Yep, they honda and toyota are really reliable. I have 2013 honda civic with 140 000km and have no issues. Ya if these sporty cars even get close to 100 000km, they just die lol
Do you have the 1.5 turbo engine? If so did you encounter any problems concerning oil dilution? As soon as I Google Honda CRV I get a lot of oil dilution articles and it is a deterrent to buy the car..

His whole attitude is often pretty different depending on which car brand he is sitting. Even a boring af dashboard from a Skoda or Seat he find "smart looking"... but this is Japanese and he doesn't have a thing for Honda so he didn't seem to wanted to test the car anyway
I think the interior looks quite nice and the wood works well. People kinda jump on trends and then feel obliged to blast things a bit unnecessarily. I think his reaction was a bit extreme.

Hoàng Giang Nguyễn had my CR-V for 12 years with 0 issues, bought another one and so far so great. Honda and Toyota are known for the long last quality, best in class.
I already own CR-V 2019 5 seats, honestly the review was negatively loaded and missed a lot of PROS. I see CONS mentioned just for criticizing purpose not in something in core auto manufacturing domain. Cons mentioned were very subjective and could vary from someone to other and from daily needs of someone to other.
Weirdly CRV was voted as best mid size SUV by several auto journalists in my country in Malaysia. The only thing i cn agree is when it comes to mechanical components Honda is one of the most reliable out there
Personally I agree with almost everything Mat said. The Honda CRV is only good at ONE thing and that is PREDICTED reliability. Everything else is crap like the infotainment system, the driving, the looks etc.
Nice to see a decent SUV tested here Mat! When you consider the price and quality of build and service you get from Honda it’s far better than German rivals
Roger Heaton You must be joking this is so inferior to any VW Skoda or Audi It’s pig ugly like alll Japanese cars and its interior quality and infotainment is way behind the Europeans
Wow, fairly damning for a vehicle that was one of the first to the SUV scene. However, for sheer build, including the hard plastics and flexible centre console, I bet this car will provide more than a decade of reliable, enjoyable ownership, which I doubt The Peugeot equivalent will ever do. Honda needs to up their game on interiors, boot design and infotainment, by the look of things. It will hold its value, though and the trade will love them!
Let's be honest, CRV s are not fashionable, never get outstanding reviews, the type of those that puts them on the map. Yet still people buy them in pallets (bad exaggeration joke inserted) , being one of the big sellers in the world, no need to figure out why. Yes, infotainment is rubbish (when did you ever seen a good one on a Honda) some plastics around the place, wobbly centre console etc. However 85 years and a million miles later down the line (another bad exaggeration joke inserted) this will still be around driving with little to no issues at all, compared to the almighty and pricier Germans which might have had a few issues by then.
In America, Honda sells the CRV only as a 5 seater but sells a purpose built 8 seater called the Honda Pilot. It's a very practical car and is the best overall 8 seater
The CRV only makes sense as a 5 seater because it's a small SUV. I don't know why Matt would bother reviewing and picking on the obvious compromises of the 7 seat version.
I have an SR AWD manual version of this car and it’s brilliant, it literally has none of the bad points from this review haha 😆 the engine is nice with very good pull, it’s not noisy like the cvt, the manual is typical Honda (wonderful), the boot has a load cover and a normal practical design, mine has the aluminium inlays instead of the wood. Great car 🚗🙌🏻
I have just purchased a 5th gen with 7,000 miles.... I do a 50 mile round trip, 40 of those on a motorway. I am driving in eco mode and getting 51.6 mpg. A bit noisey when accelerating but extremely comfortable.
I have been waiting for this review for a year, finally you have delivered. However I really dont think this review was your best. Ps I own a BMW and the options you get here are way better on this crv
Has teh 7 seat AWD version then complains about boot space. I know people who have the last version, I[ve driven it often too and it is a great car. Cracking engine and gearbox. Smooth ride and has a very 'plush' feeling on teh road with a damped feel. It's quiet on the motorway too.
I love his other videos and after watching many of them, I have finally decided he doesn't really "Review" Japanese cars, he just describes how awful they are. If you're looking to buy a Japanese Car check out other reviewer's videos instead of his. Japanese cars are tough and durable and thus the most popular in South Asian Countries like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc
Wanna buy it ? Cause i have 10 years of experience owning it. You can never go wrong with this car. I had the 2.4/2.5 petrol auto it was quick as hell. Also I did service regularly at Honda so during the 10 years there was absolutely no problems. Never had shown a code (after coming to UK in 2022 only i learned about codes in cars lol) .Handling was mwahh. I was in Oman so, the top spec didn't have leather seats or the sat nav, but rest were same. I did 269,000 km on it and had to sell it only because we were moving to the U.K. Also before selling it we went to Honda and had them check the car. They said it had no probs and the suspension felt like it was actually new (we didn't change anything). And now we bought a vauxhall insignia 09, but thinking back I miss the CR-V.
Man Honda will sue you for this. Well, I love the design but all that u pointed out should be considered very well. Can we have this compared with RAV 4 and Mazda Cx5 review? Anyone with me on this?
I have tested a 2019 CR-V hybrid SR against a 2019 Hybrid RAV4 Excel. I thought the 5 seat CR-V was superb, agree about the wood trim but Matt didn't mention you can specify metal trim instead in the UK or on an SR you can have a light colour (Beige) interior which suits the wood a lot better, I agree the ride really is very good, exceptional! but I also agree it was a fair bit noisier than I expected, a usual Honda shortcoming in my experience. The driver aids, adaptive cruise and lane keep were the best I have ever tried in ANY brand, very powerful, even at night due to brilliant LED headlights. The hybrid was also a lot quicker than on paper (I timed it at 0-60 at 7.9 seconds AWD model). There has been a lot of moaning about the infotainment in it, but to me it was fine, set it up once then it let me make phone calls and I could listen to the radio.. job done for me. I averaged 43mpg over a day of mixed driving. The RAV4 gives it a very good fight, exactly the same size and virtually the same price SR vs Excel AWD. The RAV4 was very close in comfort and possibly a bit quieter in normal use. The specs are almost identical too. The RAV felt a shade faster and more responsive (some have clocked it 0-60 well below 8 seconds). Both offer comfortable seats and lots of rear cabin space. I would say the RAV interior had the edge in quality. The driver technology, the adaptive cruise was effective but the lane Trace noticeably weaker than the Honda's. Again the RAV has a lot of criticism for its infotainment, especially for not having android/apple but again, it makes handsfree calls and lets you listen to the radio so its zero problem for me. On my test I averaged over 50mpg. In summary I would be very happy to own either, both superb cars but here is the crunch, as a company car the CR-V is 126g/km, the RAV4 103g/km emissions and no diesel extra 3% on top so a higher rate tax payer will pay £700 a year less tax in a RAV4. But here is the crunch, after 2 years the Toyota will be worth £3700 more than the Honda despite costing the same to buy. This has a MASSIVE effect on the lease cost, combined with the tax saving makes the RAV4 considerably cheaper to own as a company car. Which is why I have a RAV4 on order!
Think his comment on the interior was unfortunate as the interior is far better than before and really solid including the fake wood. This is a CRV I would like to own especially the hybrid
Your review was laced with sarcasm against Japanese vehicles in general and Honda in particular. Anyway that is my view. For your information, I am not an owner of Honda vehicles.

