Excluding apple of course 😅 Kind of nuts really as they don't even do proper budget phones, with the base iphone 15 still 60hz. Maybe the 16 will finally get the bump up to 120hz.
I bought an A15 Blue Black on sale for $150. So far battery life is better than flagship phones. Camera is just acceptable, and sometimes it slows down. But for $150 can't complain.
I completely agree with you saying it looks like an expensive phone looking at it from the back. When i first bought it my mom thought it was a thousand dollar phone 😂
bought my A15 5G last month in August... its the 8/256 black blue version and add a 256gb sd card.. its is a fine phone and serve me well... yes i put it on dark mode and black wall paper, set the refresh rate to 60h, the battery last for 4 days.. i don't care about the bezel nor the notch.. with nillkin case, the phone is a solid reliable daily driver.. and the picture/video quality honestly suffice for non content creator.. its a great phone.
There's S24 Ultra and another Samsung phone as well. Apple's in that list cuz their sales are distributed amongst a much lower number of models, unlike Android manufacturers. Doesn't mean Apple sells more phones.
Well, that is a reason for sure, but it's not the only reason. I think the main reason is that it's a good phone while being cheap. There are multiple Chinese phones you can find around the same price or even for lower, but they are nowhere near in the list.
I think the simple answer with these A1X devices selling so well is because cheap phones are getting really good. As you said Wade, these phones do a big majority of what the flagships do for way less money. We're living in a big recession with economies everywhere so most want good overall performance for relatively little money. Honestly, I think the A15 5g would've been the perfect budget phone if Samsung had included dual speakers. The processor isn't great but it gets the job done. I don't know anything about the 4g version but it looks pretty solid too.
@Just4freepremium umm, I hate to be the one to bring you this news but you got your definitions of words wrong. Recession means economic decline. That's the word I intended to use. Inflation is the rate at which prices for goods and services increase over time. I never used "inflation" because my point was people generally have less money because economies all over the world are bad. Another example of internet trolls trying to be smarter than their intelligence and comprehension allows. Nice try.
@Just4freepremium inflation getting hight means that the value of money is falling. spending 25$ in just the 1990s is now the equivalent of 60$s now, literally more than double its value from 34 years ago
I often wonder if manufacturers really need to ask $1k for a "flagship" smartphone. The cheaper price is obviously why it's selling so well. At least they're keeping budget phones alive.
I mean, it's probably some combination of manufacturing costs and the "market position" they want to be at - top end, flagship, perceived as expensive & full--featured. But does an S24 have like $400+ more worth of components & technology & costs compared to the A15? I can't imagine...
For a lot of them if you add the cost of build, R&D, and marketing costs, the margins are not much higher than they were like 5 years ago. I think it's more indicative of smartphones being stagnant as a category, in the sense that it has become more like PC and laptop markets, there are iterative improvements but nothing that radical to make like 5 year old hardware obsolete.
Probably for the same reason that a car manufacturer might offer a 200,00 car, but then mostly sell cheap runaround cars. Samsung markets itself as a high end brand, so they need to sell some high end products, even if the bulk of their sales comes from devices that people can actually afford.
yes they absolutely need. Because this passes the R&D costs to the rich buyers, who get the flagships. so we - the rest of the people can get really best for value phones. If there were no flagships - let's say somebody banned flagships globally - then all technology advancements' R&D cost would go to all other phones, making phones more expensive overall, and budget phones won't be so budget (cheap). So, those who pay overly expensive phones pay for the R&D for all of us. Ain't that wonderful? :))
13:50 That's pretty much it. It isn't just that the tech has gotten better, I feel that people in general are clocking on to the fact that they can get by on a mid-range phone and not really notice any difference. It helps cut costs down for families.
Absolutely! And honestly, most people don't even utilize the full power a flagship phone and all the features they're paying extra for, so why spend the money...?
I can afford any phone... The A15 4G is everything I need, nothing I don't. Speaker is a little lame but 99% I use earbuds. I even saved a few bucks every month by opting for 4g only service in Thailand... Works fine every time.
