I loved this ad, I remembering always singing it growing up in the 80's, very catchy, although I don't think Continental's signature tag line "we move our tail for you" would ever fly now, pun intended.
It wouldn't fly today and I didn't realize it was incorporated into this song. Always thought the 'we move our tail for you' was 70s and never mentioned again
I never forgot that commercial and always liked the line 'Continental Airlines taught the others how'. The gold tail was beautiful - a bronzy gold tail with the black meatball one of my favorite liveries.
My grandmother was a air hostess with Continental back in the early 60s during the “golden age”. She actually met my grandfather at LAX after their flights had been delayed by a storm. She and him introduced to each other and sat down and had a cup of coffee until the delay was lifted. They talked and decided to keep in touch. One date led to another and in 1968, they married in Vegas; and are now going on 55 years together. Weird to think that if it hadn’t been for that storm my grandparents might never have met.
It sucked in the 80's after Frank Lorenzo got his paws on it. That was from 1982 on...At the time of this commercial Continental was still a class act...1987 was the worst.
Ah the good old days before the span of Satan - Frank Lorenzo ruined a great airline! This was filmed at LAX near the GO! I know I was there! What a class act Continental and all it's staff were! Wish it were back!
This is alot like the Australian Airlines ad from the early 90's with the same tune and the same "You should see us now", Continental Airlines and Australian Airlines involved in any way?
No joke. This commercial made me become a flight attendant lol
E W Did you start after deregulation?
My sister is the blonde Flight Attendant on the right of the screen shot with the jazz hands. The commercial used CO employees and actors.
Is she still flying now?
Was one of my favorites and always remembered it.
this commercial single handedly got me into aviation

I’m surprised they’re not covering their ears considering there is a plane following right behind them! 🤣

@handsareme87 In this advert, this tune was sung to the tune of 'If My Friends Could See Me Now' from the hit musical 'Sweet Charity'.

"Holy cow we're Continental"
AJBill--good one. Continental's gold logo stood out. I'll check out your other posts.
I figured this was before their corporate offices moved to Houston from LA.
What a great commercial!!
This reminds me of the old carnival crusie line commercials
With Kathy Lee Gifford? Yes, me too, probably because it was around the same time.

similar.they were feed to Continental in Australia for the cities they didn't fly out of in their own right Australian.
such a lovely flight attendant in the beginning. anyone knows her?
Who's the brunette hair lady that sings the solo at first?
Any idea what song (if any) they used?
