Even if you can't shoot grenades that were thrown, you can shoot a dropped grenade from a dead body. Also you can get a medal called Remote Detonation from this.

You can, however: detonate grenades by shooting them (even when they are on weapon pads still), I noticed that I accidentally triggered the dynamo grenades on the weapon pad when I dropped the drop wall right on top of it, the ravager's charge shot that spits out fire detonates grenades and I think it detonates player thrown grenades as I have gotten grenade kills after, I presume, the person standing in the fire tried to throw a grenade.

Back in the day, original Halo 2 days, the bridge mission, I would mess around for hours jumping on the pelican and glitch out of the map and explore for hours...so much fun as a kid, I called it Mario World for its simplistic paper like appearance.
i was in a clan ( there was a friends list and a clan list ) that did nothing other then glithc , we wood break out of most all the multiplayer maps using the rocket/sword glithc , was super fun to mess around on the outside.
I remember my friends and I disabling the guardians in Halo 3's Sandtrap map by spawning in too many mines, then exploring the map's outskirts on warthogs. Good times.
pelicans have hit points in this game, so when you guys were skewering the vehicles it must have "killed" the pelican disabling any scripting making whatever vehicle it dropped off still count as on the pelican making it invincible
More then likely it was the act of pushing it off of its pathed axis, making the if/then loop break for entering and leaving the map. With that state not clearing, the the leave animation doesn’t trigger.

I've seen similar behaviour in other gameobjects in my projects where if you set something to do this VERY specifik thing, something then alters the trajectory or position it screws up the whole script. I doubt they'd accidentally make Pelicans destructible. It's a whole process in itself to make something be destructible. and shooting the Vehicle before it drops doesn't do shit either. You can drive them fine unless you hit them after release.

You absolutely can blow up grenades mid air. It must be a bug or something else going on. There is even a medal for it and a message in the loading screen saying you can do it headed "Don't tell me the odds"
I've got the medal for it 2 or 3 times now. I know you can even detonate the grenades that are dropped from a player dying as I've don't that for the Remote Detonation medal.
Discovered this due to some really strange lag: Spam Ravager trying to get it to shoot, made noise but nothing came out, panicked and threw grenade. Moment the grenade spawned the ravager shots appeared in the exact same spot, detonating the grenade in my face and letting me get headshot by a commando.

It's a pretty strange time again that my best friend and I who have played all the halo games together are sharing halo mythbusters videos again and excited for a new Halo game. 15 years of playing Halo together and it feels like nothing has changed.
Many scientists have attempted to study this bizarre pairing but have gone back to studying the birds and the bees cause Wasps are terrible and nobody likes them.

Funny little thing I discovered when training: You know how shooting grenades makes them explode? Shooting spike grenades makes them just disappear. They don't explode.

Grenades can be detonated mid-air by shooting them. I got a medal for it when I happened to melee someone's grenade and it killed them.
