Was she crying when all those wrongly prosecuted were charged, fined, sent to prison etc?
I guess she was far too busy counting her senior management pay to worry about the inconvenient sub postmasters
Oh my god give it a rest. Of course she didnt cry if she had no idea it was going on or if she didnt have anything to do With it - everybody who works at the postoffice isnt guilty of sending those people to prision 😂😂😂😂 moron
No.
@@stevenhoward3358agreed why did she not blow the whistle earlier.total Croc tears
Why is she crying?! Its not stopped her gaining more highly paid positions, shes not been to prison, not lost her life savings not been shunned by her friends! What right does she have to cry?????!!!
And she tries with tears again, and again too 🤬!
Typical female behaviour in order to gain sympathy.
@@sarabevan3468 bet you had a girl gang at school. All these comments are just from bullies.
@@Lynnefromlyn so lying deceiving denying responsibility for your actions while imprisoning and falsely removing innocent people of there life savings adding it to the profit account so your annual bonus increases is not bullying?! Clearly you have no knowledge of what your commenting on!
@@Lynnefromlyn
Bullies hate getting bullied, as this quite clearly shows.
Thats all.
If anything this clearly shows how weak bullies really are.
crying because she got caught
My thoughts exactly
Yes.
Agreed
Crying because she knows what’s coming
Crying because the psychology worked and she received a far less aggressive line of questioning, dare I say, even sympathetic.
Tears for Fears...
The sense of guilt. About time someone felt it
I thought it was emotion from genuine contrition. I think she came to tell the truth. The fact she stonewalled Vennells tells you something…
Thankyou. The vile idiots commenting here have obviously Not watched the entire interviews. There is email evidence she repeatedly asked to have more digging into the claims. She was the only one to show real remorse. I’m sick of the poorly educated and pure;y nasty who just leap on in order to slag someone off without even bothering to find out the facts.
No at critical moments she lost her memory.
@@judithmatthews8460perhaps, I don’t know. I am sure that with the outcome of the enquiry many will be more forthcoming at trial… and more contrite in their pleadings.
She new about bugs and did nothing guilty people will cry for their loss of liberty and not the consequences of their crimes
@@michaelmcginley7930 ….she was a chief information officer …not CEO nor General Counsel nor a Director. What could she realistically have done to change the situation? and how much certainty would she have had that the bugs were material to convictions or that due process had not been followed when deciding to sacrifice her career? We all like to believe we would have taken the moral high ground, Done the right thing …but it’s not so simple where once respected, powerful seniors in a major govt organisation are deceitful and manipulative…
How on earth did she get the job in the first place.
I wonder how many of her victims have cried, she should be jailed with the rest of them.
How’s your pension?
She was shunned by Vennels ...and hounded by her after she left P O
Maybe because they wanted her to do/say something which she would not, and she's actually a decent person?
@@grahamnichols1416EXACTLY! The vile people slagging her off haven’t even bothered to watch the whole interview.
Crocodile tears, you're fooling no one.
She is not as upset as the people on her watch went to prison, no accountability.
I thought the job title, _Chief Information_ Officer meant she'd have _information_ to hand. But no! Like virtually all the other POL employees, she can't recall that evidence of Horizon bugs crossing her desk year after year (or as she called them "faults") implied that _she,_ as head of the show should be seriously questioning the robustness of Horizon. Instead she palmed it off, like virtually all the other POL employees, as belonging to another dept., that she was busy with other stuff. And then broke into a gnashing of teeth and weeping of tears. She was an executive, apparently a grown-up woman with huge responsibilities and all we got was a dysfunctional memory and school hall stage emotion.
She may have had a breakdown and this is all genuine
The clerk who helped her read the oath was quite compassionate, it was nice to see that in this trial.
Having watched her entire evidence, I truly believe this poor lady was kept in the dark, then given the cold shoulder by POL. I do feel incredibly sorry for her. I’m sure she wouldn’t have taken the job in the beginning if she knew what a tangled web of deceit she was getting involved in - poor woman. Please don’t judge her on a few minutes viewing - watch her whole evidence and I’m sure you will see how distraught she is.
I watched the whole evidence. She knew about remote access and did nothing. Even after she left the Post office she could have gone to the subpostmasters and told them what she knew. She didn’t. She said she knew nothing of the Misra case but she was in the email chain and knew Gareth Jenkins was a liar. She didn’t do anything about his evidence being crucial to the conviction. I think she knew and was too gutless to speak up. It would have taken huge courage and she doesn’t have it.
@@judithmatthews8460 I’m not going to argue with you. You’re entitled to your opinion, I’m entitled to mine. Having worked in a very large organisation myself, I can easily understand how you can get copied into emails. It doesn’t necessarily mean you are responsible for the content. I have also felt the devastating effect of being given the “cold shoulder” by colleagues and can sympathise with Lesley Sewells predicament. It has a very, very destructive cumulative impact on mental health.
