  • KYABAZINGA LEADS SUBJECTS AT KAGULU CLIMBING CHALLENGE 2023
    Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV on August 26th led his subjects in climbing the 3600ft Kagulu rock.
    The Kyabazinga who was chief climber of the Kagulu Rock Climbing challenge led his subjects in the adventurous rock climbing. This was the third time for the Kyabazinga to climb the rock.
    He was joined by thousands of his subjects, Politicians, the Minister of State for Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities Martin Mugarra Bahinduka, The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Uganda Muhammad Hassan Wazir, the Ambassador of Turkey in Uganda Mehmet Fatih, The Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Gender Aggrey Kibenge, Members of Parliament who hail from Busoga, local and international tourists to climb the hill.
    The First deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East Africa community Affairs Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga Kadaga arrived at the venue at about 9:30am and was welcomed by Busoga Kingdom’s Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala and Busoga Kingdom’s Minister of Tourism, Hellen Namutamba.
    Kadaga set off young boys, girls and juveniles who competed in climbing the rock.
    Later the Kyabazinga also arrived at about midday and was welcomed by Dr. Muvawala and Buyende district woman MP Nakato Mary.
    He walked majestically towards the climbing concrete steps on the rock as he waved to his subjects while others followed closely from behind to flank him during the rock-climbing challenge.
    After reaching the peak, the Kyabazinga visited the cave and small lake which were used by Prince Mukama Namutukula and wife Naudo, said to be the first Basoga to settle at Kagulu rock.
    He also launched Prince Mukama Namutukula’s sculpture that was built by the central government at the top of Kagulu rock.
    During speeches at the bottom of Kagulu rock, Miss Tourism Busoga was crowned and, in his remarks, the Kyabazinga thanked his subjects for turning up in huge numbers to grace the Kagulu rock climbing event.
    He thanked youth for being creative in the tourism industry and appreciated Kadaga for her efforts in promoting tourism sites in Busoga.
    He reaffirmed that Busoga is a tourism capital for Uganda and his Kingdom will do what it takes to promote tourism.
    In her remarks, Kadaga urged Basoga to promote community tourism, rediscover their culture heritage and values of honesty, hard work and unity.
    Kadaga appreciated President Yoweri Museveni for fulfilling his pledge of making sure that steps are constructed at Kagulu rock to enable tourists to climb the rock with ease.
    She revealed that they have plans of installing a cable car to take tourists up to the top of the hill and requested the Ambassadors to look for investors who will install the cable car.
    The Minister of State for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Martin Mugarra revealed that the central government is going to construct a modern parking space and also construct restrooms for tourists at Kagulu tourism site.
    He urged youths, mostly those who have Tik tok accounts to market all tourist sites in Busoga adding that this will increase the number of tourists in Busoga and also increase revenue.
    Busoga Kingdom Tourism Minister Hellen Namutamba presented Miss Tourism Busoga queens who included Mercy Tenywa, Winnie Kasoga and Latifah Naigaga who were crowned Miss Tourism Busoga, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively.
    Kadaga further crowned Mr. and Mrs Tik tok with highest followers.
    Kadaga also handed over certificates of appreciation to various sponsors who included I&M bank Uganda, YUASA motor company, Uganda Breweries Limited, who participated in sponsoring the Kagulu rock climbing challenge.
    Present was the Isabalangira of Busoga Menha Zirabamuzaale, Bugabula North MP John Teira, Buyende district woman MP Mary Nakato, Budiope East MP Moses Magogo, Busoga Kingdom Ministers led by Busoga Kingdom's Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala and chiefs from various chiefdoms from Busoga. -End-
