That roasting of G Farfetch’d was not expected but I can’t unsee it now
Ironically, I'm not seeing a 'roast' of any kind
Roasted duck with a green onion for flavor and garnish.
Literally
"Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough. It was more like a large hunk of vegetable"
Not a lot of people get the reference, huh?
@@Black-ut8ld it appears to me that Berserk is a pretty well-known manga
OH IS BERSERK I knew I recognized it
I really love how G-Farfetch'd changes his leek from a normal sworld-like stick to a broadsword stick, like some kind of knigth from Dark Souls or Berserk kind of thing.
Broadstick
final fantasy 7.
If I could give you more likes for referencing Berserk I could
It gives me more of a final fantasy, you know the usual opposition of Paladin and Dark Knight
Edgy teenager who is too engrossed in Japanese everything
Maybe expecting kids to know about Japanese proverbs was a little bit far fetched
GODDAMMIT.
youuuuu... you can't just-
Listen here you little sh-
You, I like you.
If Pokemon is based in Japan, it wouldn't be that farfetch'd to assume that the place your company is based in would know proverbs from that place
Fun fact : in French, Farfetch'd is named Canarticho, which is a pun on "duck" and "artichoke". It's a huge meme in the French Pokémon community, since he's never been seen holding anything resembling an artichoke.
I'd love to see a Farfetch'd that uses artichokes as grenades
Honestly Galarian Farfetch'd looks like the perfect middle evolution for regular form
True, it might as well evolve into that and then sir fetch’d but I don’t mind that it’s a regional form.
As he said, kid with stick for sword, edgy anime teenager with stick for sword, adult with actual stick sword
Specifically, G Farfetch'd is an edgy teenager who watched/read Berserk and is now trying to act like they're Guts.
"Go ahead... faint yourself."
cant blame them
A teen who misunderstood berserk and literally downloaded the personality and worst aspects of Guts
farfetch'd is absolutely meant to be the "stick for a sword" fantasy, even with the additional context of the proverb. in fact, that's exactly how it _plays_ with the proverb - it's a duck bearing a green onion, so that it can _beat your ass with it_
The original saying is actually meant to be a warning about accepting things which are convenient. This is because in Gen 1, you can only obtain it by trading a Spearow for it in Vermillion City. Convenient because Farfetch'd has better stats than Spearow, but it is a MUCH weaker Pokemon than Fearow in Gen 1, so the convenient "upgrade" bites you if you just trade for it.
"My Stick is a Swordfetch'd" is definitely a fun interpretation though, and is now the only way I can see it.
I've always had a soft spot for pokemon like Farfetch'd or Dunsparce that were just small, never evolved, and were relatively useless on the surface
Ayyy
Same, love them
I actually perfectly or almost perfectly breed a dunsparce and brought it to the elite four. I love him so much
@@dragonheart9400 MY MAN
@@GODOFAWSOMENESS1 lmao
From watching Ash's Galarian Farfetch'd and it's road to evolution in the anime, it kind of gives me the vibe of an antihero or roguish swordsman who learns a lot about being kinder and the deeper meanings of bravery, ascending to a gallant hero as it matures
I like how gen 8 Farfetch'd is the original one just...angrier XD
And darker colour
And a bigger and arguably cooler leek
Now I gotta name my Galarian Farf "Sasuke", thanks Skyen
Name it Guts
It’s also a reference to the killdeer (pronounced “kil-dee”). A North American bird. In some spellings it’s written as kil’d. The Kil’D is famous for pretending that it has a broken wing in order to lure predators away from its nest. Which is what happened in the anime
As someone who was an edgy teen with a stick for a sword, that is indeed how it can be carried
Sir fetched looks like he's T-posing.
All of the Far'Fetched evolutions have only gotten better to me as I got older. As a kid with Far'Fetched I never felt like they were super powerful or anything since I was way more into my Charizard (it's a dragon come at me!). But as an adult Sir'Fetched and Far'Fetched feel like my mascots when playing Pokemon.
Farfetch'd is a kid with a stick-sword.
Galarian Farfetch'd is an edgy teen with a stick-sword
Sirfetch'd is a teen jock with a stick-sword who also managed to find an old broken cellar door for a shield.
Sir Fetch'd looks like an adult -at a larp- using a stick as a sword.
G Farfetch’d: I HAVE THE POWER OF GOD AND ANIME ON MY SIDE! *gremlin scream*
G Farfetch’d is a Yasuo player
Galarian Farfetch'd looks like it says "Yare Yare Daze"
I love Kantonian Farfetch’d so much
G-farfetchd looks like the kid with a stick turned into a teen with a club about to mug me for my shoelaces.