@@judithmatthews8460 I wonder what you would have done in the same position? It's easy to judge without full knowledge of the situation.
@@user-ip2lj3gs1oshe knew and yes maybe she decided to keep quite but that does not exonerate herself.you yourself may keep quite to keep your highly paid position but it does not make it right.if you watch the evidence its clear she knew she was a top I t executive not an admin assistant.ok she broke down in tears that does not make it right.why did she not do anything about it.
4 suicides....and one IT officer who is going to be questioned.
Crocodile tears.
What a complete pantomime her performance
That's an insult to any pantomime
You obviously don’t know the first thing about the interview.
@@Lynnefromlyn I know more than you think lets just leave it at that.
@@mikedavis-kp1sx I very much doubt that.
Painful to watch - and I stopped watching as she had repeated episodes - is sympathy appropriate? Because I stopped watching, I don't know; but not everyone at the Post Office will have been guilty of deception, neglect, or possible corruption - and if she was on the junior side, maybe she's getting the Flak which would be more deserved by others. So - a bit of charity might not come amiss: unless those lining up to criticize her know better (and maybe they do, but rush to judgement is never a great look).
She was _not_ on the junior side, she was the _Chief_ Information Officer (a CxO level job), at the top of the IT tree and paid a goodly sum.
A title doesn't stop you from being treated as a junior. If they don't like your face, you've had it.
"Pack" mentality can be found in any organization....
The word "clique" was used today. Not a great working environment to be in.
I think that is the point, it's not for us to judge when we don't have all the documents and statements so are just seeing snapshots of information. It's up to the inquiry to decide what is true or not.
If she was an honest person she may have tried to escalate and was stopped from above or people may have deliberately kept her in the dark. It happens in big businesses and there is no protection for whistleblowers and every likelihood you will be blocked from other jobs if you do whistle-blow and try to work elsewhere
@@brianhepke7182 Indeed. If the clique choose to 'off the record' decide amongst themselves, to not include you, to not forward information to you that is critical to your job and you doing your job well, so to make you appear incompetent and stupid, then you have had it.....
Does it seem so obvious that the PO employees get anxious about telling the truth
If she was truly sorry she'd not be saying " I don't recall" in a clearly coached fashion. Perhaps if she was honest and broke rank we'd care a little. Crying in shame at her own part
She was blubbering at the beginning just taking the oath.
And continued to do so throughout 🤔😔😆!
Sorry now then. Vowed to tell the truth, but couldn’t remember much of it…
Nope, not buying it!
This lady struck me as someone caught up in the monstrous corporation and not an instigator. However, from her evidence, I felt that there was some sort of cover-up directive given by management that they all know about but won't mention for fear of reprisal, something that made her very uncomfortable.
I tuned in and listened to her for approx 1 minute. In that time she "couldnt' recall" an email about an Horizon Fault ( Stamp Quantity) and then tried cover up by saying it mite be a hardware error. The description of the bug made it patently clear to any IT professional that it was a software error . I switched her off !
Who cares she's crying
She knows she is BUSTED
What a scumbag, no tears for all the postmasters she helped to prosecute!
Actually it’s the opposite. She was crying when she decided to apologise to Sima Misra
The importance and gravity on what she was about to be asked about hit her. Sadly the reality and implications of "telling the truth,
the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" had obviously been explained to her, and any questions that might incriminate her couldn't
be answered because she "couldn't recall", "couldn't remember" hardly anything at all!!
She’s the only one who has shown any remorse whatsoever. And if the people writing crap in these comments had actually watched the entire day’s interviews, you would know that she had the least to do with the goings on than all the others. Her emails have repeatedly asked that the PO looks onto the claims closely, and she refused to let Vennels browbeat her into changing her deposition and help with the cover up.
She was in charge of IT….. yet everywhere the interview turns…’not me!’. Inept.
Tears of guilt.
crocodile tears!
She paid her mortgage and fed her children off the backs of those poor mistreated post-masters who lost their businesses and some even went to jail… shame on her 😮
My goodness, what an actress ! Very disingenuous behaviour though : nobody would be convinced by this performance !
Surely this was the Chief Mis-information Officer at the Post Office?
OJ simpson cried too... as he was talked down from killing himself for sawing off the head of the mother of his children. no remorse until the day he died.
She should be crying for the people who killed themselves over it ,,😢
Give this woman an Oscar……..what drama……..while others went to jail & committed suicide…..despicable..
Massive sympathy card played here....but its no going to work.,.she still got that very contagious memory loss like the rest of them....bitterly regretting she simply cant recall those those damning emails...
To be fair she probably got hundreds of emails a day and was sent things just for information. I doubt I could remember all the emails I got at work a year ago let alone so long ago
Everyone in comments seem to be judging without knowing full facts. That’s when miscarriages of justice happen. Or do you know better? This lady seems pretty genuine to me. Or are you going to judge her by the same burden of proof that led to wrongful convictions? You can’t have your cake & eat it I’m afraid.
