- Bloody Couloir is listed as one of the 50 classic ski descents of North America. Located near Mammoth Lakes, California, it is easy to see why the Eastern Sierra is famous for its backcountry lines. With firm conditions, this was definitely a tough ski for me but still ranked as one of my favorite days of the season!

@@houtdoors5992 Tucks weather can vary a LOT, even on the hike up! Mt Washington is at the convergence point of 3 major weather patterns, and can get rather brutal.
My advice is to get ahold of one of the locals and plan on going with them - they will know when it is best, and when to not even think about it. Probably best to go on a weekday - the weekends later in the season can get rather crowded, though the atmosphere is always fantastic - party time galore! Way back when, 50 years or so ago, I was there one weekend in May when there were almost 10000 people there!
If possible, stay a night in one of the huts, but you would most likely not get a reservation as they are booked usually almost a year in advance.
Apparently people ski it and we will try as well 😂
Early signs it was gonna be an adventure 😂
