I'm learning German and I had this moment while listening to the English version of this song where I realised that I know all the words in the first line (except "Model", which appears to be the same in both languages) : "She's a model and she's looking good", which I translated to "Sie ist ein Model und sie sieht gut aus". I then immediately listened to the German version and was very excited to hear him singing the same thing. This is especially a big deal to me, because my primary reason for learning German is to be able to listen to Kraftwerk, Falco, Peter Schilling and others artists who sing in German and to be able to understand them.
This song and kraftwerk changed by life. I emigrated from the US to Germany, spent 20 years there and had the time of my life (raving in the 90s!) I will always be endebted to kraftwerk for their beautiful craft and influence in my life.

I enjoy their robotic look, a little makeup too. I still listen to them and for me the Eighties sound and synthesizers influence a lot of popular music today. Kraftwerk are true originals...
They are fantastic...one of the first to bring synths mainstream but not the originals. Check Gershon Kingsley's original version of Popcorn...and the album he released in 1969 Music To Moog By.
They are, but let's not forget Raymond Scott, Daphne Oram, Tom Dissevelt etc from the 50s and 60s who were making pioneering electronic music. Ralf Hutter actually went to the Phillips fair and heard Tom Dissevelt I think in Holland as a kid (Phillips had an experimental music studio for electronic musicians) so he would have been exposed to such music early on. The first true electronic music was made in the Soviet Union in the 1930s though.
About the reaction of the audience (or the lack of): This show was on mainstream TV in Germany and at that time the studio audience had no idea which artists would be there when they bought their tickets. It was not announced in advance because the producers would not know either. If you put any band in front of an audience that is basically a random mix of people you will probably get the same result.
But look at the audience. The TV sender didn't cast young people, but old couples, which are probably more entertained by Oktoberfest folk music, rather than by avantgarde pop music. This makes the performance situation bizarre.
You never know. Kraftwerk had been around for 8-10 years at that point and I’m sure were well known in Germany by then, so most of the audience probably knew who they were at least and some may have even enjoyed their music already. Kraftwerk weren’t exactly Duran Duran or Depeche Mode with regards to fashion and dressed sort of conservatively themselves with their button down shirts and ties and sometimes full business suits (ala Trans Euro Express) onstage (back then).

Fantastic performance of their brilliant and most famous hit, they look so alive here, the close-up studio camera showed great detail of their most famous 80s line-up.
+Kameron Wraith du Kemp They were pioneers of modern popular mainstream electronic 'music' maybe, but british bands like Yes, ELP, Floyd etc. etc. were doing experimental synth music more than a decade before this stuff I prefer the sounds of Tangerine dream, more evocative, less pop, less drum machine Nevertheless, the Model is a great piece of music and Kraftwerk are uniquely stylish

The band look more bored than the audience, I guess expressionless boredom is a German trait, they were a pretty odd bunch when I was over their in my army day's 1960-62, Teenagers with half their face painted white, the other half painted black, dressed in leather jackets and purple velvet trousers, walking around trying to not smile, or speak, keeping themselves to themselves. Literally screaming " Look at us, Look at me" but without saying a word, I was over there again in 1983 and the fashion had changed a bit but the teenagers were still an odd bunch of weirdos, carrying ghetto blasters around with the speakers hanging out of the front on wires, no idea what that was all about, also they wore odd shoes
When the announcer came back out at the end of the performance -- I couldn't stop thinking about that scene from "National Lampoon European Vacation" when Russ came out of the fashion shop saying "I FEEL COOL!"
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Karl looks a lot like Jim Parsons!!! This band is absolutely amazing! We definitely would not have Daft Punk and other electronic bands without these guys!!

Half Rutter, I should have been there, in the front row.
Why they should show their emotions? It's rude!
Galaktikas Tūkstantis ?
When the announcer came back out at the end of the performance -- I couldn't stop thinking about that scene from "National Lampoon European Vacation" when Russ came out of the fashion shop saying "I FEEL COOL!"
its a criminal that this guys arent inducted into Rock and roll hall of fame they literally invented electronic rock
Absolutely right, unfair, Germans carry a heavy burden
Rammstein
Fact!
They were, in 2021
John Lennon made electronic music in 1966, listen to Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Karl looks a lot like Jim Parsons!!! This band is absolutely amazing! We definitely would not have Daft Punk and other electronic bands without these guys!!
Público aplaudiendo como si pasara un desfile. Fríos como piedras. Kraftwerk pioneros!!!
I saw them last night in Auckland, New Zealand. Excellent gig 👾🤖
Yes same! It was an incredible show. Truely phenomenal.
When Billy Squier says he's the most sampled artist in hip hop music:

