    Thanks for an informative video! :) I wasn't aware a wick could soak up all the heat if there wasn't enough power to constantly keep the temperature up.

    Great explanation. My old Weller Expert died and have been struggling to find a replacement iron that I like as much. The one you show second from the right is nice and I have found a decent controller for it. But, as you rightly say, you need the power (W) to prevent rapid cooling on large planes. Thanks.

      I used to love Weller. Now my favorite is the one on the right side. It is the one that uses the T12 tips. They really heat up quickly and seem to hold the temp when soldering a connection that sinks the heat. The one I use is YIHUA 948DB+ II which I got on Amazon.
