    This storyline is hard-hitting, Buster makes me sick, it’s awful watching Brody like this, but it’s raising awareness of grooming which is very important. I fear for Ollie , history’s going to repeat itself

      Chelsey Linden they’ve not mentioned Imran for this storyline as far as I’m aware just Ollie, unless Imran is joining the football team? Because this storyline is child sexual abuse in the sports industry! XoX

      Chelsey Linden I didn’t know if he was or not, I’m still catching up on the last week or so’s full episodes as I’ve been really ill in hospital! He might do down the line but at the minute the storyline is just focusing on him continue to groom and then sexually abuse Ollie. X

      Chelsey Linden he won’t if Imran’s not on the football team!?! That’s the whole point of this whole storyline it’s not a normal grooming and sexually abusing a child storyline, it’s a grooming and sexually abusing in the children’s sports industry. So all the abuse will focus on children in sports mainly football in this case!?! X

    Damn he must have been dying inside. I can't even begin to image how much Brody may wanted to die, scream, run, and kill all at the same time from being touched in a hug embrace from his abuser. He got to tell Damon what that bastard did to him because every time Brody says nothing, Buster thinks he has won and Brody will be silent forever. But of course Brody will stay silent until he finds out that Buster molested Ollie too. I really hope Brody stops him before it comes to that.

      zanthus7 can you imagine how much of a risk he must feel it would be to talk? I'm sure he's think he would lose Damon. He's already lost Maggie who was his only protection. If he accuses buster and Damon doesn't believe him, he could literally lose everything. Its just so awful. He must have felt like a child again, completely vulnerable in that hug.

    Poor Brody! The adult him wants to confront Buster, or get as far away from him as he can (so obviously Brody doesn`t trust himself to keep away from Buster, and that is why he booked the ticket to New York) - while the little boy, so neglected by his mother craves to feel Buster`s recognition - and to be called Good lad. And now that Damon has both persuaded Brody to stay, and forced this hug between the two, Buster is starting to creep under Brody`s skin all over again. Poor Brody! On the one side he`d love the recognition and praise he could get from Buster - on the other he would rather not have the sex and intimacy that comes with the territory of getting that recognition and to feel special. He both needs and hates Buster at the same time, poor guy.
    Adam Woodward does a great job of portraying that conflict inside Brody. The hate on his face when Buster first appeared in the door, contra his reaction and look when - after the hug and after Damon had left - first Buster caressed Brody`s neck and then told him he was a Good lad.
    With Damon gone Brody could have pushed Buster away, told him to get his filthy hands off him or even have hit Buster, warned him to never touch him again. Or he could just ahve walked out, signalling to Buster: I want nothing to do with you. But he didn`t. He let Buster both caress his neck and tell him he was a good lad, suggesting Buster still can control and command Brody - and also knows so. Otherwise he wouldn`t have dared to be so intimate with Brody, in both actions and words, after Damon had left them alone.
    Poor Brody! Had Buster told he would take Brody on a weekend trip, just him and Brody, to get to know each other better so Brody could get over his animosity completely, Brody would have gone - fully expecting the weekend to contain more sex than bonding. But he would still have come with Buster, cause he craves the attention Buster is able to give him, and also to be with the person Buster is after Brody have given him sexual pleasure, and Buster are pleased with him - calling him Good lad.
    Poor Brody! The little boy inside him lives to be told he is a Good lad, and to be special in the eyes of Buster so much, he is willing to put up with the sex that comes with it. While the older Brody knows he was used, and still is in danger of being used, by Buster. He wants to get away from Buster and forget about it all - but isn`t able to, now that Damon has persuaded him to stay, and the little boy inside him is opening the door for Buster yet again.
    As a story line this is starting to get really interesting now. Will Brody see Ollie as a threat to his position with Buster, or will he empathize with the boy, trying to help him from being used the same way Brody was himself? And does Buster control and command Brody to the extent he could get him to help him grooming other boys? Brody now being too old to interest Buster sexually, instead of having sex with Buster himself, Brody would satisfy his craving of Buster being pleased with him and calling him Good lad, by helping Buster secure new boys to have sex with?
    The plot is starting to thicken. Guessing what comes next isn`t easy. But so far I am mighty impressed with the story line progression - and all the performances too. Especially Adam Woodward and Nathan Sussex.

