Let me correct a few things. You can't get hit trough deterrence, deterrence specifically gives you the ability to parry attacks from any direction. There are specific select spells that go trough it though. Its the unavoidable attacks such as Cheap Shot, Overpower and Chaos Bolt. Second you don't need to switch the tracking type to get the bonus. You get 5% bonus damage to all the types mentioned as long as you are tracking any of them.
I played WoW off and on from 2005-2010, mainly on a hunter. I enjoyed doing MM, BM, and Surv over the course of vanilla, tBC, and WotLK. Although I felt like I lost some RP over the expansions, the QoL and smoothness of play was improved over the two expansions. I had my most comfy PvE experience in Wrath for sure. Good times!
You dont need to swap between tracking types. As long as you have one of your hunter tracks active you automatically gain 5% damage buff to all types of tracking. Unless im specifically looking for something, i usually keep smth like track giants so it wont clutter my minimap
@@TheodorBrb you dont need the correct tracking. Thats the whole point. You just need to have 1 of your tracks active and you have yhe dmg buff for all targets
Survival was great in PvP though. Also, Marksmanship in 3.3.5 was top tier in PvE tbh. Once you get 1k4 Armor Penetration+DW, you're pretty much unstoppable.

Love the vids! I mained a Hunter and WoTLK era was hands down the most fun I ever had playing the game! It’s when I really got into Raiding and the PVP was excellent. So many epic winter grasp battles, at least until they added cross-faction character creation on the same server and the sabotage began lol. I continued through Cata, but never played as seriously again once MoP released. WoTLK was the peak experience IMO!
Hunter was my first love and the first character I played when I first started WoW at the start of Classic in 2019. I loved marksmanship a lot and took it all the way through naxx to basically hitting full bis. Then TBC came and the changes to rotation and dependancy on pets ruined that love for me because it felt clunky to play. Seeing how much hunter is gonna change in Wrath, maybe it will be something to play again, albeit as an alt this time. My first character definitely deserves some love!
As a hunter you can misdirect mobs to your raid members so going afk near a hunter is super risky. One of the biggest reasons to play hunter right there.
Speaking of which, one day my GM and I were messing around in Silvermoon just because, and led her to where Lo themar was. “Hey, watch this” I misdirect all three to her and FD in a corner while I watch them one shot her. I lost out on loot for two weeks but I was rolling with laughter. I love misdirect.
I plan to re-roll on Fresh for Wrath and BM hunter is the class I've always leveled fastest and consistently had most fun with, so big advantage there when there will be limited time to level. Great for grinding / farming / soloing. Will also level a rogue for a gold making duo.
Deterrence info was wrong. It’s a weird ability so it’s understandable. Deterrence won’t allow any magic or melee attacks to hit you EXCEPT melee attacks from stealth and backstab style abilities. Why? Stealth abilities like cheapshot and ambush aren’t coded to be parried so deterrence actually can’t parry those abilities and they will go through the Deterrence to damage the hunter. Same with out of stealth backstabs and shreds. When dueling a hunter, he can press deterrence and a rogue can vanish/Cheapshot the Deterrence and then all damage can hit the hunter because you can’t parry while stunned.
Chaos Bolt & Overpower also go through Deterrence, Chaos Bolt has caught me out so many times on Warmane because it hits like a fucking truck in Wotlk.
I mained hunter for most of my OG WoW career. I've seen a lot of people saying that hunter is boring and "dull" and I just don't get it. I found hunters to be quite dynamic, kiting is fun and hard core raiding though WOTLK are some of my fondest memories through WoW. Will be fun to see how they do through raids again.
Personally, I started in Wrath, hunter was my first character and I loved it. Survival was amazing back in Wrath. I looked at it in bc and I was not as excited.
Regarding the improved tracking talent. I was under the assumption you don't need to track the actual mob type to get the bonus. Just as long as you track any of the types specified in the talents it gives a 5 % damage increase. Am I correct or incorrect? :)
Partially correct. The talent only works with the mentioned tracking types, however, from those it is irrelevant which ones you use,all of them gives the damage increase regardless of the actual mob type.
If you're attacking humanoids but you're tracking beasts, you don't get the damage bonus. But then again, its very easy to weave in a macro to change your tracking type to enemy type, that way if you switch from a humanoid to a beast NPC your track changes automatically.
