You have given me so much peace of mind.. you described exactly how i feel all the time because i struggle with sin. But this video has taken a wieght of my shoulders. God has told me and confirmed many times i am His. But the feeling.. it creeps in... and then i distance myself from God and it gets worse. With the peace i recieved from this video im gonna stop and get closer with Him. Because i am redeemed, i am saved and i am His beloved image bearer. Thank you two for this video.
Thank you my dear brothers in Christ. I have been experiencing lack of assurance for the last 30 years, my whole spiritual life. Especially since I became a calvinist.
Hope this comment finds you well, brotha. I have struggled with assurance for the past 12 years and then even more when I too began to accept and believe the doctrines of grace (calvinism) but I find comfort in Jesus's words, "no man can come to me unless the father draws Him" I know in my heart of hearts if you will, that I have called upon Him. I have asked him to make me holy, obedient, to bear fruit in my life and all that jaz. If you believe in Christ, then "Fear not little flock for it is your fathers good pleasure to give you the kingdom"
im 2 and half years in Christ a babe in Christ and i know ive grown and changed and blossomed a lot since i came to christ but i still feel this way specially when i fall short into Sin.
I struggle a lot to know if im rrally saved partly because of sin problems partly because of conflicting doctrine issues all sorts I guess the shortest way to explain it is I know the most important truth that Christ died for me but everything surrounding that I hear so many different things I dont know what to believe another concern is im not sure ive felt his presence or heard his voice before either in the word or in person although I may have but never been 10% sure
I hear you, and I want to feel joy, but verses like this: Hebrews 4:1 ESV [1] Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. These are the kind of passages that make me think any "assurance" I have is just self-deception.
I really appreciate this, Brothers! I’ve been affected by a anxiety disorder for a few years and during that time I was taking in the Puritans and Spurgeon. I have found that whenever I did I would be seized with great fear and dread because of some of their application for the unbeliever/false professors which I often “feel” that I was in those camps. I would often be left to despair thinking that I’ve committed Hebrews 10:26-27 which one of the Puritans said that only those who are left doomed to the wrath of God will experience in this life (in reference to verse 27) and that’s what I felt... Again this podcast helped give relief to this ongoing fear and anxiety
well I thought Hebrews apostasy was declaring a willful rejection of the Gospel despite having lived amongst genuine believers & tasted of Gods goodness. mind you I'm not saying that genuine Christians don't willfully fall into some season of sin , I'm only trying to clarify how I understood apostasy though it happens ever so subtly like casually drifting out to sea, but willfully rejecting the panic swim back to safety .
I attend a Baptist church where the leadership claims to be "reformed" but in reality they wouldn't even be able to give you a basic explanation of TULIP or tell you what the difference is between reformed theology and Calvinism. In Sunday class during the topic of election, no one in the congregation understands it and they deny that is sovereign. When the church split from a larger congregation, they refused to go with the name "Reformed Baptist Church" because they said most people would be confused with the word reformed. It is a Spanish speaking church that is more worried about having enough napkins and paper cups for the next potluck than evangelizing. In other words, the church is a social club where everyone feels comfortable because everyone there thinks alike and don't have to worry about real theology.
Those who are born of the Spirit don’t sin, so when sin shows up I have to be born again and again and again every time sin shows up again and again and again.
@@Juno_Beach yes I understand that, but I guess what I’m asking is, what is the point of salvation/ being born again, if there is no feeling to it? I always thought that if someone was to get saved by god, they would be forever changed and have an actual in dwelling of the Holy Spirit.