It was definitely always playing on the "using a leek like a sword" thing, as Farfetch'd learns a lot of "slashing" moves (Slash, Fury Cutter, Night Slash, Air Slash, etc.)
The G-Farfetch'd call-out feels like it's targeting me ngl
- someone who picked up kendo after getting way too much into anime in hs
Galarian Farfetch watched berserk precisely once
I really wish they just lade this into just one cohesive line, like look at that ending image and tell me its not a perfect 3 stage evolution
I named my pet duck Farfetch’d
I love the little band of white at the base of the feathers sticking up on Galarian Farfetch'd's head, it makes it look like a topknot instead of just feathers, which really sells the idea that they're a teen who saw Yasuo or some other samurai and immediately decided to grow their hair out and copy the style because it looks cool
Galarian Farfetch'd was one of the instances where I felt like they could have just made it a unique evolution of the regular farfetch'd, it seems to be slightly bigger, a bit more detailed and its weapon, the leek, is clearly bigger and with a different position. I would absolutely buy that it was an evolution rather than another form.
When I first encountered a Galar Farfetch'd I thought it was a new evolution for Kanto Farfetch'd, that is, before I saw the name.
I thought farfetch’d was based on a Japanese saying that is basically their equivalent to english’s “when pigs fly” thing since for us pigs flying is a farfetched idea and a duck with a leek is their equivalent of that same farfetched idea, hence the name.
So we got, kid with a sword, edgy week teen with a sword, and dad who lamps on the weekends and has a nice foam broadsword, with a metal core.
I love my Sirfetch'd so much.
Maybe not as much as Jocrap loves Sirfetch'd, lol.
One of the best moves farfetchd csn learn is "grass blade".
to me galarian farfetch’d looks like one of the quiet kids in school that looks ready to crush everyone’s hopes and dreams
Farfetch’d standing next to G. Farfetch’d and Sirfetch’d looks like a 3 part evolution line
I love farfetch’d in Pokémon stadium games due to the animations they gave it. Like when he flies, he puts the stick in his mouth, fly up, toss it so it pointing at the enemy and fly down with it.
Galarian Farfetch’d reminds me of the bullies in anime with a bat.
The idea is that a duck holding a leek is an absurd idea.
The idea is farfetched.
I just love bobbing my head with farfech'd
My only gripe with Sirfetch'd is that its body looks too similar to its pre evolution, wish it had a bigger, goose-like proportions.
farfetch'd is so simple and yet.. so charming.. it always stood out to me and i dont know why
Galarian farfetch'd isn't an teenager on anime with a stick, he's got the whole damn branch.
You just roasted galarian farfetch'd and edge teenagers at the same time.
I always thought farfetched was a King Fisher as a kid.
This video is how I learned there was a Galarian Farfetch'd in the first place.
My family always referred to farfetched as "the pissed off bird" 🤣🤣🤣
This is one of the best analysis of a Pokémon design lmao
Never thought about g farfetch’d as an edgy teenager rather than a kid but it works perfectly lmao
Now that you've mentioned the designs and put them side-by-side, i really with Galarian Farfetchd was an evolution so Farfetchd would've had a 3 stage evolution form kid to adult.
That thing was too big to be called a leek. Too big, too thick, too heavy and too rough. It was more like a large hunk of bark.
- galarian far fetched probably
Fun fact: the big leek is a reference to how British leeks are much larger than he's you'd get in Japan
Galarian Farfetch’d is a Berserk reference and you can’t tell me otherwise.
Another thing that's kind of funny that I found out recently is that the term "Onion Knight" which originated the Final Fantasy class and the Dark Souls character may be in refference to how, since swords made from Damascus steel have a distinct pattern reminiscent of sliced onions, some warriors would reffer to those types of blades as "Battle Onions" and so it would stand to reason that Onion Knights would be a term used to reffer to swordsmen.
I wish galarian farfetchd was either non existent or a slightly changed middle stage, because the original farfetched still isn’t getting attention
Nice how they finally gave love to a pokemon who is popular, but not generally beloved
Oh I have never seen Galarian farfetch’d before but damnit now do I want one. ITS SO WEEBY I LOVE IT
Galarian Farfetch looks like Guts from Berserk. That's probably the inspiration.
The evolution should have been named "Absir'd"
Me getting Farfetch'd in gen 1: "lol hm slave"
Me fighting a trainer using Farfetch'd with Swords Dance: OH GOD IM SORRY
I used to think farfetch’d evolved into doduo because of the placement in the Pokédex and the fact they were both birds
Galarian Farfetch'd and Sirfetch'd are the perfect balance of cool and comedy. Sure, you can take it seriously. But you'll never take it as seriously as it takes itself.
