim that uses that piano will appreciate the fan going on which causes their sheet music on the piano to fly around the entire loft - would be fun to watch! ;)
My issue isn't with the design of the items, aesthetically it's completely my wheelhouse - I love the metal and woods industrial vibe. My issue is with the amount of items they're finding acceptable for these "Kits"... I agree 100% with everything in the mockup you did, it's perfect!! (Very well done.) I would only add to that list a single bed version of the poster bed (although it'd be nice if they started remembering kids and toddlers for some of these styled packs too, lol).
The large sliding door that seems a bit out of place is pretty on point for many industrial loft spaces, especially if it's a converted warehouse, sometimes as an apartment door but in my experience I've seen them more as a ground floor main or secondary entrance to the building - I'm sure that can't just be a Chicago thing, lol. (Checkout the apartment door in Big Daddy with Adam Sandler.) - Tbh, that door, the ceiling pipes and the textures on the sofa/chair are the things that will probably make me one day break and buy the dang pack. >.<

I really wonder who's reviewing this work, and how it gets through the door and to the public. As a technical artist myself, it pains me to see the inconsistencies and lack of cohesiveness throughout the swatches, models, and even the texture sizes/patterns.

Really though I used to avoid CC content because it doesn't usually match super well with the existing game. Now I'm realizing how inconsistent the game itself is from pack to pack. I wish they would create a good color palette and stick to it. The pampas grass just irritates me. I like the vase and how it looks more fluffed out...but where is the texture in the grass itself? They demonstrated that they can do a better texture than that just a couple months ago or so.
@@JRenee141 Yeah it's really easy to set up a material library that would make things more consistent, and then there could still be oddball materials made specifically for each item to spice things up, or if there's a theme like Courtyard Oasis. I realize that it's a game that's been worked on for over 8 years now, but they could also be updating older assets here-and-there, and new content shouldn't be this off.

I love your build! Making the most of a limited kit. The arched window doesn’t read industrial to me. And the furniture looks like the already existing mission furniture with metal added on to look “industrial” :(
When this pack was announced, I assumed I’d buy it and love it since I’m primarily a builder, but now that I’ve seen just how little comes in it and how similar it is to stuff we already have, I’m not sure I will… so far I’m only 2/5 on these kits. I do love that sliding door, and feel like if I bought the pack it would make a great barn or garage door aesthetically. Not buying the whole pack for one door though.
I totally agree with you, the pack did seem a bit rushed. I wonder if maybe they felt like they were being rushed because, it seems like recently every month there is a new pack of some sort. They probably need to calm down a notch and focus on the quality rather than speeding to get another pack out.

Omg I think you might be the reason a building up the block from me had to evacuate the other night. Everyone was waiting outside the supermarket and the cop shop for ages, in the cold mostly just wearing their jammies, while heaps of fire trucks were parked out front.

The fact that they still release one-height-windows and doors feels like such a slap in the plumbob.
Imagine these new doors and window but in different heights... It'd basically be universally praised because they'd take the base game feature that's been here from the start (the height of walls) into account when creating a god damn kit that only has BB content.

Lilsimsie tested the bed and energy goes up like other comparable beds, around a 5 energy. She thought it was probably mislabeled because of the play test.