She's the first that I've seen to show any Guilt and remorse. After watching Humphrey Van Bogard The Truth Is Well I just Didn't Read those Emails I Can't Remember It wasn't me Gov
Oh, please! She tries the tears all the way through 🤬!
Will cry even more when she goes to jail
Crocodile tears, turn it on a day.
A lot of commenters here might like to take a look in the mirror. Mindless abuse & denunciations of these witnesses are churlish, and contemptuous. They are also pointless, spiteful and little different from the supposed behaviour of those they seek to attack. It is quite clear that this inquiry is for many of those appearing a very difficult & traumatic experience. Facing the reality of their past actions is painful and difficult, even for those who would deny their own failings. It is likely that this experience is going to be more harrowing than any possible future court appearance.
Get over yourself.compsring critical comments to what this post office did to people thesmallerhalf you really have no sense of proportion.wheres your moral compass
Vennells, Perkins, Van den Bogerd, Aujard, Davies all need to be criminally charged & prosecuted IMHO
So bored of manipulative women using tears to absolve themselves of the reality of their actions.
So bored of misogynist men using ignorant bigotry to absolve themselves of the reality of their actions
Men use other tactics to deflect from blame, which are justc as bad, so stop the gender baiting - it's not only boring but most unfair!!
@@joedewar7253 This tactic is used uniquely by women and children, I'm not gender baiting, it's just a simple fact. Multiple female witnesses during this inquiry burst into tears as if they were the victims when their own wrongdoing was being exposed. It's shameful and needs to stop.
Was she crying at the amount of times she knew she'd be saying "I don't recall" ?
Crying because prison is soon yeah ? Truth always catches up eh
Bothered?!
Becoming a victim really paying of nowadays
#MHLivingHell
Guilt pouring out ... Evil woman.
Something wasn't 'right' with her testimony as, clearly, the questioners knew she was very fragile. She was head of IT, yet didn't engage with Fujitsu outside of the client managers (strange), hadn't read recent papers sent to her (lazy/why?) and exhibited a poor memory. It appears she had a tough time inside and outside work (= performance issues?), hence the softly-pedalled questions at times (?).
There is a place for empathy . This is a person who has testified that she would never do anything to send someone to prison unjustly . I buy itv.what I didn’t buy are the lawyers judges and barristers that failed to disclose - they knew the law . I don’t accept Angela van de B s assertion she never knowingly did anything wrong - offering a £140k staged settlement to silence a bereaved family WAS WRONG !
An individual so inept at her job is now realising she has been caught out.
If you have done ill (all at the Post Office) keep not an open mind, for retribution is nature’s law!
Call the drambulance, she’s having a drama attack!!!!
The past has caught up with her
Why is upsetting to swear to tell the truth?
She needs to be given something to cry about such as 15 years for conspiring to pervert the course of justice and perjury .
Tears of guilt. She knew all along that the convictions were unsafe. There is no other explanation.
Memory blanks …did she have a breakdown? Who blocks their boss someone who is being sent to Coventry. Need more information to make a judgement.
Crocodile tears! She's terrified she's getting ousted. Now you know what one hundredths of what it felt like for the post masters.
So much for *keep calm and carry on* disgusting
Jail, jail, and jail !
Bet she didn't cry when she got her salary.
She is feeling vulnerable and has guilt. Its her defence mechanism to gain sympathetic response from everyone. Considering the position of responsibility she held in the PO, it really is pathetic.
This is what happens when you make affirmative action your no1 employment strategy
Crocodile 🐊 tears 😢
O j Simpson would be given a job with post office
she knows she is going to jail ,that's why she is crying
Has she got to grass the boss up she is on oath
She is very lucky not to have Mr Beer KC doing the examination.
She knows what she did and should go to prison
No one seems to have mentioned her disguise: the rather obvious wig and glasses.
Was that it?
Crying about the possibility of losing her pension and going to prison. Pathetic.
Exposed on long makes you cry
Oh dear. These people are either stuttering or sobbing when facing the music in a public court. At least the victims can take some pleasure from watching how pathetic they are when facing the questions of a KC.
Crocodile tears. Just looking for undeserved sympathy. Don't forget she's part of cover up
Crying how bloody pathetic.
She crying as she knows that time could be running out for her and a jail sentence maybe coming her way hopefully
Can you imagine being vulnerable, having to depend on such people to be kind to you? I can see them in low level roles, in small towns assisting in the deportation of those poor people into the hell of the concentration camps during WW2. No doubt some would accuse me of being overly dramatic... but look at them & Vennels in particular. They are the personification of the banality of evil.
Guilt tears
They prepare earth to slavery space ship. Welcome to green world 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂 fockin drama
UK disgrace
Cry more