Picked up an A15 at Central Festival for 5,499bt ($164) I use an iPhone most of the time but don't like using it with my drone controller (heats up). So for the price the A15 makes a fantastic drone screen and with the addition of extra memory it's a real tool. Still has all the functionality of a decent smart phone so with 8gb it runs all the DJI and GoPro apps easily. And if I end up overheating it here in the tropics I'm not out $1200 on my iPhone.
I bought the Samsung A15 because it's a low priced phone that i can afford to lose. However I have had several.problems using ot-. The screen is wobbly at times and when I message in whatapp it gets stuck halfway through the message and it won't go up or down. I am a iphone person but I thought for a everyday phone I could afford to lose ill buy this phone but it doesn't help with my whatsapp messages and it become tedious
@@thelonewolf70x7in my opinion I see this style much nicer than punch hole which looks ugly to me and I feel like the punch hole phones are just a cheap Chinese stuff missing something in the design even when they are premium phones btw I always enable the cut out option on xiaomi phones to hide the hole that looks like a massive dead spot on the display
I've had this phone for 8 months, second hand, and I just love it !!, suits all my needs, and runs like a dream, tip, don't load it with Apps, and it will run just fine xx ❤😂🎉
I bought a54 couple of months before the release of the a55, could've wait for a few months but i needed so bad a new phone. But after using it. I find it really well, my wife bought a55 so i can compare them side by side.
Thanks for taking the viewpoint of the ordinary smartphone user for this review. As a result, you've given a balanced review that's relevant to the majority of smartphone users. Most reviews judge these lower-priced smartphones using the expectations of expensive, sophisticated flagship phones. Therefore, the budget phones end up sounding like clunky, substandard phones with laggy screens and mediocre cameras. That's just not true. The current budget phones are way more capable than their equivalents of the past. I bought a Samsung A14 5G last year (the predecessor to the Samsung A15 5G) to replace a Samsung J2 Pro from 2018. I was shocked how advanced the A14 5G was compared to the J2 Pro. The A14 5G has basically taken over most of the tasks I used to do on my laptop. E-mails, streaming videos using service-dedicated apps, video conferencing, reading e-books and magazines, borrowing audio books and magazines from the public library, photography, GPS satnav - and probably a few other things I can't recall at the moment. The camera was more than good enough. The Samsung A15 5G will be an incremental improvement on the Samsung A14 5G - things just keep getting better. These cheaper phones are perfectly fine for most people, unless they have a specialized use for them, for example, high end photography or videography, or playing hardware demanding games.
Sort of phone that gets the job done, no frills etc for the general person. Not everyone needs FLAGSHIP performance or fancy cameras and processing, not everyone games. Ideal for checking emails, texting, calls, social media, web browsing
Copped one a couple months ago for like 179 Euros. 8GB RAM, 256 ROM, good screen and decent chip, I absolutely LOVE this phone. Theres a very specific issue though, every time I try to send a video in a channel on Discord it reboots the phone automatically. I dont know why that happens, but everytime i tried i got the same result.
@@drei7970 Thank you, with the numbers it gets confusing! I rarely use a phone but when I do my A51 is still fine for my needs...but now it's playing up I need to get a new one. I'm looking for the sweet spot between price (like this one) and a good camera (like the A51). Cheers!
I appreciate the matter-of-fact and sound opinion of this Samsung A15 mobile phone. I am in the midst of deciding whether or not to purchase the A15 LTE for my mom. Now, after watching this video clip, I am convinced that this is indeed, more than a good budget phone 'that isn't a thousand bucks'! "This phone could be powered by a Mediatek Banana and people would still probably prefer it over anything ex-Zenos"...love the wit! Presently, I am aslo considering to buy a new mobile phone that has good camera and audio features. I have found both Sony Xperia VI and Sony Xperia 10 VI better options as both have a video editing feature too. Please advise. Thank you.
It just needs stereo speakers and it would be perfect. I have a Samsung a35 and I see that the colors on the a15 are darker like the vast majority and it has a better signal due to its processor.
I have just bought this Samsung A15 4G which I am using as on the go photography editing tablet for my personal street photography and I a putting in a 500 GB SD card in it.
