I almost screamed in the theater, I was so happy, but I didn't want to scare the people next to me. Btw, I think they came in not being familiar with the Broadway show and were just curious. They were laughing throughout the movie and after it was over, one girl said "That was actually good!"
@@AlexeBriand2002 No, technically speaking the OG line was just "I'm a mouse, duh" which then then changed to "I'm a sexy mouse" in the stage musical before reinstating the "duh" here, so I see this as a lyric change that happens to reference the original :)
Damn , I really wish they would have used the broadway instrumental instead of changing it. But I’m glad that people are finally seeing how amazing , Avantika’s version is.
Avantika killed it in the whole movie but especially this scene. Even though the Broadway instrumentals are better, I think Sexy works with the edm twist in the dance break. I wish the rest of the song had more powerful instrumentals though, but that’s a problem with the entire movie.
I hated her the whole movie except for this one. This is the only part of the movie where her character actually feels like a real person and not a character playing extra dumb for a movie. HOWEVER, I don't blame the actor mostly on this scene alone. It's so great. The direction is at fault here in my opinion. Is like the director went you're dumb so like put a straw up your nose lol
that’s actually my least favorite line change. the original line points out the issues with neoliberal feminism “promoting” that woman should work harder in more difficult positions whilst adhering to more difficult standards. i think this is considered one of the lowkey super important insights that most of them don’t realize. the new line is more like “oh look i’m hot and i can run the world” which negates the whole idea of the song being these standards of hotness that karen is forced to be yearly. she enjoys halloween because it’s the one day that the hotness is not dehumanizing but connected to what she wants. is you read the whole thing my bad for the feminist rant🫡
I love this song and both of these versions!! Avantikas is more poppy or like smooth, bc yk, auto tune. But Kates is so raw and they both play the character beautifully
I love the broadway choreography during the instrumental part so much! I also memorized the choreography on that part, I know it better than the dances in the actual show I’m doing lol
They both did a great job in the role for the each adaptation, when adapting from a movie to a live Broadway show to then adapting both into a movie musical, things are naturally going to change in some ways. At least for this sequence both were good in their own mediums.
I’m surprised when they made the movie and they didn’t try doing a reference to when mean girls was doing a touring show promotion where they had both actors from the Broadway and the touring version and Karen’s ones is like really funny
Ok so here is a question. This is obviously timed perfect. Does the broadway pit play to a click? And if so how do the singers get the click, or are they just singing to a perfectly timed band?
I really appreciate and love how they change "I EXPECT to run the world in shoes I cannot walk in" to "WATCH me run the world in shoes I cannot walk in" it brings a whole new and better, more appropriate meaning to the line ❤
i think people need to cut it some slack. using the musical instrumentals obviously would have been amazing but then it wouldnt be unique. i love how avantika sung it with different inflections at different parts. both songs stand alone as amazing in their own right instead of being a carbon copy ❤️
say what you want about some of the uh... questionable choices the movie made, but this was a cool change. LOVE LOVE LOVE the original, but adding the slightly more EDM edge gives the song it's own place in universe while still being faithful to the original... unlike other songs *side eye* we're looking at you stupid with love
Very surreal how this is my least favorite song from the Broadway version, but it ends up being one of my favorites from the movie because the staging and arrangement of almost every other good number are butchered, while this is somewhat improved. They still left the random ass feminism line in, but hey, you can't get always get what you want.
I love the change to a more EDM feel, the original was TOO Broadway lol, idk how to explain it, but still fun when I’m in the mood, but I am OBSESSED with the new one! I hate when tv randomly mentions/forces in feminism and stuff, but I do love the way Avantika pronounces it, so I still like it regardless
to be honest i dont like the broadway one, karen just fills stupidly not even funny, stressfull. Nobody like amanda's karen but between this two Avantika wins enormously, she gives hottness and innocence at the same time.
The videos was just an added visual I placed to the make it more appealing to viewers, I legit could've just placed a photo if i wanted too, but decided to do this instead. I originally was going to do the full screen side by side instead of cropping both videos, i just did this to fill the screen tbh, and thought it turned out okay
I hate that they changed Karen's race. She's supposed to be a dumb blonde because it's a stereotype. Making her diverse gets rid of that trope. They should have made Gretchen diverse. That wouldn't have mattered.
I honestly like broadway more, Avantika's version is okay. But I prefer broadway. It feels more alive and fun! And avantika's sounds a bit auto tuned imo. (Don't hate on my comment, it's annoying.)
@@meatrubber2 Also, the way it's sung really annoys me for some reason. She has musical talent, don't get me wrong, but it just bugs me how they decided to change the music. Especially considering Tina Fey had a massive part in producing the movie adaptation of the musical.
@@Cocacolaadam I mean they did. Did you not watch the musical or read the lyrics? The harmony is way off and they made it all woke. They should have left the musical as it was instead of trying to make a cash grab.
i love how they harmonize at some points and sing together at others
I love the vocals at 3:13
They sounded good together ❤️ ❤
"I'm a sexy mouse, duh" is my favourite lyric change

Agreed literally the only reason I don’t like the movie is that is that it isn’t as pumpy as the broadway
@@Musicalfan69420 The only reason!!!!

I did it! ✨dance break✨
Why does both Karens’s sound so good! They both sound phenomenal! Different styles and ages but the result spectacularly good!
NGL, the remake actually had a great production change for this. I loved this and "Someone Gets Hurt."
I agree! The changes they made work, I think Stupid With Love isn’t that bad, it’s just different
Some finally gets it, "Someone Gets Hurt" is literally the best example of how good the movie version production was
@@growingupwithdisneyI disagree they RUINED that song for me 😭
The whole Halloween party scene is the best part of the movie production, for sure!
HOLY CRAP Kyle's choreography looks so good with the Broadway instrumental section! This video shows how well this song specifically was adapted.
Love that they changed “I expect to run the world” to “Watch me run the world”, it’s a very empowering message while not too on the face
No the line was too iconic to change

My ears are blessed by this beautiful mix
It’s nuts how avantika is 21 years younger than Kate
I like both but broadway one will forever be my fav :3
I really love broadway’s version but I’m in love with avantikas version, it just feels so good and that everything fits into place

I miss the sexy Rosa Parks line, it was super hilarious, but at least they kept sexy Abe Lincoln in there.
Honestly this was really well done, great editing! Keep up the good work!!!
I love both this is my favorite song through the whole movie
I would've liked to see Amanda Seyfried sing this. She has a pretty decent voice.
I forget she can sing too, it’s not just decent, it’s pretty amazing, she definitely should sing this too!
Omg that's sooooo cool, such a cool idea! But I find it kind of hard for it to actually happen :(
Both at the same time=pure heaven
The Broadway instrumental ❤
excellent job editing this!
Awesome avantika
Plz do more of this!
Broadway will always be my fav ❤
Actually avantika was casted after this song record only it's her audition 😅

ok i have 2 of my fave harmonies. theres the "I can be who I wanna be who i wanna be and sexy" and then "sex, sex, sexy" LIKE GURL WHAT
I would love to see these two Karen’s interact it would be so cute lol

Avantika su patrona

They’re both amazing but I think the film version is better Karen + Damien are my favourite characters in the film
X1000 Avantika❤
Listening to this with headphones tho
The left side of my earbuds are broken so for the first half of the video I thought it was just Avantika singing lol