True innovators! Their original music influenced so many other great bands for decades. Some legacy! Very sad news about the passing of Florian Schneider.
Jeden z moich ulubionych utworów😀
I couldn't imagine hearing this for the first time...electronica music has been so deeply influence by these guys. The Beatles of Electronica, without a doubt.
Electronic
Monday mood=Florian

Friday night mood > Karl ❤️
Pioneers of so many genres!
This is so pure and beautifully minimalist. 👽❤️🐕🎶🛸☮️🛸🥁
The 10 meters between the audience and the Kraftwerk, were 30 years long.
THE WHOLE VIDEO IS JUST MIND-BLOWING
They released the song "Numbers" a year earlier. That was my jam!
¡Pioneers of synthpop!
I love this song! It’s so clever, original and catchy. I never heard anything like it before!
Bello, questo video in una TV tedesca dei kraftwerk, con una stupenda the model!
I like that guy who plays the keyboard
Vinicio Haner oh my god that hilarious!!!!! LOL😂
har har
Your a gag!
ISWYDT
Aber wër? 😄
What a damn shame. Kraftwerk is not in the hall of fame. True pioneers of synth pop. The Gods of techno. Their music is truly ahead of their time..
And jay z is in the rock n roll fame? Wtf? Hes not even rock ...its the hall of shame now
@@javena45 Kraftwerk is not rock either. And what's wrong with Jay Z? I actually think there are more rock guitars and rhythms in Jay Z's back catalog than in Kraftwerk's.
But wasn’t Kraftwerk inducted in 21? I thought I read that they were
Edit, after checking, they were inducted in 21, for early influences
@@bencolemanart kraftwerk played their intruments ..rappers dont. U get it? There shuld be a hip pop hall of fame separately...jay z aiint rock n roll all he did was sampled others music most rappers did also
I knew a German who tested brake light bulbs at the Volkswagon factory. He had the same expression on his face all the time, it never changed.
This is brilliant and takes me back to my teenage years
I just watched them in one of the first recordings. A transition from using primitive beats with modern instruments of the 70s to now a mesh of simple more modern melody's with even newer technological instruments. An evolving act and entertainment, yes that's rock and roll and worthy of the hall of fame.
По-своему красивая и грустная композиция.
Destroy all Humans...after my runway show...and afterparty....and my photo shoot...and after I ditch my hangover
Bless 'em all: Ralf functionally warbles, Karl wants to run laps, Wolfgang seeks a challenge (his drum cage perhaps?), and Florian just cracks me up.
John Lennon fez música eletrônica em 1966, pesquisa Tomorrow Never Knows dos Beatles
Florian-bot looks like his battery is running low.
Oh yes..is the post punk wave attitude.
Lol
Yes, not even the thought of das models could bring a muscle movement to his pursed lips. What a bunch of poseurs.
Eh I like it. I think it's on purpose. I smile Everytime I see it.
Half Rutter ♊️♓️🥂❤️💃🙏
Kraftwerk changed the way of electro music that will always be a footprint of past and modern day music.
I want to take her home that’s understood........ love this song , reminds me all the fun I had in those industrial night clubs in Mexico City in the late 80’s
marito242 Was Kraftwerk listened in Mexico?
14 when I first heard this, of in the distance and that hypnotic lead line I just had to follow it and find it, it was playing in an old boy scouts hall at a lake in our town, it was mind blowing could believe the sound, still love it now but vocal trance is my fav, but well this sounds pretty Trancy to me
There's nothing like Kraftwerk. Music beyond the spheres. Just the best!
Kraftwerk inspired so many artists in the 80's. There's no HipHop acts that hasn't been affected by KW.
Kraftwerk is all Time very good xD for you 😉👍
They have inspired me to new blank faced scowling heights.
Depeche mode, first of all.
Can't afford a synth or drum machine but can afford kraftwerk albums 2 turntables and a microphone!
@@jerikgently5302 all those 808s in the thrift stores at the time would beg to differ