Thank you lads and ladies for the replies :) I did some research and this is the conclusion that will end this discussion. In patch 3.0.2 the improved tracking talent was added with the formulation: "Increases all damage done to targets that are being tracked 1/2/3/4/5%." This indicates you have to actively track the type you cause damage to in order to get the 5% damage increase. However, in patch 3.0.8 this talent got reworked and the updated formulation stated that: "While tracking Beasts, Demons, Dragonkin, Elementals, Giants, Humanoids and Undead, all ranged damage done to those types is increased by 1/2/3/4/5%." Which indicates you now don't have to change the tracking type in order to get the damage increase. Hope this helps!

Apect of the Beast's melee AP is interesting, since aspect-switching is off the GCD, it might be good for melee weaving. Edit: melee-weave is dead, ranged and melee weapon now share their swingtimer.
As a hunter main since late vanilla and alot of opporunity to stuff round with specs during tbc especially, it would have been far more interesting during tbc. That with the new disengage would have been insanely more fun to play with during tbc.
I have a Hunter alt purely for farming, (Engi/Mining) and she has made pretty much all of my gold. Sadly I was a little bored with her in alt runs as you just press Steady Shot all day. Might get more involved with the class if it's becoming more interesting in Wrath, which it looks like it will. 👍🏻
Tbf u can play it much differently if u can be bothered. Melee weaving and intense rotations depending on attackspeed procs etc. Makes a boring, relatively low dps rotation into a high skill ceiling enjoyable experience.
@@joethompson4811 Indeed. Spamming steady shot mindlessly will do good dps, bm hunter is just that strong in TBC, but you can always decide to do it correctly and get even more dps! Just reiterating ur same point.

Beast master is still the best spec in naxx tier and marksmanship only does better than survival in fights you stand still for burst phases even with armor pen gear. Survival also has the niche of giving replenishment which is important in a multitude of comps. I also wouldn’t sleep on beast mastery as they have a solo player build that can solo a lot of dungeon content. With that being said good video and hope y’all have fun playing hunter
Played bm all through wrath and would always top the dps charts in dungeons and raids up through mop. It all boils down to how you talent your tree, the pet you choose (jormunger + multi shot) insane dps, and play style.
Yeah same. I always topped the dps meters. Saurfang never dropped the fucking trinket for me, before I had to quit because real life stuff. Hope I get that trinket this time around.
"The tier 9 2 piece set is a small dps gain". Uh no. It's over 1000 DPS. Method hunters were using it in ICC. When you are crit capped in ICC at 75 percent that's a lot of damage.
I managed to do decently memeing as a BM hunter in certain ICC fights with lots of stuns taken, where BW could be synced to immunize them. Other than that, though, yeah, it was just SV -> ArP MM.
Hi Willie, hope you are doing well. I just wanted to ask your advice on something. I would like to theory craft some WoTLK builds for Warrior but apart from a talent calculator, I have no means to test the dynamics of the build. I was wondering if it possible to test things in game somehow?
i really enjoy bm hunter its a chill af spec im a casual bg player i dont like pillar humping arena i just gear out as much as i can from bgs and now winter grasp vault sets.
I remember the hunter has glyphs or something that makes heal on the pet double and every half a second I searched for this and couldn't find it I had a hunter from wotlk days and I knew this but I don't know if it's from a wotlk Expansion or from a later Expansion I do not know if it is not available now, but it was added in later patches
Im new to WoW, tried the free trial in retail and loved the hunter, then tried WotLK hunter and I’m really deterred by the ammo requirement. Is that a valid worry or is ammo extremely available to the point where it doesn’t matter?
Ammo is very available, but not a completely inconsequential mechanic. The best ammo is made by engineers and you have to buy it from other players on the auction house or make it yourself, though it is rarely prohibitively expensive. You can buy cheap ammo from npc vendors that does less damage but is borderline free and it's a good idea to use it for world content and heroic dungeons. Overall it's not that big a deal and if you like hunter it shouldn't be a deal breaker. On some level it makes you invested in every shot of your bow.
Was surprised to not see any mention of dungeon farm/raid specs with incorporation traps. Explosive Trap Glyph (The periodic damage from your Explosive Trap can now be critical strikes) + Volly is absolutely nuts. Will top damage meters.
