i think your video just sold me this watch...it's the 1st time i've seen this model n i'm gonna get it based solely on your 2 videos!!!...u r da man!!!
Nice to be able to get a 40 mm Solar seiko diver finally that looks awesome to boot. I’m considering the SNE497 as well as the mod that you showed. Thanks for an awesome video dude!
I got his watch for my brothers Birthday, he absolutely loved it (he has 6.5inch wrist size). It wears amazingly i.e. it sits on the wrist and is well balanced.
Great watch indeed, I got the olive 1st gen twice! Tried to take off the shroud and 2 screws were steady but easy...the third hollowed out during unscrewing (using the right size tool)... so that is never coming off... The other I wanted to keep as new... it is the only watch I ever bought twice or new for keeping it new... A lot of other watches in the collection have sacrificed time to this street solar, I love it on a green nato... will go to a watchmaker to get that screw out and get me a spare.
If you put the shroud back on, put a dab of rubber cement on the screw to prevent the screw from backing out. Rubber cement dries grippy, put does not harden like thread lock, so it will hold the screw nicely without backing out, but easy to screw out
This is great! I have a video on my channel removing the shroud of an SNE537 and it is one of my more popular videos for some reason. This is definitely something people want to see! Thanks!
I forgot to comment on your last video, but you sold me this watch. :) Great content and videography! I'm still baffled that this Tuna becomes the size of a Presage.
I am sure you be very happy with the watch Nikolay. As for the strap, you need to drop them an email as the strap is not listed on their website. Here is their email address: secondhourwatches@gmail.com Just tell them in the email that you saw this strap on this video and they will look after you, cheers
Thanks! Would you be able to pop the bezel off the same way as the SKX series? I'm considering the SRPE31, but like my bezels to be bi-directional so I'd want to remove the bezel spring.
Hi Peter, it's very nice to see your video. I saw your another vid bout this particular watch also. And finally i bought one. One question, when there's no screw intact, will it affect the Water Resistance? (did i miss somethin in your vid). Thanks a lot, dude.
Just watched it. Tried to remove the shroud on my SRPA83J. But they are so tight that I'm way too afraid to use more force. I read that the metal is too soft and could damage the case.
does removing the shroud effec the water resistance? I shined a flashlight into the holes on mine and the holes extend into both cases but look sealed. This is my favorite way to wear this watch.
Thank you for sharing Peter! I have a question. Could you guess if I use nato or leather strap of 1.9mm thickness? This tuna's lug looks too short.. but i want T T i want to get your opinion.
It should be fine, i ut a nato on it and because the underside of the watch is relatively tucked in 9in other words the lugs extend downward) it sits fine with the nato. Again every wrist is different, just give it try, nothing to loose. cheers
Night and day difference :) Hey Peter! I know that this is a year old video, but just for curiosity. Do you think the screw for this would fit the SRP639 tuna? Thanks if you'll respond to this.
J. Vanguard drop them an email and make the appropriate enquiry re that strap. Tell Peter Sargison you saw the strap on this video and he will be able to help you 😊
Hi Mustafa, it really comes down to your 'eye' . In other words what do you visually bond with more. No one can make that decision for you, because you are going to live with the watch. Ideally bot watches are the same spec's wise, what do you think you would enjoy wearing more often in differing situations? For me I prefer the 543 as it has a more flexible colour palette with my clothes and lifestyle cheers
nice video mate. maybe you can help me, i would like to change the aluminium bezel ring of my SEIKO SKA759P1 (kinetic), but i don't find any alternatives (ceramic) even in the aftermarket. any suggestion would be greatly appreciated - thank you
Hey Alberto, thats a pretty specific bezel and if there are no aftermarket guys doing one, the only alternative would be to contact Seiko and see if they have spare parts. Apart form that I cannot see any options here
@@PeterKotsa I just signed up, thank you🙂. Do you remember about how much that leather strap cost? About $50 maybe? Also I have to say, I cannot believe how cool that watch looks with the shroud removed, great job on that and nailing that look with the strap 👍
Nope. Wrong!! That's a "Torx" size. The only reason it's working for you is sheer brute force! There's a potential of stripping the head. Seiko shroud screws are "Allen" sizes. I'm not sure (Tiny!) of the size but, I believe it is 1.5mm.
It's a sign of a quality channel that you responded so quickly to your viewers to make this video 🙌🙌
I had so many people ask me and email so I was compelled. Thanks for your kind words once again, regards Peter
@@PeterKotsa well, not all watch channels would have done that mate, so kudos to you 🤝

what a transformation! essentially have two watch styles in one!
correct
I'm getting mine today after watching your first review, can't wait :)

Albert 1987 you asked and I had the time, so I delivered:)
Or buy cool colored counter sunk washers..... I'm getting one just for that!
Thanks for the tutorial Peter.
Do you know if a stainless steel bracelet will be able to work on this too?
I never tried it with stainless steel personally
You can get metal replacement ones for a fairly decent price
Hello, very informative video,i just wanted to ask if water resistance is sacrificed when removing the shroud and not putting the screws back in
No not at all. Water resistance stays the same
@@PeterKotsa oh okay, thank you for answering my question
Oh man I might have to buy this
Thanks! Would you be able to pop the bezel off the same way as the SKX series? I'm considering the SRPE31, but like my bezels to be bi-directional so I'd want to remove the bezel spring.
No, you need a special tool to remove the six bezel

Not at all, the case is still sealed, the screw holes do not go in too deep

No problems at all

Nope, doesn’t affect the water resistance
👍
Peter Kotsa Thank you for the quick response. That was my guess but it was a concern hanging out in the back of my mind as I wore it.
All good 👍👍
great content. Thank You!

@@joon9820 correct, between 4-5mm cheers
After tack out the plastic , what is the size in dimeter ?
It was originally 46.7mm and without the shroud it is 40mm
Do u have any link to purchase the screw set? I have difficulties removingy shroud. Tia
I purchased it from Bunnings (a local hardware store)

Hi Peter,
Is this 40mm diameter across from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock without the shroud on?
Thats correct, (not including the crown of course)
@@PeterKotsa thanks
Thank you!

Now the strap isnt present in the site.. You could advice something else?

I tried this with my Ninja Tuna SBDC and discovered 3 years of wrist cheese and grime packed behind the shroud. It was real nasty.
Ouch, get it thoroughly washed 🧼
Does the shroud compatible with baby tuna or the other way around?
Not sure, have not checked it for suitability
Hi. Could I ask what the shroud is made of please?
Sure, to me it feels like some sort of plastic composite. Very nice to the feel, strength wise, well only time will tell how badly its scratches etc.
Nice demo. Which camera u using and how do u set it up? Your video is crisp and clear. Very nice.
Thanks, I use a Sony A7 camera, standard settings

Can you do this for a Tuna??
I haven’t tried this personally, but I have been asked this before by others. Not sure 🤔
