I was at this show. That guitar was shaking the theater.

*Video can’t capture how amazing that guitar sounded echoing throughout that old venue. It was the best song I’ve ever seen live. I drove up from Atlanta just for the St. Louis show and the 2 shows in Chicago.*
*Thanks for recording this great memory!*

randomly searched for this tonight and can't agree more. The sound of that guitar in that place will stay with me for a very long time. Neil is the truth

Chicago Auditorium Concert---wow, saw my first Neil concert there, on his solo tour in Jan 71...many of the songs that night ended up on Harvest album. He told the story of Old Man, and did an encore of See the Girl Dance with a Dobro Guitar. Saw him there for 74's Tonights the Night, the 76 tour where he first did Hurricane, complete with fan on stage...Saw Harvest tour at Arie Crown Chicago--but nothing like Auditorium sound as echoed in this recording...thanks for sharing. And who could forget Neil and the Shocking Pinks tour complete with Neils Dad being on stage---Poplar Creek, Chicgao suburb.

Got to catch Neil at this show after seeing him many times over the years. Just a staggering performance. Never seen any performer lose himself in his songs like Neil. Most of the evening the songs were quieter and acoustic, but his delivery was incredible. Felt like we were invited into his studio to listen to his vision for each of these songs, including ones by Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, etc. If you get a chance to catch him in Boston or the few other cities he's playing in this format, it's more than worth the price of admission. Long may you run, Neil.

This is an amazing performance of this song just for the reason you state, he felt it. I discovered tonight the first Neil show I ever saw, 1991 in Atlanta with Crazy Horse at the Omni. Until then, I considered him a cool musician, a good show. That night changed that - three songs in he did Blowin in the Wind on old black and completely blew me away. 24 year old me wasn't ready for 'how many deaths will it take til he knows ... TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED' ........... this performance is the same. To hear him talk about the horrible circumstances that led to the song make it all the more meaningful. I love the word you used ......... 'staggering' ....... no better way to describe almost every time I have seen him play. A few years ago, before school shootings were as common as they are (how horrible is it to even type that), I always posted this song on FB whenever a shooting happened ..... 'how many more' ........ still remember Crosby saying while he sang that he was balling ...... thank you Neil

To clarify, discovered a recording of the show on UA-cam .... March 3, 1991 at the Omni! Neil!!

The first 55 seconds or so of this video are just devestating. Honest, real, soul crushing. To have the same reaction so many of us do to such awful news, but then to be able to create something like a song so amazing that brought even more attention to it. How many more ......

Saw Neil at the Tower Theater last year, it was a spine tingling audio orgasm. One reviewer said it best, Neil wandered about the stage waiting for one of his instruments to call his name and he played the hit and he wrote with that instrument. He played so many tunes reflecting his entire career. Will never forget that show, it was if he played for me alone.

I've heard Neil say that before ... he waits until the song finds him, not the other way around. I'm lucky to have seen him live as many times as I have.

Neil is a visionary . To sit on a porch with a friend. The ability to write an amazing song on the spot has pictures in his mind. He is truly a kindred Spirit. Whatever your belief is . He has a heart of gold 😅

Saw this in Boston last night. Afterward, Neil said something along the lines that it was sad that the National Guard killing four wouldn't earn a second glance these days.
