    I had never even heard of graphgans before tonight. I'm a few videos into your tips, and I can't wait to get started! I'm planning to design and crochet a merman blanket for my husband.

    You're literally a lifesaver. I'm making a decorative pillow with skull for my boyfriend and i'm thinking about recreating a sweater from animation for myself 🥰

    I’m loving your videos so far & thank you very much for sharing! I’m curious if you’re able to share how we would translate these instructions into something other than a blanket? Like a shirt, pillow or purse?

    Lauren, Thank you so much, this is really great information. I'm hoping to make a pillow cover of my husband's podcast logo. I'm also hoping to do it with Tunisian crochet.

    This was great! Do you have a tutorial showing how to do thos using a picture that you scan in as a jpeg? Mine always turn out way too big.

      Is it the chart that turns out too big? This method should work with any image as long as you're doing the swatch & calculations.

    This video was so helpful! I have a paid subscription, but noticed that I don't have a "gauge" option in my settings.

    • @WillowCrochet
      @WillowCrochet  Рік тому

      They recently moved it, it confused me the other day too! Once you've created your chart go to Edit > Chart settings, title, layout > Size, and then gauge is at the bottom.

    This is super helpful! I have a question though: How do you set up your Procreate canvas to make sure that your design works well in Stitch Fiddle? I've tried a billion times to correctly size my Procreate image and when I upload it into Stitch Fiddle it distorts it and pixelates it the point of my illustration being unrecognisable...

    • @WillowCrochet
      @WillowCrochet  8 місяців тому

      It sounds like this isn't an issue with the size of the canvas but with the design being too detailed for the size of the chart. Do you find the image looks clearer when you increase the row and stitch counts to a very high number?

    Is the swatch always done in UK double crochet? And do you have to do it in the yarn you want to use? I guess that's Yes. And do you have to create a new swatch and pattern for the same image if you decide to use a different yarn and hook size? Thank you!!

    • @WillowCrochet
      @WillowCrochet  11 місяців тому +1

      For graphgans you can use either UK double or half treble, just make sure you're using the same stich in your swatch as you will be in your project.
      Yes, always use the yarn you want to use in the project and I would recommend making a new swatch and chart if you're switching yarn/hook, unless you don't mind what size your finished project ends up!

    I have a question. I want to make my graphgan using single crochet and puff stitches in the design. You mentioned making a gauge swatch. Should I make the gauge swatch using both stitches? The main blanket will be done in single crochet stitch but have puff stitches for outlines. What type of swatch do you recommend? Any guidance or advice is appreciated.

    • @WillowCrochet
      @WillowCrochet  9 місяців тому +2

      Great question! I've been considering doing something similar but hadn't thought about how I'd swatch for the project. I think I'd probably choose a small section of the design that includes both SC and puff stitches and swatch that.

    If you are doing a corner to corner crochet graphgan instead of row by row do you calculate the same way you did in this video to get the measurements you desire or would you calculate it differently for corner to corner

    • @WillowCrochet
      @WillowCrochet  11 місяців тому

      No, this wouldn't work for C2C I don't think.

    • @WillowCrochet
      @WillowCrochet  10 днів тому

      @@HJDPOKENO I don't unfortunately and I've just realised, it doesn't actually mark off the rows, it just highlights the one you're currently on. But if you still want to try it, look to the top left-hand side of the screen, you should see a line of icons (they're underneath 'File', 'Edit, View' and 'Help'). There should be an icon of an 'A', the progress tracker is the one to the left of it.

    Is that the standard size for a swatch to make for any crochet piece? 4 inches by 4 inches swatch?

    • @WillowCrochet
      @WillowCrochet  Рік тому +1

      You’ll usually find that patterns list the gauge measured over 4 inches. So, when you make a swatch, it needs to be larger that that, I usually aim for about 5/6 inches.

      @@WillowCrochet is to make a crochet bag with animal motif that i need to claculate the rows and stitches, is not in a book but something i am trying to create. Someone said to measure the width of the sc sticth and the height of the stitch and them to choose an arbitraty measure of what i want the dimension of the piece to be. Then divide the arbitrary measure by the width and by the height of the stich and use those numbers to calculate the number of stitches for the width and the height , Despite that the piece does not comes out correctly in measurements.