As a longtime fan of Farfetch'd I think an evolution that slyly acknowledges its meme status as an underpowered 'mon was the right call.
*Dear TBSkyen* it’s a leek. It being a Vegetable, this, is called *a leek.*
That thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of vegetable.
The main course that brings a side dish lol
Normal Farfetch'd doesn't look angry though despite the v on his forehead
Don’t f*ck with him! He has the power of Arceus and TV on his side!
Plus the leek is actually a "Lancelot leek" which is a fucking MASSIVE leek
I love G Farfetch'd LOOK AT MY GUTS COSPLAY DUCK BOI I LOVE HIM
Galarian Farfetch’d has the power of God AND Anime on his side!!
I don’t know why but I always though the expression “a duck comes bearing green onions” was like the Japanese equivalent of “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.” Like as if to say “don’t question why this duck is carrying around a green onion just take it and be grateful.”
Honestly, if you added regular Farfetch’d to the Galar region it looks like a perfect 3-evolution line
First stage; the kid who wants to play swords
Second stage: the teen who took up the sword as an edgier berserk fan and wants the world to know how tough they are.
Third stage: the adult who actually knows proper sword techniques and is a strong galliant protector now that he finished reading what is left of Berserk.
The mention of the mark on the eyebrows makes me realise that farfetch’d kinda looks like an angry bird
Galar farfetched just called me out
I see battle in 5 seconds in it now
I always thought Galarian Farfetch'd was more supposed to be the brutish barbarian to sir fetchd's chivalrous knighr but maybe that's just me
You can never really beat stick for a sword.
Galarian Farfetch'd could totaly be a evo for regular Farfetch'd
First time I played Pokémon I used the random trade thing. And I got a farfetched. That dude stayed with me the whole game. I really have a soft spot for him. And u know everyone got that one special Pokémon, the evelutions, starters, for me it is farfetched ❤
Fun fact they eat these as a delicacy
Everyone loves a good stick
I remember using a farfetchd in pokemon X until i beat the champion, pretty cracked duck
I still think that they absolutely missed a chance to have Farfetch'd's evolution, who wields a sword and shield in a knights-and-castles inspired region, be called Absir'd
That is the best pun I've seen for the pokemon
*log for a sword
I ADORE galarian Farfetch'd
While I do think Sirfetch'd is fun, I think I would prefer Galarian Farfetch'd to be the actual evolution. It's just such a perfect expansion on the theme. Could maybe have Sirfetch'd as a third stage instead
I agree, I love the original Farfetchd too, the fact it is just cast aside for the better Galarian Version, i wish it would just be a three evo state.
im new to pokemon but I wish this guy has more evolution like a samurai or using two leeks as a double blade
I feel like not enough attention is given in this video to how Sirfetch'd's Onion Armory has gotten so much more complex and sofisticated even though Sirfetch'd itself hasn't gotten much bigger. Puts me in mind of a cosplayer getting more and more confident in their craft over time.
Oh that's dark didn't know that.
It's just a farfetched idea for a bird.
I like normal far fetched more
Farfetch'd: Deku
G-Farfetch'd: Guts
Sirfetch'd: Escanor
Its so weird casue thats literally a mental evolutiok as well.
The childhood friend who wanted to do good but ended up being angry and gruff because he got hurt a bit too kuch into his teenage years ans also hormones and then ends up as a confident dignified adult thst is still goofy but its only because he is literally strong enough to destroy you in one shot.
You can say they were far fetched with their ideas
normal farfetch’d is literally a duck with a leek and the mean eyebrows thing is kinda the only thing that keeps it from being so boring
and then there’s galarian farfetch’d which is a 13 year old who read the first chapter of berserk
At leats you didnt mention how far fetched were hunted to near extinciton.
Am i the only one looking at galarian farfetch'd as bird yasuo
The eyebrows like like shoutmons head from digimon man I miss digimon im go rematch it rn
Honestly I thought it was a leek, even came up with a joke. What pokemon gets arrested for public indecency? Farfetch'd, because it always takes a leek in public
I love everything about this
I’ve ended up watching a surprising amount of Pokemon: Master Journeys while looking after the kids and the Farfetch’d arc is absurdly good.
Take that edgy teen anime protagonist model and give him a grounded sense of wisdom, honour, duty and perseverance and you’ll see him in a whole different light.
The design is super contrasting with the other Pokemon he fights because they look more conventionally powerful and dangerous and then there’s this small bird with a leek that does not back down no matter how much punishment he receives, only stopping when he is put flat out and can’t stand up anymore.
The animation really brings him to life in the show, completely different vibe than the one here.
