Never heard of water slide paper before. This technique is super cool - especially like the fact that you can use different sizes (rather than just the standard Polaroid size). Thanks for sharing this!
genius! thank you for this, i’m so excited to try this! polaroids are so expensive - even if you print them using the little polaroid printers - and i too can’t bring myself to butcher them.
Wow! Thanks so much! I’ve done several since first seeing your video two days ago. You saved me from buying a Polaroid camera. Your system has worked perfectly! v
Done the same type of thing with original Polaroid peel-apart film a while ago, when you could still get peel-apart film, but then again I’m old! Anyway, love this and can’t wait to give it a go. Thanks for sharing
That's really awesome! I didn't know about this, and it really does look a lot like Polaroid emulsion lifts. I have to try this soon ... thank you, and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays/Have a good week!
Hi from the uk, I'm researching for my MA Photography degree, this has been very useful info. I'll be experimenting soon. love the Route 66 images. thanks for sharing.
Independently discovered this process as well. But I like your technique of spraying the medium first before dunking it in water. I've been enjoying the random emulsion floating off the surface but I'm going to buy some spray and try that as well. So fun experimenting with this isn't it.
So sorry for the late reply! But i need to ask what kind of paper you are referring to here. Right now I'm thinking of darkroom printing paper, which i don't think would work as it can't be exposed to light and has different properties than waterslide paper... can't say for sure tho

can i find this paper bigger size to make this technique? maybe a2 ? can you help me about that?
@@srad. Hiii! Thank you so much for your reply! I printed at the print store. Their printer is a PROGRAF PRO-4100. I also used a different paper than yours as I'm in Canada. The paper is called Printers Jack Waterslide Decal Paper. Could it be the paper? I need urgent help!pleeease!
Super cool!! Decided to try it! I’m getting a ton of cracking... first the ink kept running even after 3 coats. I left them to dry over night after 4th spray, and then sprayed 5th time and let dry only 10 min and now ink doesn’t run anymore but when it dries it cracks really badly 🤦🏼♀️ Any ideas?
@@beattabosworth6002 hmmm, so I would suggest maybe trying a different paper and see how that works. I know if I move the photo around too much or use the brush a lot it tends to cause more cracking. Also make sure you're doing thin and even coats with the acrylic spray. In my experience, if I let them sit too long before putting them in water they seemed to crack more. Its all about finding a happy middle, takes some practice! Hope this helps!!
Oh I forgot. Polaroids are $2 each and its money down the drain if one comes out bad. Your system allows me to edit and see what I have before I print. Your system can be done for pennies each!
This is way easier and more flexible than the techniques we used way back in the late 20th century and it looks fantastic - thank you!
Waterslide paper is used to make decals for guitar headstocks. This is a great alternative to polaroids. Thanks so much for sharing!!

I am so grateful for this video! Thanks so much! You’re amazing

This is amazing. I’m am going to try this straight away!
Thanks!! I was trying to figure this exact thing!!!
Amazing - will definitely give this a go - thanks
Gotta try this.

Definitely try it, it's very fun. Especially knowing it's not a "one time thing" like Polaroid lifts are 😁
1000 subs soon??!!! How exciting!! Also great video! Would love to try this!
Thanks!!

Are there any alternatives for the water slide paper ? Not able to get them in India, thanks for the video !!! Very helpful
This is really exciting! I was exactly looking for something like this. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!♥️
Amazing work going to try this myself love to see more examples
whoa - didnt know this. love your illustration/stop motion btw :D
Very cool! This might be what puts off my inevitable slide towards buying an enlarger :)
Very cool. Happy holidays.
I noticed that you used clear water slide paper, does it still work with white water-slide paper?
You! Are amazing
Thanks!!!!

How sensitive is it to light? Will it fade quickly ?
Fantastic and what about vintage photographic paper? Could that also work?

Merry Christmas, enjoy 😜
Hi thanks for the video, I just tried it but the transparency won’t stick to the watercolor paper. It goes off. What should I do?
Hi! I'm curious what printer you are using? Sometimes if a different ink is being used than what the paper is made for this can happen

It's a decal. Model-makers have used these forever.
Don’t even know what this is but it’s really cool

Are you using the same kind of waterslide paper I did? And what kind of spray are you using?
@@srad. I’m using Hayes Paper Co Inkjet Waterslide paper, and Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating. Thanks for any thoughts!

Do u let the spray dry between coats? Or spray 3x then let dry?
I let it dry in between!

1k!!!!!!! 🥳🎉🎉
I was hoping I'd hit it before the new year but I really didn't think it would happen 😂 I'm so thankful ❤
srad super awesome!! Well you just made it!! 😆😆
Any updates to this?
Very interesting! But...should be titled emulsion lifts from an inkjet print.