If they made a foldable version of the A series i would probably buy it every time. At a base level, i'm not doing anything on my phone that requires ultra level performance. I don't use the cameras that much and i don't game on my phone. I do enjoy foldables to much to even drop down to even the ultra though. A cheaper foldable with these components at $600 would be right up my alley.
@@TechDaily Thanks for the suggestion. Actually manged to get a Fold 2 on deep discount from Amazon years ago. It's what got me hooked on foldables. I just wish there was an entry level device for people who like the function of a foldable and not the power or tech.
Dimensity 6100+ is really not a newer soc. Mediatek has at least 10 different versions with different names of the same SOC they've been shipping phones with for the past 4 years. They just add features like 120hz, 5g to an old SOC and call It new. The exynos chip on the older model is actually much more powerful than this.
The meditek dimensty 6300 is 10 percent faster in GPU and provides 13 percent more fps than the dimensty 6100 plus. The dimensty 6300 is coming to the galaxy a16 in December and while 10 percent doesn't seem like that much its still a performance upgrade
Bro I am on an A15 and I actually use the macro camera simply because it a form of photography I can enjoy. It is certainly an upgrade from the Huawei Y7 prime 2019 I was rocking until I bought this one. What sold me was the 90hz display, I am no longer a power user on a smartphone because doing power user stuff is more enjoyable on a laptop/desktop anyway so this phone has what you need. Sure the flagships are nice with the bells and whistles but when you don't have flagship money this seems good.
Personally doesnt really care about bezels, at the minimum just make it all symmetrical just like iPhone XR or 11, I hate sometimes the flagship went so thin and it's hard to find a cheap screen protector and case because they are not fitted well.
The bezels being asymmetrical have more to do with the screen not being "folded" at the bottom with the connectors underneath. The cheap phones use cheap, older screen tech while the new phones try to maximize space and screen size.
If I was not obsessed with tech specifications, I would happily main this phone because it covers everything I need in a phone and it is inexpensive while looking premium.
I got A13 at work as my work phone, makes sense it is cheap and all it is meant to do is calls. I asume many companies do the same and get it for their workers.
I seen that you did a video of the best Samsung phone to buy but it was like 3 years ago? Would love to see in updated version of the best Samsung to buy or the best Android to buy where you break down several phones.
I already have that phone. I love it so much and I definitely love everything it has and how good it works for a budget phone like this. Samsung has been the king for many years but the A series has been very popular. Now some ppl know that the galaxy A15 is the best selling Android smartphone in the world.
Something that I like from samsung is that offer you Quality and "dignity" despite the Price. From the A05 to the Ultra or Fold are great values Phones.
Sd card, headphone jack, OLED, 4 os updates, fast charging, 90hz, great design. Take my money already I use the white version and I time to time take it out of the case and I've gotten so many people wanting to buy the same phone because it looks very good The cameras are decent and even though I have a few friends who use much expensive phones they complement the pictures coming out of the device and they have no issues with me using this device to take a few shots of them. The videos definitely aren't that great tho 😂 People usually ask if im using the premium version of apps because the inky blacks makes most apps look different This is the phone that everybody needs. No unnecessary gimmicks
Got my father-in-law one. He went from the Galaxy S10, and he doesn't really know the difference. He really likes it. 👍🏽 All he does is call, text, and occasionally check the news. He's 75.
ive owned this phone for a decent couple of months, honestly really liked it. its a bit jittery now and then as u would expect, but performance is still surprisingly smooth most of the time. im replacing it soon with the nothing phone 2a simply bcs im not a big fan of the current one ui and wanna try out the near stock android experience the 2a offers, but for anyone looking for a sub 200 dollar phone thatll work well in every department, i higjly recommend the A15 and CMF Phone.