Yesterday I leveled a troll hunter from 1-19. And this is how it went. Little to no down time killing mobs pre 10. Died once on the troll island for grabbing 1 too many mobs. Lvl 10 I chose the gator as a pet, and tried to solo RFC. I killed 5 mobs before it was too hard. Then I went to the cross fields in the barrens and quested till 15, where I met a enh shaman. We duo RFC till the first boss, then we had others player join. My gator tanked the whole dungeon, grabbing 3-6 mobs at a time, and kept agro most of the time. Then after RFC, me and the shaman joined a WC run. Where me and another hunter tanked using gators. Had no issues. Leveled to 17 and chose to get a bear instead, which is the turning point of this story. I quested with the shaman till lvl 19. We grabbed 10-15 mobs with my bear as he healed. The bear kept agro 99 percent of the time, and with mend pet we were basically playing the game on super easy mode. After hitting level 19, we decided to pvp, where I went 35+ kills with no deaths for 10 plus games. Bear was killing players by himself without me realizing it at first. And i am super excited to keep playing.
The one thing i had been really excited to see return for hunter is the pet talent tree i loved this back in the day way more than the point system from vanilla or tbc . I picked up a wolf pet to level for wrath but i didnt know they was the best for raiding until some ppl in lfg channel was talking about it I just remembered the hunter in my raiding group back then had a wolf and he did a lot of damage. The wolfs name was Spike so i named my wolf Spikejr. Also hope i can pick up one of the spirit beasts
that is very true. I played a ton of wrath hunter and for pve especially ToC and ICC 2 hunters are a must in your 25 man, also 1 is a must in 10 man. Off the top of my head for ICC hunters are needed for Marrogar (soaking charges), Saurfang (traps to cc the adds), Princes (keeping orbs from landing) and especially Lich King. Their Dps is very good at start and goes to excellent end game and for PvP skill cap is very high in wrath and a good hunter can 1v1 pretty much anything

As a hunter main since late vanilla and alot of opporunity to stuff round with specs during tbc especially, it would have been far more interesting during tbc. That with the new disengage would have been insanely more fun to play with during tbc.
as a gladiator hunter ,
hell nah man it was such and uphill battle . 3v3 we had difficult time . we did have a 5v5 comp though
I always jump around when I'm waiting for anything, like the boat, for the party members to arrive on a dungeon. Now I can do that in style with Disengaged
Are meta pets still a thing in Wrath? Where if I pick one pet over another I could be losing substantial dps?
survival hunter looks like itll be alot of fun in dungeons
Was the title change back to 'was it any good though' intentional?
My only question is this: Is the patch we will be on going to be the one where you can no longer tame the oily wolf or not?
it's 3.4.0, basically 3.3.5a on new engine, so if something was removed / blocked prior to that patch, it won't be available.
They are the same model as the regular Tundra Wolf, the black oily effect is a debuff that disappears when you tame them.
If you were at one point able to keep them oily after taming, that was probably a bug with the debuff not disappearing.
Just rolled a hunter about an hour ago and now I see this video. Hope it's good news!
It doesen’t matter, play what you like screw these losers making vids on what to play and what not to play.
@@mariuscroitoru4983 Wille is not making a video on what to play or not he's making a video highlighting all the changes. If you look real closely you can see that he's doing it for every class.

WillE, you are very talented at what you do. Keep it up even if you are a terrible influence on me lol
Great editing
Guys, chill, he’ll change the title, lmao.
Does Marked for Death work on your auto attacks (Auto Shot)?
Hey WillE, I think you took the title from Vanilla Classic (Was It Any Good Though?) instead of WotLK one (How Broken Is It Now?), at least that's what I understand from the video.
i watched 25hc bossfights of wotlk and hunters are alot of times in the top 3 in dps, even against legendary weapon warriors, i dont know if you can call that the ''middle of the pack''
did something change? in ICC i was top 3 dps in 90% offf boss fights
...this makes me want to come back. Wanna play Hunter or Lock...
if any of you looking for an in-depth with spreadsheets, rotations, all the good stuff for 3.3.5a end-game MM -> ua-cam.com/video/7WSpw36Yodg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Officialtansei
Did you forget to mention they can tame t-rexes and core hounds finally? I didn't hear you mention it.
How about Thori'dal, the stars Fury. The legendary hutner bow. can you do a video on that and what it would be like in wrath ?
I just got it during prepatch, and well, i'm worried it will be crap in wrath :'(
Survival instincts isnt new, they just changed the +4% attack power part into +4% crit with specific spells and moved the talent upwards a bit.
So it's new
how are you getting such well detailed models for your intro? they look amazing.
