I'm looking into buying an electric pressure cooker. I just came across your vids (this is the second one) and am finding them very helpful. I love how you mention 'Mom' in your vids, so sweet. And, it's nice how you seem to answer most comments viewers leave you, even if it's just a 'thank you'. I noticed too that you mention a dog. I have a electric kettle to heat the water for my Instant Pot. I was told not to use hot water as that affected the cooking time. Shortened it or something. I don’t see the difference since the liquid has to come to pressure then start the cooking time. To me the hot water shortens the time to come to pressure and the same countdown occurs. Also, I never noticed any bad results from cooking that way for me.

Tried this tonight. Epic fail. I have an 8 qt Instant Pot Duo. I bought a twin pack of hamburger helper because we always do two boxes at once. So I doubled all the ingredients including water and milk and 2 lbs beef. One thing I did different was I browned the beef in a pan separately, drained it, and then put the beef in the pot. I set it on Pressure Cook for 6 minutes. I got the dreaded “Food Burn” and I mean the bottom was really burned. There was a significant amount that was stuck to the bottom so bad, I couldn’t even scrape it free. I had to dump what I could and then soak the pot in soapy water.

    • @RickMammana
      @RickMammana  2 роки тому

Hmmmm, well maybe if I browned it in the pot it was nice and hot and greased up probably why mine didn't burn? Sorry to hear about that problem.

@@RickMammana just watched another video where they set it to 00 instead of 6. They said that the egg noodles take almost no time to cook. And looking back on it, I think it was mostly noodles that burned on the bottom for me, not the beef. No worries, I transferred all I could to a regular pan and did it the old fashioned way.

      Saute meat. Drain.
      Add seasoning mix.
      Add water and milk.
      Add pasta.
      Pressure cook for 6 minutes.

Did you follow the recipe for water/milk ratios on the box? I used the box recipe and it came out extremely soupy. I had to cook it down as best as I could, and the noodles are now soggy. And it’s still a thick soup. I’ve added potato flakes in attempts to thicken it.
My husband is learning to hate the instant pot as I’m following recipes trying to learn.
Very unpleased at how this turned out. It did NOT work for me.
On the order hand I enjoyed watching your video.

I don't remember, this was a while ago. I'll have to watch again to see what I said.

Don't follow this. I tried it and it was a soupy mess. Way too much liquid. It was gross. It seemed too easy but its disgusting.

Ick! Stop using all these canned and boxed foods Rick. SO much tastier and healthier to make your own stuff and it's not hard. :)

Should really stop feeding roxie people food, that's how dogs get diabetes.

Why? It takes 12 minutes to make, you saved a whole 6 minutes? Seems like a bit of a waste using a pressure cooker, and doesn't really offer much advantage over a skillet...

Joe Sheble It’s not just for pasta. You can cook any meat in half the time or less.

Some of the hamburger helpers take like 20-25 minutes... Cutting that in half is a real time saver and some of us don't have the time to spare! It's great if you do though but don't judge the rest of us.
