In the 13 years of being in business I have went from solo to 2 and the last 3 seasons a 3 man mowing crew. The 3 man mowing crew is the best because with 2 guys mowing and 1 trimming there is no properties within reason you can't handle. I'm able to do a full acre property within 15 min if there is not a lot of trimming 20 if there is and 1/4 acre lots in approximately 5 min. I can do 3 acre properties with a lot of trimming within an hour. Love being a 3 man mowing crew now.
Wadup Naylor. Met you at GIE 2021, super nice meeting you. I need to raise rates man. We are hitting $51-$53 per man per hour with our three man crews. We are mowing smaller residential lawns, quarter acre would be towards the larger end for us. I have to get my prices up. Feeling the strain man.
I'm going from 3 to 2 guys this year due to the Covid. Have lost some lawns. I like having the 3 guys like you said to keep everyone fresh and help with the work load.

i been cutting half my life from 20 to 41 we do 30 lawns a day in spruce creek and i still do all the foot work and its catching up to me now and my boss doesn't care he's 67 so doesn't wanna help with the hard work
Agree. Running three man crews has been more efficient, faster, and less fatigue for our teams this season because of our route density. Like you said someone doesn't show you have two rolling instead of one. I noticed it has really helped cut the overtime down while completing more jobs leading to more gross revenue and gross profits.
I am helping my grandson build his business. We are running a 4 man crew. We have done it for the last two years. Of course they are some lawns that Kaleb is mowing and the other two are trimming and blowing everything off. For the most part we run two mowers and have two trimming because of the size properties that we have. But we don’t have a property that we can’t do in under an hour with all four of us working. The two guys we have. One has only missed one day in three years and the other one only took off a half a day for a doctors appointment. He has been with us two years. A teenager and a retiree would be a nice setup for me. Thought i might add a guy this year but now I'm just hoping to have a business when the dust settles.
I run me and 2 guys , I’m 19 just about 70 weekly mowing customers, 3 days a week mowing 2 days landscaping but I do all size properties from the tiny 5 minute lawns to hour and a half lawns. 3 man crew best in my opinion as well, also keeps moral up with 3 vs just yourself and another guy the 3rd guy really keeps moral up. I did try me and 3 guys but kind of over kill and bites into the profit too much at least for mowing but landscaping it was great
The best size crew is the one you can afford. However I am in the central Florida area most properties are 3k to 5k sq ft two man slow season three man crew growing season but I've seen 4 and 5 man crews doing these small yards don't know how they make a profit when 2 guys are waiting on the other 3guys
Some properties are too small for 3 people to get them done any faster. Re-watch the video, I explained the opposite of what you just said... Any many agree on the comments, from experience.

My personal opinion I think more efficient with a 2 man setup ( Both full time ). Just seems to work great on the sized properties I work on.
Looking to stay solo for now, and I've fallen in love with mowing all over again 😄 Now let's see this week how I feel about mulching this year 😂