      Tvjunkieful12 what are you talking about. It's quite weird that you have thought of this so much to such a degree? Brody didn't pull away after the hug because he was scared. That's all. He's probably been scared for a long time.

      Steph Powell I could have explained in detail, and have in a previous reply on another post, some of the many types of both abusers and abuse victims there is. But it is Friday night, I`ve been to a premiere and a better dinner, and just isn`t in the mood to say more than there in real life both are different types of abusers and abuse victims, and from what I have seen in scenes Buster appears to be the type of abuser who doesn`t see himself as an abuser, but believes he is such an amazing person everybody would want to have sex with him - regardless of age, sex or whatever. Buster sees himself as sexually adventurous, and regard sex as just sex, and feeds his ego by persuading people to have sex with him. What he prays on in regard to both Ollie and Buster, seem to be young males without (Brody), or with a weak (Ollie), father figure in their life, which Buster take over the role of to a certain extent. By being the dream father figure, supportive, cool, confident and more, Buster didn`t/don`t only get Brody and Ollie to trust him. But to not want to lose him as that dream father figure they regard him to be compared to their lack of, or not very supportive one, they feel they cant correct him if he oversteps their boundaries (if they even notice the boundaries being overstepped), out of fear of upsetting him and destroying the great relationship they have/had with him. This he exploits to get them to agree and try more and more - until he has gotten them to go as far as he wants them to. But because Buster is telling them how unique and fantastic they are - and because hearing a father figure say that to them is what they most long for - they will become so dependent on that praise and support, they will not see him as an abuser until they are much older and wiser, but will feel special, and gradually adopt using their bodies, and sex, to get his attention, praise and support.

    • @stephpowell7648
      @stephpowell7648 6 років тому

      Tvjunkieful12 you say this isn't the time or mood to say more......then write an essay on the subject?
      Neither of us know the writers mindset when writing this story (unless you wrote it) so neither of us can say for sure.
      Nevertheless, Brody didn't have great parents when he was a kid but Maggie treated him like her own, he loves Damon like a brother and didn't want to lose that. Buster hurting him was never something he wanted but he was afraid of saying anything for fear of losing Maggie and Damon. Buster probably threatened this to keep him quiet. Calling him 'good lad' probably touched on the need to want acceptance from a father figure that he didn't have but I imagine it was also laced with fear for what buster could take from him. Also if Maggie found out he probably would have thought as a child that she'd hate him so kept quiet.
      There is so much pain in this one scene. It's very relatable.

    • @Tvjunkieful12
      @Tvjunkieful12 6 років тому

      Steph Powell Story lines are fiction, the different types of abusers and abuse victims have been discovered through research and what has emerged through real cases. In my "essay," as you call it, I referred to only one type of abuser and one type of victim, and why I - from what we have seen in scenes - believe Buster, Brody and Ollie to respectively belong under, because I didn`t have time to go through all the various groups of both victims and abusers there is. The reason my reply was "essay" length, was because I gave examples to why I thought Buster to be that type of abuser, and how that type of abuser manages to manipulate his victims.
      You seem to suggest Buster either physically handled Brody (raped him in more than the legal sense) or threatened him to comply. From what we have seen in Buster`s approach towards Ollie, he is showing support, and aim for Ollie to like and trust him. Which in my eyes suggest his attempt to obtain control over Ollie will be through manipulation to get Ollie to willingly agree to and cooperate about having sex - not threats or force. But that doesn`t make Buster`s actions and motives any less criminal, than if he physically had raped the boy. Having sex with someone under age is a crime whether the minor willingly agrees - or not.
      For someone like Buster obtaining sex by force or threats is not something that would massage his ego. The likes of Buster see themselves as sexually adventurous Casanova types. For them sex is more linked to success and adventure, than deeper feelings of love and companionship. More than the person as an individual, they see the person they want to have sex with as a body they desire, or to represent a type they haven`t tried to have sex with before (after having gone through everything from blondes to brunettes and everything between and besides, fat girls, older women, people of different ethnicity or whatever, trying sex with a man - or even a boy - that type of person would regard as just another sexual adventure. The forbidden fruit factor would also make an encounter or regular affair with an underage boy more exciting and more of a an adventure, in the eyes of that type of abuser.
      He couldn`t flatter himself as a Casanova, if he had to rely on threats or physical violence to be able to obtain the sex he desired. For that reason that type of abusers rely on their ability to manipulate and to make the victim dependent on them emotionally.
      If you can point to something in the scenes we have had so far, which disproves my claim Buster is that type of abuser, I am willing to listen. But if not, I think we should leave at this. And I repeat, story lines are fiction - they can be written any which way it is possible to twist them. But in real life there are different types of both abusers and abuse victims - and that is what I base my conclusions on when interpreting the scenes and more to determine both what type of abuser Buster is, and victims Brody and Ollie is.