I have been on Samsung since the earliest days of Android. My first was the Samsung S2 Advanced. Followed by Note 4, A50 and A73. I bought the A15 4G as my A50 died after 5 years of use. I have a A73. And compared, there isn't really any major difference in performance. I paid S$700 for the A73 3 years ago. I paid S$172 for the A15. And for the price , I am super impressed! The battery lasted a full work day. I left my home with 100% battery, and came back at around 40% remaining. I didn't even need my power bank anymore with this A15 which isn't the same with the A73 which hit 50% even before reaching my lunch break at work. I don't notice any lag in performance between the A50, A73 and A15. But then again, I mostly only use my phones to browse social media and watch UA-cam videos. I like the fact that Dark Mode is the default on the A15. This probably contributes to it's excellent battery life. I only had been using it for 2 weeks. So will need to see how it goes in the long term. But if Samsung quality is the usual, i expect to get between 5 to 7 years of use out of it. The old A50 lasted a total of 5 years. And 2 of those years was with a broken screen after i dropped it at work. It finally died 2 weeks ago when the LED screen suddenly leaked without warning and the screen gradually went black. It lasted long enough for me to transfer my files out and for that, am mostt grateful.
I bought my grandma a A15 5G. It was about a 140$ new ( tax is higher here) and I had the s23 at the time ( swapped to 15 Pro max since) but I lowkey felt stupid for getting a S23 after trying out the A15.. there was much less difference then I initially thought, these cheap A phones are SERIOUSLY good
all i need in a phone is long interchangeable battery life, which they cant even provide these days, NFC or contactless payment, youtube and an average camera that can clearly take pictures of documents and a headphone jack
Thanks for the review! Bought 2 for my mom and dad. For facebook, youtube, whatsapp and google maps. These phones are great, especially with the big battery. Only downside is that it does not include chargers, but on the bright side, the slower chargers may help keep the battery in better shape for many years to come.
I was on holiday, my trusted iPhone broke on the last day in the evening. No phone shops open until the next day but as I had a morning flight this was no option. When I got to the airport there were a very limited selection of phones available. Motorola, Xioami, Samsung all below €200 and 1 iPhone 12 Pro Max for €650! This was the first time I had to buy a phone because I needed one. Not because I wanted to upgrade one that was perfectly working I already had. Anyway I purchased the Samsung, its cheap but I would not have if I wasn't in that situation...
With samsung offering 7 years of updates on some flagships, it opens up more possibilities, where you can buy an older flagship for under $400 and still have it for 5 years which is realistically about how long people keep their phone
I have the s23 and wanted to know what the fuss was about, so I also got myself a a15. I was blown away how good it was. Hopefully in 5 years the a15 won't lag too much but it's still super fast at the moment. At the moment it's as fast and as good as my flagship. In 5 years I will get the a35 or a55 range, in other word the mid range. As much as I like the a15, I will treat myself to something in the middle
Excellent review. I am still using my Samsung Galaxy A10e from 2019. Would you recommend the 2024 Samsung Galaxy A15 5G or the 2024 Motorola Moto G Power 5G? More software updates on the A15, but better processor and 8GB of ram on the G Power. I have been researching both, but can't decide.
I had bad luck on my first a15 because, for some reason, the screen would go unresponsive and not detect touching it. It would come and go, but i got fed up with it and returned it. Im not saying anything bad about the a15, just that I got a defect. Upon returing, I bought the a14 for half the price since it was on rollback, and have been very happy with it. I will probably get an a15 in the future, but not until my a14 either breaks or gets problems.
S-series never sell well because the value for money 💰 A-series provides is INSANE!! Because at over $500 most people prefer iPhones over S-series because except for US, Canada & China Samsung charges the same price for Exynos Flagships as the Snapdragon variants as you people pay. So, like you pay the same amount but just get an inferior version 🤡. Here in India especially people are preferring S23 over S24 as Samsung launched S24 series again on Exynos after S23 Snapdragon sales were so good 💀😂. They're just ruining their own market by just doing this discrimination because I believe like the Flip and Fold series Samsung should launch their S-series globally on Snapdragon.
@@devilkazumi578 You're saying this because you have the money to buy Ultra buy what about the people who have the budget for the base S24, they pay the same price as US and get the inferior Exynos variant every year. So, who'll be interested to buy a Smartphone band's one of the top tier phone with this partially 😮💨
@SanketRoy_27 honestly it's no different than iphones selling a $900 phone that has 60 hz refresh rate and the same processor as last year.....crazy how ppl criticize androids so much but let iphones get away with so much
I purchased an A15 after less than 6 mths using an A31 that i accidently shattered as it was the only value for money option no brainer + 5g upgrade. Phone is ok but severely lacks processing power. More often than not i miss a photo or video because the camera app struggles to even launch. Definitely not a smooth premium user experience.