@@Mexidgaming well the thing is that once someone is saved, they’re indwelled with the Holy Spirit. As we know, our heart is deceiving above all things, not only that we have Satan who is a liar and sometimes makes us think things that aren’t true. I understand what you’re saying, but being saved isn’t always a dramatic emotional moment for everybody. I think a lot of us who have struggled with assurance don’t necessarily “have never had a feeling”, it’s just that those feelings change in many occasions with many circumstances. This is why we can’t be secured about our salvation with our feelings because they’re always changing. Another thing I want to mention, the point of salvation even when we don’t feel it is knowing that our eternity will be with our Lord and we are spared from His wrath in hell. I hope that makes sense :)
well tbh if you are a Christian and the spirit is in you , you should always fell saved, and if you dont maybe you should ask God why the spirit isnt working for you . or maybe its because someone is as Paul says it best "doctrines of men ,,, self-imposed religion" , where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom , those who claim to have the light but live in darkness lie and do not have the light .
The heart is deceitful above all things. Relying on emotions is akin to the "burning in the busom" of Mormonism, which is a damnable cult. Christianity isn't purely emotional, it is also logical. Reading the Word and taking it into your mind AND heart is the only way to reassure oneself of their salvation. It is completely normal for even the true child of God to doubt their standing in Him. If any person has NEVER had doubts, they are the one's who should be concerned.
Really? Then I guess Paul's epistle to Timothy, encouraging him to have confidence and assurance, to be able to fulfill his duties and not be thrown from his own stability, was in vain? "Timothy has the Spirit. And if you have the Spirit you CAN NEVER DOUBT. It's IMPOSSIBLE!" So... uhhh.... Why were all the epistles written to those who were doubting, lacking assurance, or struggling in their faith? Why did John have to write this passage: 1 John 5:12 - Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. Guess John was bored and just wasting his time, because TRUE Christians never doubt. You sound ridiculous. You are the very self righteous, religious person you are quoting, and you don't even see it. I pray the Lord humbles you in whatever way is required.
@@medic4christ777 what a hypocrite lol. You don’t even know what those verses mean and you want to use them to condemn someone. If a “TRUE BELIEVER” NEVERR doubts, then you must not know the Bible, let me tell you. Didn’t Thomas, JESUS OWN DISCIPLE, doubt the resurrection ? I want to know where you got “if you have the spirit you can never doubt, it is impossible” and please add the translation you use because that is indeed NOT IN THE BIBLE💀. Now let me ask you, do you think that “having life” is a feeling ? Let me answer for you, it is not. Therefore, because it is not a feeling, a missing feeling doesn’t mean that one doesn’t have life. How in the world is Douglas being self-righteous? The pride you have within yourself speaks volumes, it’s disgusting. People like you love to take verses OUT OF CONTEXT to build your own theology and it leads you to deception, as we can see here, trying to condemn others. To think you’re so full of faith and have never doubted only shows how deceitful you really are, you’re not examining yourself quite enough if you think your faith is so strong. I can assure you, it is not, not for long at least. God will humble YOU for acting like you got it all under control, and remember that if you have faith, it is HIS gift, don’t try and flaunt it like it is your own. I hope this isn’t how you talk to others when sharing the gospel, it is absolutely horrendous and does not help ANYBODY.
False! Although we are saved we are still living in the fleshy world with fleshy feelings and thought. Once we’re saved it doesn’t mean we stop being human..apart of being human is having emotions and sometimes those emotions are negative

then
to falsely "feel" saved

It’s not about feelings. Feelings can change. God doesn’t. He promised and he keeps his promises always. At no point did he not.
THE MOMENT YOU BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST YOU WILL BE SAVED FULL STOP THEM WE REPENT GET INTO THE WORD OF GOD JESUS WORD TRUST HIS WORD NOT MANS
No assurance no JOY of salvation, no one knows if they are saved and are miserable. The JOY of the Lord is our strength and salvation.
Awsome. Vid guys. Huge blessing for me in my struggle with assurance

But now it is no longer I who do it but sin that lives in me Rom. 7:17,20 Tell the devil to go bark up another tree.
Honest question, what’s the purpose of becoming a Christian if there is no real feeling or peace when you become one?
Salvation is the purpose of becoming a Christian