    • @Tvjunkieful12
      @Tvjunkieful12 6 років тому

      Steph Powell FIrstly, the reason I use the word victim is because that is the correct legal term for someone having been taken advantage of outside the realms of law. I do not mean the term should follow them for the rest of their lives. Some who formerly have been subjected to these types crimes or misconducts might prefer to see themselves as survivors, others as having recovered. I leave to each individual in question to themselves decide how they view to regard themselves.
      As I have tried to explain two times before, fiction is fiction - reality is reality. In fiction anything is possible. But the reality of it is, in real life both abusers and abuse victims can be identified as types. Neither are all the people who abuse children pedophiles, nor are all pedophiles identical, neither in motivation nor modus operandi.
      When Buster first arrived he showed an interest in Myra, now he is with Marnie and we know he previously have abused Brody and have started to groom Ollie. You claim he is sleeping with Marnie to cover what he is. But the fact of the matter is many of those who falls under the category of a pedophile would not be comfortable being close to an adult woman. And especially not if they desired teenage boys.
      There are several groups and sub groups of people who abuse minors, from people who are so sexually immature they only feel confident and comfortable - to be at a level field with - people they believe to be as inexperienced sexually as they are themselves (some mentally challenged abusers, and even some of the catholic clergies who abused minor boys falls under that category - it is important to state that not all mentally challenged people, nor all catholic clergies are potential or actual abusers. In general mentally challenged people are more likely to fall victim to abuse, than to be abusers themselves), to those I suspect we can include Buster among. Who are not specifically pedophile in orientation, but sees themselves as sexually adventurous, and who massages their egos by seducing anyone they desire - whether that is because that person is particularly beautiful or in other ways attractive, represent a group or type they haven`t experienced having sex with before or it just has been awhile since their last conquest. Since their main motivator is to strengthen their own egos and at the same time ignite some excitement into their lives, the forbidden fruit factor of seducing someone who is both of the same sex and below the legal age, for this type of abuser, can feel more satisfying, since the danger element both heightens the excitement and the seduction element strengthens the ego and feeling of success, and solidifies their personal desire to see themselves as sexually irresistible master seductors.
      That is the reason I - from how we have seen Buster attempting to groom Ollie in scenes - feel so certain he made Brody emotionally dependent on him as a father figure and supportive older friend, that Brody got so scared of losing him (not Damon or Maggie), that he found it easier to become what Buster wanted him to be - and got praise and felt special - than to risk losing Buster. The reason Buster could control Brody to obey him, by suggesting what he could tell Damon, strongly suggest Damon would blame Brody for having been in the wrong, and not his father. And how could Buster hav managed that, unless Brody himself felt that at least to be partially true?
      Buster is still the one in the wrong here! That Brody has been emotionally manipulated into complying does not move any responsibility onto him - this is all Buster`s wrongdoing. But because of Buster`s manipulations, Brody`s feelings towards him is likely to be a lot more complex than just hate and fear. The adult Brody - who feels conned and taken advantage of - feels that way, but the little boy inside him has too many strong memories of Buster being supportive and caring towards him, giving him complements and praise - making Brody feel good about himself and to be worth something - for him to want to see Buster in that light. And when Buster calls him Good lad, that activates those emotions full force. Making it harder - if not impossible - for older Brody to believe his rational conclusion he was abused. Emotions always wins over facts and reason, unfortunately (how else could Donald Trump have ended up in the White House?). Your own, and others` need to see Brody to be as hateful and afraid of Buster as you are yourselves would be, is also guided by emotions and not what we actually have seen in the scenes.
