@@BenLlywelyn Well, the Vikings and the Dacians have similar beliefs about being happy in the face of death. And I know from my own experience that joy in critical moments can ward off death.
Culturally it is that the getae dacians are the ancestors of the vikings because the vikings are indoeuropeans too. The vikings are the russian slavs with haplogroup R1a thogh. Let us remember that 'Dacia' is the term used by Classical Roman historians, and its original pronunciation in Classical Latin is 'Dakia.' The Italian and Romanian pronunciations, while reflective of their respective linguistic evolutions, represent phonological adaptations rather than the historically accurate Latin form.
@@mihaiilie8808 We don't know what the Dacians called themselves. According to Cassius Dio, the Roman term "Dakii" is derived from what the Dacians purportedly called themselves. Also, if your "Sarmisegetusa" theory is correct, where does 'Sarmise' come from, Sarmatians? That would suggest that the Dacians have a half Ukranian origin.

Thank you for promoting Dacian->Romanian history. Very very rare from a westerner.
Sarmisegetuza is very difficult to get to. Even now, it's a long walk uphill from the carpark, with the odd viper in the bushes
It certainly looks it! Dacians were preparing for a long time to fight Rome.
@cris - the alley to Sarmizegetusa is indeed long and steepish, but it is pretty wide and paved, easy to spot an odd viper if watching your step.
You have a nice and calm voice also good video.
There is also Burebista movie from 1980 also available on UA-cam.
I always thought that Vikings Valhalla where they say their ancestors are is in fact Walachia from the former Dacia.
Had to check that briefly. Valhalla means Fallen Hall (hall of the fallen). So no link.

Amazing ... why do we know so little about Dacians? Why we hear about Dacians in Cumbria? There is any truth in that?
Romans transported military males from lands thet defeated to be soldiers on the otherside of the Empire.
There was a legion from Dacia stationed there.