I have bought a similarly priced Samsung phone to the A15/A14/A13 two years ago. What I bought was a brand new half price A53 5G phone 6 months after it was released. Thanks to reviewers criticising the performance of the A53 5G which brought the price down I got a phone that performed better than an A15/A14/A13 for a similar price. I use my A53 5G with cheap wired USB C earphones which play music well. The advantage of all large smartphones is that the large screen hides a large battery. All A series phones have large screens which is the reason for their good battery life.
You got a great phone for a great price! Most of the super techy folks criticized performance because they don't like Samsung's Exynos processors, but its not a huge deal if you arent gaming 24/7
@@TechDaily My A53 plays the Elder Scrolls Blades well and the OLED screen shows detail in dark caves. I have yet to find a game which seems slow on my A53.
Yea i got my Galaxy A15 5G for 187 dollars exactly it is 186.15 where i live you cant beat the quality for the price i really do prefer plastic over glass as long as they make it look nice hint hint they did
For years, i tested the Redmi Note series, because this was the only way to have a amoled-screen under 200 euros... I think in april i got the a15 4g for only 125 euros. I had to test it, and didn't regret it. The cameras with their punchy colours is exactly what i love, and the soc speed is what i would expect in this price range. Sadly i have the 4gb version, and it shows - there are a lot of stutters and you have to be patient, for opening the camera app for instance. Then i shortly testes the a25 - and i must say, this is performance wise clearly the better phone. You can get it "used new" for about 100-120 euros here in germany, and that'a a no brainer.
The thing I love about the Samsung Galaxy A15 4G that I have is that I can put apps to sleep or deep sleep. I can control how much apps runs in the background, I can use ram plus to use my storage is virtual ram and let the background apps run on the virtual ram. It has a great amoled screen(i don't use the 90hz), I can play gameboy games, clash of clans, etc pretty easily, I can reduce the battery charge from 100% to 80% to extend battery life and the list goes on. I even get 5 years of security patches, what more can a person ask for. It's everything a normal person needs and more. The camera is also good. If there are people that wants more then go for the Samsung Galaxy A35, that is the other top seller this year since that phone also has good value for the money.
Bought a Samsung A15 5G when I lost my POCO M3 Pro 5G. A bit expensive compared to Redmi's equivalent but serviceable with a robust OS. Only used for 6 months though, got a new POCO F6 from seeding, then sold it for 2/3 of the original price.
I want to gift this to my dad for his upcoming birthday. His current phone is the Samsung J7 Prime. He wants a phone with similar (familiar) functions and I was hoping, would this be a good upgrade for him? And is it good for long term use?
I'm definitely on team bezel. I think they're useful for holding a phone. I am glad they're not as thick as they used to be, but I think bezels like this phone are about the sweet spot while other phones have gone too far. I used to point at the LG G6 as a good example of the sweet spot when it comes to bezels. I say used to because no one remembers the G6....or LG. But it's funny to hear a phone like this referred to as having big bezels. But I get that phone reviewers have a different perspective since they're constantly using new phones. All that aside, this review was very helpful. I'm currently looking for a new phone for an older family member. There are certain requirements that limit the selection available to me, but the A15 appears to be a solid contender with those needs in mind. From the sound of it, it seems like a good phone as well. Based on this review and others, it sounds like this would offer a level of performance that should work for this person. I was actually surprised to see the specs at this price. A few years back, it didn't seem like Samsung was competitive at the lower price points, so it feels a bit strange to think of this as a leading contender for these needs.
