- The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 passed by Parliament is the landmark law sets the marriageable age as 21 for males and 18 for females. The statue is armed with enabling provisions to prohibit child marriages and provide relief to victims. It has penal provisions of punishment for those who abet, promote or solemnise such marriages.
Know more about the law, its implementation and the new provisions in the amendment Bill, 2021 which proposed to raise the marriageable age in this program.

This law should be extended to customary laws as well..why minor girls should suffer in the garb of so called customs that are not benifiting but plaguing them.😕😕
Definition of child age should be clear.
In different Religion it is different e.g.- in Hindu it is under 18 but in Muslim it is under 15.
We must make a clear age for child and adult.
Hence Uniform civil code is the need of HOUR.

Education is the key factor to overcome of it, but the curse is that it is not easy to pursue becouse, in India to go to the higher education or quality of education is too costly to get.

Since the day before many social reformer like, Rajaram ray, Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Swami Vivekananda, tried their best to get out of this but still today we are surviving with this much or less.
And in this view Education is the sword that can cut it thoroughly from the deep root of it. I belong to rural areas where this goes on even today and no-one has the courage to report to the magistrate or court bcz if someone do that it can be intolerated for the The person who is doing this.
Majority of the incidents happen becouse of economically fragile families , they haven't money to teach their children further, and at the same time when get the family who doesn't force for much dowry they make marriage institutions with that, this the actual reality of Child marriage.
Ofcourse education is the key factor to tackle this issue and that can be easy to pursue after equality of wealth or money.