Pretty sure Arcturis (spirit bear) wasnt put in the game until Cata
I stand corrected, wowhead has it at version 3.3
Don’t get rid of your swing timer. You need it to melee trap weave
Swing timer is also important for movement and "stutter-stepping". Stopping when your auto is ready as to not miss out on dmg while moving.
Use a towel sweaty soiboy.
I am ready for pre patch.....let's go already sheesh...fresh wrath...I'm waiting.
I started in wotlk with a Hunter as my main and I never not mained one. Finally the utility it is known for later on starts coming back!
Yeah same. I always topped the dps meters. Saurfang never dropped the fucking trinket for me, before I had to quit because real life stuff. Hope I get that trinket this time around.
Hunter main through all of classic shout outs green gang
Wait, wasn't this the "How broken it is" series? OHHHHHH we are at the hunter, nvm...
I love hunters and the idea of BM hunters able to tame exotic beasts but would I really be at a disadvantage if I play casually and wanted to be BM?
I mained a hunter the first time around and ill be doing it again with a hunter of the same name :)
i really enjoy bm hunter its a chill af spec im a casual bg player i dont like pillar humping arena i just gear out as much as i can from bgs and now winter grasp vault sets.
I remember the hunter has glyphs or something that makes heal on the pet double and every half a second
I searched for this and couldn't find it
I had a hunter from wotlk days and I knew this but I don't know if it's from a wotlk Expansion or from a later Expansion
I do not know if it is not available now, but it was added in later patches
where is the footage around 14:40 from?
I raided in wrath as a surv hunter. Black arrow and explosive shot was fun as hell. If I have the time I will be playing hunter again
Explosive trap >>>>> black arrow
I can't wait for the prot warrior video.
Rolls intro, Was it any good though?
Nope
Rolls outro.
Prot warriors do totally fine in Wotlk.
Hey I just sat down with a sandwich gonna give it a watch keep these up
Was surprised to not see any mention of dungeon farm/raid specs with incorporation traps.
Might wanna change the title
There is few miss information, shouldnt hunter have glyph of kill shot Oo?
Noooo the fuck?
Hunter is A tier dps throughout the xpac and they won't be competitive? you got stuff wrong about deterrence and imp tracking also
he's not wrong. top dps until we get the all the armor pen from icc era were locks.
He is excluding specs and classes and the people who play them will have a hard time because of that.
@@johnmortslleh2929 hunters and mages did not too until icc gear.
Awesome as always!!
Really looking forward to playing a survival hunter in wrath as I just hate that they've made it into a melee spec.
Gonna main Hunter, but be Marksman from day one, challenge the SV norm :D
what kind of wolf is that on the thumbnail? :)
Also hope i can pick up one of the spirit beasts
start as MM - move to surv in ulduar, then back to MM once u got enough arp
Based on surveys it looks like hunters will be the least played class in wrath, but really they are pretty great in both PvP and PvE imo.
that is very true.
Your content is shit and often very, very wrong. Please leave it to either people who know how to research or actually played wotlk. Please do something else.
Yeah but according to willy the sweaty soiboy people should play only what’s meta because the game cannot be played otherwise.
Good. Let them doubt us. We will still top the meters and misdirect threat to any other DPS who tries to top us.
@@krucible9369 It's honestly just flavor of the month spaz's doing there thing. Stayed hunter since classic, learning all the new changes has been fun asl
I actually think the little things for Hunter makes it much more fun I like pets and pet classes having to feed my pet and take care of it adds to immersion and the ammos do get a little crazy but it's still more content and immersion I always like crafting my own ammo and guns
pretty sure tenacity pets in wotlk for intervene in pvp?
I think you’ll get enough arp towards the end of nax to swap to mm for pure dps
im pretty sure mm does more dmg than survival only after late togc early icc unless you playing survival wrong thats on the person who is playing survival hunter i guess you can change to mm if you play bad survival on ulduar you can do that unless your guild min max or some shit
MM will outscale surv in naxx
@@Pobo_93 i could see that if patch is 3.3.5a and mm running trap spec with explosive trap crit glyph is it true ? im not 100% sure

The title change really got me confused 😂
Healing is still my favorite thing to do in the game. I love how simple pally healing is in wrath. I want to level a priest and try that healing too. I will possibly boost a priest.
In ICC I got (with buff food) 100% Arm pen MM, it was disgusting damage!
Before i watch video ima just say this: armor pen stack + MM. I was there and had a hunter amongst other classes
