    Looks like they could make a Rez clone on the MegaDrive! Incredible!

    Wow. That's certainly impressive. :D

    Reminds me of Star Fox at the 0:48 mark when the camera is flying through the tunnel with the untextured polygons.
    And about 1:43, when flying through the squares, it's similar to Jurassic Park, "I know this.... it's Unix!"

      Haha! Have you seen the 3DO version it's nuts! It's all precalculated maths being rendered very cleverly :)

    Sweet!

    I honestly couldn't stop watching it. I noticed it does keep similarities to the red eyes renderer looking at the debugger. But I wonder if they rewrote the routines to be a bit tighter? It is running in a slightly smaller window. Must be how the original data was.

      Oh and minor typo in the title :D

      Nice spot!

      I need to ask him! I notice this one again has a lot of block colour. It's a clever technique!

      @@RetroSegaDev its very clever indeed! I was thinking about doing something similar when I get around to making renderers. But here they go making amazing things! Definately ask him! And I cant wait for their write up coming soon

      That's surprising as both renderers are totally different! I wonder what you found to be similar... the only part that both demos share is the music code. And yeah, the original data is just 255x199 pixels (due to using just byte precision for vertex coordinates) so that's why the window is so small.

    Im a feature now. great. :D

      Haha I actually wondered if you might be offended by my use of featuring! Your work deserves the recognition as much as the coding behind it :)

      @@RetroSegaDev im not, but it reads kinda strange to me as strobe and kabuto are both my team-mates :)

      My wording is a little off :) I'll change the title and title card. Bit stuck on the actual video tho lol

    Gosh, fullscreen and great draw distance.

      Until you realise it's just FMV 😁

      @@RetroSegaDev oh, really? Hmm seeing that being used for a released interactive racing game on the GameBoy Colour with the obvious space constraints is one thing, but just watching a fmv from an everdrive at best…less impressive. 😕

    • @RetroSegaDev
      @RetroSegaDev  Рік тому

      It's doing an impressive frame rate though and this could be used for a racer like the one on the GBC.

    • @Fuuntag
      @Fuuntag Рік тому

      @@RetroSegaDev having enough reasonable quality video for that frame-rate is my concern, also implanting gameplay on fmv tracks ala, toy story racer, Ricky Carmichael mtx & Rebel Assault etc is pretty hard. Please don’t get me wrong, I understand there is technical merit here and much respect but it’s slightly misleading and, if you wanted to get this on a cart, not possible in its current form. This video seems to use fmv in a way that’s not suitable for just a rolling background with scrolling, cropping to simulate interaction. Now, that “wipeout” demo…if that’s actually 3d… 😉

    • @RetroSegaDev
      @RetroSegaDev  Рік тому +1

      Alas that's also the same type of thing! I suppose I should really explain it's not your bog standard FMV. Each frame is drawn dynamically on the fly from vector data.