      To quickly illustrate the difference between an abuser who grooms someone and one who nastily either camouflage or surprise molest them, here are two examples (taken from Norwegian courts) for you to compare to the Buster, Brody and Ollie scenario. 1) A sports coach was reported, lost his job and was tried, because a 15 year old girl suddenly lost interest in training, and eventually told her parents the reason was that she didn`t feel comfortable being touched and hugged by the coach during training. The coach claimed the hugs had been to show support, and the touches to give technical instructions about technique. But since the coach also had other youths he trained - of both sexes - who didn`t receive the same type of support and instructions, sexual harassment was found to have been proven. 2) Is the infamous pocketman case. A business owner who traveled around Norway and got young boys (some of them under the age of 10) to put his hand down his pocket to take out his keys, cause he couldn`t manage it himself because his arms were bandaged. And who before hand had cut off the bottom half of the pocket, so when the boy in question put his hand inside the pocket, you can imagine where that hand ended up.
      The difference between those two cases and what Buster is attempting with Ollie, is that Buster is trying to win Ollie` trust and to be liked by him. Why would he have bothered doing that, had his intention been to threaten or force Ollie to have sex with him? Therefore Buster`s intention must be to make Ollie need and like him so much, he will find losing him a more scary option than to engage in sexual acts or indecent behavior (I don`t know how far Buster intends to go with Ollie - but I am pretty sure he went all the way, and much more than once, with Brody) with him. Buster clearly intends to have some sort of sexual activity with Ollie over time - most likely gradually progressing over time.
      But I sincerely doubt he will force or threat Ollie (nor that he did so with Brody). I think he will exploit Ollie`s need for him and Ollie`s need to get praise from him, and for Buster to like him - both for personal reasons and for his potential football future, and therefore Ollie will end up finding himself in a situation where he is actively engaging in himself being sexually abused. Just as Brody must have found himself when he was abused by Buster, and that is why he is so scared of Damon finding out - cause he knows some of what happened he initiated himself. Most likely because he needed positive feedback from Buster - which he got if he showed a sexual interest in him, or did something sexually provocative when the two of them were alone. I wouldn`t be at all surprised if Good lad turned out to be what Buster said after the two had completed a sexual act of some kind.
      If Good lad is the phrase Buster use when praising one of his players to the hilt, and the easiest way to get such high praise was from sexual daring behavior or sexual acts, it wouldn`t be difficult for him to get neither Brody nor Ollie to willingly engage in sexual acts of any kind with him, if they felt such praise to be missing from their own lives.
      I think you fail to recognize the difference between grooming and plain sexual abuse, if you think Brody only feels hate and disgust towards Buster. In my opinion the picture must be a little more complicated than that. And therefore Buster, using the right words, tone of voice and way of looking at Brody, probably even now could have gotten Brody to engage in sexual acts or behavior with him - because the little boy inside Brody misses the praise and love Buster gave him after such acts.
      What separates grooming from other types of abuse of children is the simple fact the technique exploits the child`s need for praise, to feel special, to be noticed and cared for by the abuser. The abuser first making himself (or in some cases her) become so important in the child`s life, the child will fear to lose that friendship/relationship more than anything in the world. And afterwards, after the abuser have accomplished the goal, provide so much praise, care, support and more the victim will be willing to repeat the act, or even go further, to get the same praise, care, support, respect etc afterwards.
      Grooming (in cases where both the victim and abuser knows each other`s identity) is a form of manipulation with the intention to get the victim to agree to be taken sexually advantage of - and often to be willing to repeat the process over time - without telling anyone. This can either be done by triggering longings or sexual curiosity already present in the victim, or by making the victim become dependent of the abuser.
      Either way, as long as the victim is a minor, doing so is just as criminal as it would have been to abuse them during the first encounter. And the victims are just as innocent in what has happened, as those who have been forced into such acts by threats or brute violence. Raping someone`s mind and emotions is equally bad to raping their body, provided the victim is a minor (adults is not protected from the latter to the same extent. Seducing an adult using praise, flatter and more is fully legal - attempting the same with a minor is a crime!).