I wish y'all stop with the whole iPhone social status nonsense. iPhone is not a social status anymore. I currently live in a Washington DC area. I see tons of broke people with iPhones in the hood, it's not an elitist phone anymore when people who don't have jobs have iPhones, it's the air Jordan shoes of phones. If anything my Samsung s23 ultra or Samsung ultra phone in general is more of a status phone, because I rarely see people with it and when i see people with a ultra phone it's mainly people downtown Washington DC when i go to my second job. I don't see people in the hood on welfare with Samsung Ultras phones like i see them with iPhones 13, 14, and 15

Thnks so much for the video been a happy Galaxy a20e user the last few years, but was looking for an upgrade and was being shocked about how much new phone where after watched I found this phone for £100 and im sure it will feel like a big upgrad :)
Aside from this thing being made of all plastic, and probably cheap glass, I'm tempted to get this as a secondary phone to my main work phone. My carrier currently has a promotion where it's free. I just have to add a line to get it and pay $25 extra a month for the additional line.
I been using Note series from day 1, now Fold series, the only other phone I have as a back up is the Samsung A15. Even some other people I know have it as their daily driver or backup.

It's cheap, and that's why it's popular. If you look at that list the rest of the phones on it are iPhones. Only android is the A15.
There's S24 Ultra and another Samsung phone as well. Apple's in that list cuz their sales are distributed amongst a much lower number of models, unlike Android manufacturers. Doesn't mean Apple sells more phones.
Try the M35. I think it's exclusive to India only.
Well, that is a reason for sure, but it's not the only reason. I think the main reason is that it's a good phone while being cheap. There are multiple Chinese phones you can find around the same price or even for lower, but they are nowhere near in the list.
The A13 and A14 were the same last year and the year before. Cheap and functional.
@Just4freepremiumMaybe, but they can't be afforded worldwide, they do not have entry level options, and that's the reality.
I think the simple answer with these A1X devices selling so well is because cheap phones are getting really good. We're living in a big recession with economies everywhere so most want good overall performance for relatively little money. Nice try.
@Just4freepremium 0/10 rage bait, nice try Diddy
If they included more stuff like dual speakers, then the A35 would be pointless, they have to draw the line somewhere.
@Just4freepremium inflation getting hight means that the value of money is falling. spending 25$ in just the 1990s is now the equivalent of 60$s now, literally more than double its value from 34 years ago
If you want dual speaker with the same prize i recommend buying Xiaomi phones instead
@@TechDaily It's sort of nuts really. Even on a phone carrier you could opt for two A55 for about the same cost as a single S24 (non ultra).

I m going to replace my a7 2018 with a15 by sep end . At present stuck on android 10 . Lets see what good android 14 is
Sort of phone that gets the job done, no frills etc for the general person.

What about a used or renewed Z Fold from Amazon?

The lowest variant of a15 in my country is sold for a little bit higher than $100

I chose this phone for my mother, she comes from an S7 edge to an S10. She absolutely loves it.
I'm sure it's a really great phone for her!
I got A13 at work as my work phone, makes sense it is cheap and all it is meant to do is calls. I asume many companies do the same and get it for their workers.

For under $200, even a little lag isn't terrible when you get everything else
I almost wanna get this phone for a secondary phone just because!!. Will you be reviewing the pixel 9 series soon?
Probably, but I'm waiting for the Team Pixel drama and paid creator videos to die down a little.
I bought my grandma a A15 5G. It was about a 140$ new ( tax is higher here) and I had the s23 at the time ( swapped to 15 Pro max since) but I lowkey felt stupid for getting a S23 after trying out the A15.. there was much less difference then I initially thought, these cheap A phones are SERIOUSLY good
Just missing stereo speakers, otherwise its A+.
Weird omission right? Like it was probably a $0.02 speaker they could’ve added and just didn’t lol
all i need in a phone is long interchangeable battery life, which they cant even provide these days, NFC or contactless payment, youtube and an average camera that can clearly take pictures of documents and a headphone jack
Thanks for the review! Bought 2 for my mom and dad. For facebook, youtube, whatsapp and google maps. These phones are great, especially with the big battery. Only downside is that it does not include chargers, but on the bright side, the slower chargers may help keep the battery in better shape for many years to come.

With samsung offering 7 years of updates on some flagships, it opens up more possibilities, where you can buy an older flagship for under $400 and still have it for 5 years which is realistically about how long people keep their phone
I will always always recommend an older flagship. Getting an S22 for like $400 is amazing lol

On the same boat as you
I had bad luck on my first a15 because, for some reason, the screen would go unresponsive and not detect touching it.