@@FrozenDung Are you fucking kidding me.. Amazing??? It looks fucking tragic! What are you actually comparing it against??? Yes compared to the new RAV-4 the CRV looks good but so does a dead fish. Cannot believe this car does not at least get shortlisted. Why pick the 1.5 turbo? For very little extra you can have the hybrid in the same trim levels. Best bit, its not diesel, still has all wheel drive, far superior fuel economy, and is virtually silent to drive in all but extreme circumstances. @Carwow do you have any thing against Honda?
Why are you trashing this car so much?
I think you have missed the plot on this one.
I already own CR-V 2019 5 seats,
honestly the review was negatively loaded and missed a lot of PROS.
I see CONS mentioned just for criticizing purpose not in something in core auto manufacturing domain.
Cons mentioned were very subjective and could vary from someone to other and from daily needs of someone to other.
I test drove the hybrid version and it was quite good. Also, that has a touch button gear selector, which gets rid of that poor design option.
Weirdly CRV was voted as best mid size SUV by several auto journalists in my country in Malaysia.
The only thing i cn agree is when it comes to mechanical components Honda is one of the most reliable out there
MuZ LimPz The best built SUV overall. If you can live with poor infotainment and trunk design, this CRV will last ages and with a trouble free life.
Because most Malaysian only cares about practicality and brand image. I’d go for Proton X70 anytime.
With the new turbocharged engine it will be nowhere near as reliable as the old naturally aspirated CRV...

I'm guessing this guy's finally got himself a sponsor.. and I'm guessing it's not Honda.

Personally I agree with almost everything Mat said. The Honda CRV is only good at ONE thing and that is PREDICTED reliability. Everything else is crap like the infotainment system, the driving, the looks etc.
when you really look for negatives in life you'll find them.
Mike we'll have to agree to disagree.
I totally agree, it just seems a step back for me but Honda's customer service is spot on unlike VW.
AJ S spot on!

The CRV only makes sense as a 5 seater because it's a small SUV. I don't know why Matt would bother reviewing and picking on the obvious compromises of the 7 seat version.
There are many 5 seaters with 7 seater version and Mat have never had any problems with them even though they had the same issues as CR-V

Main issue with the 1.5L turbo petrol engine is the "oil dilution" its having
It WAS an issue in a very cold environment and that is fixed now.

Lol
Same, I wanna know how it stacks up against the RAV 4
Cx5 is too small to compare with RAV4 and CR-V in my opinion
What about the Subaru Forester instead of the Mazda CX-5?
PS the CX-5 doesn't even come into it, with a 37% BIK rate it would cost a company car driver over £2000 a year more to the government..no thanks!
Seems like the review was done in bit of a rage.
